@The Curious Mind Mat was only part of the band for what is, from a drum perspective, one of their most boring albums.
Well yeah, you really can do good in performing someone else's tracks, but it's a different story when you're going to compose parts yourself. While Mat was capable doing Trivium's semi fast-paced stuff from their previous albums, his very own drumming on Silence In The Snow is just...meh. The same goes for Arin with A7x

I showed this cover to my mother (a diehard A7X fan) and her first reaction towards Danny's vocal was "How does something like that come out of someone like him? He looks like a baby. How old is he? Seven? I love this guy!" - Danny, you've got a new fan and my Mom loves you!

Also, the apology was for somebody saying this guy couldn't cover it, and he played the shit out if it flawlessly.

A7X has been my favorite band for about 12 years. And as much as I enjoy FATN, Danny and Shadows don’t sound all that similar. It was a good cover sure. But too easily differential from Shadows’ voice.

@DeadKing507 I’m surprised someone else here suggested a band like Dream Theater as opposed to more popular and low hanging fruit bands. I suggested On the Backs of Angels from them as a song to challenge them,but not a song they’re not necessarily skilled enough to play (ex. Panic Attack or The Count of Tuscany). But As I Am is one of the few Dream Theater songs I think they could actually pull off. It’s definitely one of their simpler songs.

I'm a big A7X fan and I normally cannot stand when people try and cover their songs. This however was AWESOME. Hats off to you guys, this rocked!
Almost like listening to the AX7 CD, spot on. Regarding covers, as expected I see a lot of recommendations of bands with similar style that everyone knows you will do well. What I would like to see, and what could even be a cover for a future album would be making a song that isn't like From Ashes to New done in FATN style, sort of like Marilyn Mason's cover of Sweet Dreams, one of the best covers ever and completely changed the style of the original. Make a rap/rock version of I'd Love to Change the World from Ten Years After or make a hard rock/rap version of California Dreamin from Mamas and Papas.
@SunDiegoRockStar I agree with the idea of suggesting bands that don’t sound like them,and I’ll take it further by saying I’d like to see them cover bands and songs that would challenge them. Like for example,I suggested On the Backs of Angels by Dream Theater and Stranger Things by Periphery. They’re not the most complicated songs they have to offer,but not the simplest ones either. It’s not fair to suggest some of their most complicated songs like Panic Attack or Zyglrox since they might not be skilled enough to cover those songs,but songs that do challenge them would be cool to hear instead of songs we already know they can cover like The Diary of Jane and Points of Authority. Plus based on this cover,the band is open to the idea of challenges and proving people wrong. I get wanting to see covers of your favorite bands and songs and it’s easy to suggest bands that are in a similar style,but hearing something different would be great too.
Let’s get “Diary of Jane” out of the way, so we can get “Rollin” by Limp Bizkit
