    Finally some Blue Öyster Cult! Just a friendly warning, this band is very addictive! Some of their better known songs are Godzilla, Burnin For You and Cities On Flame With Rock and Roll. Some deeper cuts are I Love The Night, Are You Ready To Rock, Astronomy, E.T.I., and Veteran of the Psychic Wars. You guys are really going to love this band.

      My recommendations are "Nosferatu", "The Great Sun Jester", and "The Vigil".

    James Hetfield from Metallica talked about BOC in an interview some years ago. He mentioned that BOC played the biggest venues in the country in the late 70's / early 80's, but now they play smaller venues and large clubs. James wondered how a band can make that change from large venues to small venues. But then he said that he caught a recent BOC show and understood why: They love what they are doing. They love playing live in front of a crowd.
    The rock music industry is like professional baseball. Many people play in the minors, but only the lucky few get called up to the "big show". Everybody hopes to get that call, but if you decide that you will not be happy unless you get the call, there is a huge probability that you will be a very sad individual. A better existence is to work hard and hope to make it big, but be happy to get what you do get and just keep playing the game as long as the game wants you.

    Don't know if anyone else mentioned it, but this song was used to eerie effect in John Carpenter's movie 'Halloween'. The original one in the late 70's, not the modern remakes. I believe it was considered the first ever slasher horror to be made. It is a classic for a lot of reasons. If you haven't seen it, it is worth seeing. According to Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser, the lead guitarist, and lead vocalist on this song, he wrote it after getting a diagnosis of an irregular heartbeat. That had him thinking about his mortality and that he may have a shortened life. "I thought I was going to maybe not live that long", he said in an interview. He described it as "a love song where the love transcends the actual physical existence of the partners". It advocates courage in the face of death, but in no way suggests we should actively bring it about. It expressed his wish that should he die early, that he would be able to be with his loved ones again in the afterlife." - Songfacts

    No fuckin' way! My favorite tune from my favorite reactors?! I'm drunk and stoned and ready for bed, but I absolutely cannot miss this right now. I already know you're gonna dig it.

    They claim it's not about suicide, but I refuse to buy it. I don't know why they would lie, though. But to me it will always be about jumping out the balcony. "Came the last night of sadness and it was clear she couldn't go on". Opened the balcony door and the reaper appeared telling her to not be afraid. Then she ran to him and they started to "fly". Come on. She jumped.

      Maybe if you knew why the song was written by Buck in 1976 you'd buy it. Also funny when some random thinks they know more than the guy that wrote the actual song ...

    Now you gotta see them LIVE...start with "Veteran Of The Psychic Wars" (Buck Dharma's guitar solo will require a seat belt): th-cam.com/video/7pFdkkjGiEs/w-d-xo.html

    This song reminds me of another play by Shakespeare, and the speech about death by the title character Julius Caesar:
    Cowards die many times before their deaths;
    The valiant never taste of death but once.
    Of all the wonders that I yet have heard.,
    It seems to me most strange that men should fear;
    Seeing that death, a necessary end,
    Will come when it will come.

    I think it pretty much means don’t fear death. The reaper is a cool dude… take his hand, you’ll be able to fly! 😊😆

    3:07 By a landslide! Over 50% iirc
    4:46 Kind of. It was an SNL skit w/Christopher Walken
    I've found BOC to be a very underappreciated/underrated rabbit hole in the reactorverse. Yeah they only had a couple other "hits" with Godzilla and Burnin For You. But they also had soo many good deep cuts as well: Flaming Telepaths, Veterans of the Psychic Wars, Astronomy, Joan Crawford, Black Blade, Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll, my favorite I Love the Night, etc.
