Hi Sam, this is Chris Sprague (aka "Gringo Starr") from Los Straitjackets. I just wanted to say how happy I am that you enjoyed our show. That really means a lot to me and the whole band! Loved hearing your perspective of the show and all the details you pulled from it. Thank you for supporting live music and hope to see you next time we roll thru town.
@chrissprague4088 no way! That means so much that you tuned in! I'd love to see you guys again and am looking forward to the record coming later this year!
Sounds like a great show Sam! Never saw him, but would love to. Playing Chicago on the 20th, wish he would've booked in the burbs. He does write some very clever lyrics.
Sounds like a fun show. I've been a big fan of both of these artists. I like the album "Sing Along with Los Straitjackets" where they bring in guest singers to cover classic pop songs.
Hey Sam, if you don't know them, you should check out Nick's first band Brinsley Schwarz. I think they were actually more in your wheelhouse than Nick solo is. I am a life-long Nick mega-fan. Take care...
@@samstjohn1994Nicks first proper band was Kippington Lodge 1966/1969, there first single Shy Boy is very much of its time, they released a whole album later on!
Sounds like a fun night, that’s cool you got a set list! Even though you’re not a huge fan of his, you seem to know quite a bit of information on Nick Lowe.
Well, Rockpile was more rootsy than most power pop bands...I saw them the first time at McFarlin Auditorium in 1978 opening for Van Morrison in Dallas, Tx....That was one of the best live shows I have ever seen ( & I have seen thousands)...Saw them 2 years later at The Agoura....They were all drunk....Oh, well... Peace and Love Terry and Julia Tutor
Ahh... you got your setlist. Good deal. (I'm the guy who offered you a Los Straightjacket's bass in trade.) 'tis the holidaze season. Get, and review, _Quality Street_.
I saw Rockpile in '80 in NYC and Nick Lowe several more times in L.A. I saw Los Straightjackets live a couple of times in L.A., too. I've been waiting to see this mash-up for years! By the by, I passed up on a chance to see them in N.C. a few years ago 'cuz fuck drivin' 'round for hours for rock 'n' roll!!!
That's interesting. I'm fine with no rapport honestly, so that's not something I worry about. I love guys like Dylan and Van Morrison that do the job and leave it on stage. I appreciate you watching!
@@samstjohn1994 I'm not one to criticize an artist and maybe it is his style but it came across to me as here's your 90 minutes now give me my check I'm outa here lol.

My wife and I just saw them a few days back in Atlanta, third time seeing them. Always a great show, so much talent on the stage.
That's the truth! That band is top notch!
I'd love to see Nick Lowe. Sounds great.
He was so cool!
Sounds like an awesome show. Nice job grabbing a set list. Cool shirt 👕.
I went from no setlists ever to two in the last few months! Thanks Rich.
Nick rocks! Love his work with Costello. Glad you had a great time! 🙂
If he comes your way check him out!

The band was top notch too!
Nicely done Sam. Great recap/review.
Thanks Jason, he was a fun time!
Love Nick Lowe & sounds like a great show Sam. Dig the t-shirt too 👍
He still looks super cool too! Thanks Ben.
@@samstjohn1994 He seems to get more suave with age. A real rarity.

Oh I'll need to check that out! I had no idea it existed.
Mike Campbell sings "Bumblebee" on the album. Very skilled studio musicians.@@samstjohn1994
You saw one of the greats. I got to see him with Elvis C. at UVa in the 80's. An elder statesman of rock.
I know they just toured together last year. It was a fun night!
Hi Sam. I hope you enjoyed it. I'm not going to watch your review as I see him next Wednesday and want to be surprised. Can't wait.
That makes sense! He was great, you'll have a great time Randy!

Hey Tim! I've heard the name but haven't picked up their records. I'm on the hunt to pick up anything Nick Lowe related. Hope you're well!

I'm a big fan, just don't know him deeply haha. Thanks Adam!

Thanks y'all! Rockpile had some cool sounds, love the rockabilly sounds of Nick and Dave.
I saw them in Rehoboth at Dogfish head Brewpub years ago but Marshall Crenshaw was the singer-Nick was a better fit!
Oh so it was Marshall with the band?

That's awesome that you saw them that early! I'm seeing Dylan in Richmond at the end of the month so I'll be hauling haha
I was disappointed. I felt he had no rapport with the audience at all and couldn't wait to get off stage. I heard others rumbling as we exited.
That's interesting. I'm fine with no rapport honestly, so that's not something I worry about. I love guys like Dylan and Van Morrison that do the job and leave it on stage. I appreciate you watching!
