I just bought this Samsung Tab A 9.7 (Cyber Monday 2016 @ Wallmart). Been looking for a Tablet for some time now. Was leaning toward a rebuilt unit to keep my cost down. Even with all the Cons. about this Samsung Tab A 9.7, I could not pass-up a price of $149.98. Your video is very helpful (this is my first Tablet). Great review like always. I am glad to see you make a review on this tablet because I had some questions that you answered in this review. I am defiantly thinking about getting the blue galaxy tab a 9.7. I am so glad to see Samsung make a table with a 4:3 ratio because I like holding my tablets vertical so I can read things online and I also like holding it horizontal to watch youtube videos and movies. Honestly I don't mind the black bars to much.
Someone just gave me the 8" one NIB. Set it up and it's actually still useful in 2020. Glad I found a video about it a lot of features I didn't know about until I watched. Thanks.
I wish my "premium" iPad have third of the features in this budget tablet. This is the problem with iPad's and probably why the sales are declining. You cant freely do many things in it.
The reason why i got myself an android tablet. Ipad is just so limiting, the screen size is wasted for what appears to be a blown up iphone UI. My nexus 7 could do a lot more, it runs everything i need, i can use bluetooth freely, i can even plug in a thumbdrive if i wanted to. But I'm interested to see what ios 9 has to offer though. Also surface 3 looks like a nice productivity tablet if you don't mind the big size and big pricetag. I'm considering it for my tablet replacement this year

Nice review! I bought this tablet for my daughter for her birthday. I traded in an old Samsung tab 2 and got $100 off the purchase of the Tab A at best buy. She loves it and is not bother by the lower screen resolution.
Another great and awesome review. I didn't like the picture quality and I didn't think that it could take those nice pictures with only 5 mega pixel camera.
It actually isn't as bad as you might think. I had the IPad 2 for a while which had a 1024 by 768 display and it was actually pretty good. Of course the retina displays are better but the screen was still fantastic!
It doesn't really matter for the 8 inch version. 9.7 you could tell if you put your face right up to the screen but why would you do that? Screen quality is what matters, these seem to deliver.

BIHMOSTWANTED they are already having supply issues with the s6 edge because making the curved glass is a difficult process and yields lower volume. give it a few years for them to streamline production then we will see them on tabs

I bought the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 5 days ago, and thus far I am very happy. This is my first tablet, so it's all new to me. I suppose I'll soon get acquisition fever, and I'll want to buy another! :) .. With that said, I've heard great things about the Nexus 9... who knows, maybe that will be my next purchase? Truth is, all I do is read eBooks through my Kindle app, socialize using the Facebook app, check sports news, and occasionally cruise the internet. Not sure what my next tablet will be, but so far I really like my Samsung Tab A.

Because this is one of, if not the best review video so far I have watched. Great video dude, thank you. Anyway, to the topic, I'm in Thailand and looking for a relatively cheap tablet, it's not an essential part of my life and spending like a whole month salary sounds kinda nonsense to me, so, the SS Tab A, gets my attention. However, the surprisingly disappointing screen resolution is a deal breaker. I'm using SS Grand 2 which is like almost 2 years old and the resolution is 1280x720 which is just right to me on 5.25" screen, now, why would I want a 1024x768 on 9.7" screen? And it is released in 2015, god, what's wrong with Samsung? The aspect ratio is changed to 4:3 which is not suitable for watching videos, and the resolution is also not suitable for reading, so, what is this for actually?

Great video as usual. Not sure I fully agree with the instant association between premium materials and metal. The iPad is indeed well built but it's metal back is slippery and too cold to the touch for my taste.
I picked up the Galaxy Tab A today at Walmart for $169, which is a deal for what I'm going to use it for. An occasional movie and for reading. Have the older Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, plus two RCA tablets :-)
I have the Tab A 9.7 and I've tried the Tab A 7.0 and 8.0 in store. I can say, the 9.7 has the best screen size for internet reading. However, it is heavy to keep in hand and manipulate. The 8.0 is amazingly light and easy to handle for it's size and could be used for internet reading although not for longer periods compared with the 9.7. The 7.0 is a great little tablet although a bit heavy for it's size: it makes the perfect 'in bed' movie watching tablet as well as a perfect traveling companion.

I got this Tab A a couple of months ago because my old iPad 2 got old and could not get iOS 10. it works great for my needs! (i would recommend turning on power saving mode and app power saving)

Phil Vierno I very rarely use tablets. Unless I'm watching movies, I'd prefer to use a large mobile screen with a full OS and a keyboard so I can maximize input productivity and multi-tasking. The rest can be done on my iPhone 6 Plus which is big enough. How do you feel?
***** I'm exactly in the same camp. I'm either using a device out on the go which means smartphone, or I'm at home on the couch, desk or bed where a laptop works perfectly. Actually usually better than a tablet because, well, its keyboard serves as a stand too and we just find ourselves putting keyboard attachments on tablets anyway. It's a shame really. Tablets are still really cool.
im really glad I opted for the 8 inch tablet, Im gonna use it more for reading E books mostly. The 9.7 inch is a bit too big for me. I already own a Samsung S7, so transferring all my apps onto the tablet should be a breeze. I got this tablet for only $80 bucks from a verizon promotion, the best thing being I get unlimited data usage on the tablet. Safe to say this thing is going everywhere with me. Its a really neat tablet, i really enjoy it.

When I bought this Tablet, it was great, and then after two years, it started lagging a lot. Now it just gets heated up and I can't use it 'cos it's all laggy. Phil Vierno I very rarely use tablets. Unless I'm watching movies, I'd prefer to use a large mobile screen with a full OS and a keyboard so I can maximize input productivity and multi-tasking. The rest can be done on my iPhone 6 Plus which is big enough. How do you feel?
***** I'm exactly in the same camp. I'm either using a device out on the go which means smartphone, or I'm at home on the couch, desk or bed where a laptop works perfectly. Actually usually better than a tablet because, well, its keyboard serves as a stand too and we just find ourselves putting keyboard attachments on tablets anyway. It's a shame really. Tablets are still really cool.
im really glad I opted for the 8 inch tablet, Im gonna use it more for reading E books mostly. The 9.7 inch is a bit too big for me. I already own a Samsung S7, so transferring all my apps onto the tablet should be a breeze. I got this tablet for only $80 bucks from a verizon promotion, the best thing being I get unlimited data usage on the tablet. Safe to say this thing is going everywhere with me. Its a really neat tablet, i really enjoy it.

Seen these In person the screens suck ass in terms of resolution the rest of the tablet is okay definetly or more mid tier option.
Hey Nick, I have this Tablet, and I agree with your point about the screen. I know this comment is like 5 years old, but I just wanna say something. When I bought this Tablet, it was great, and then after two years, it started lagging a lot. Now it just gets heated up and I can't use it 'cos it's all laggy. I am planning on buying the iPad 8th gen. Is it a good one?
