Thanks for the videos. always good to see things done before opening it up.Will be buying the 2017 TMAX530 when it hits Thailand this July. hoping that you can share your knowledge and experience about these CVT transmissions - especially compared to the DCT that Honda is using. My limited experience with a Honda Forza 300 CVT is that it seems to loseagainst other transmissions off the line and very little engine braking downhill. What's your take?
I just used a clean cloth and gave it a good wipe down. My oil seals were still good, and I didn't have any grease "slung out" into the variator; just dust.
The only grease used, is the "special" grease used to keep the threads on the shaft from being "chewed up" when the nut is torqued down, and on the inner shaft. The two oil seals on the inner shaft keep the grease inside. They should be replaced with the belt.
I don't know what they are. I will have to get one of the old ones and see what it is. I may have to weight all of them and divide by 8 to get an adverage. There was no visiable difference between the new and old ones.
It's been a good investment, but I've done all my own service work. If you needed a dealer to do it all. the costs would be much greater, and for the amount of riding I've been doing lately, the costs would outweight the fun. But it has very good get up and go spunk, and takes me as fast as I want to go.
hey big wheels.great and informative videos mate.I'm looking at buying a tmax someday as my first motorcycle/scooter. In your opinion has it been a good vehicle for you in terms of performance and reliability???
I measured one and it looked like 18.5grams on my scale, but it's not that easy to read on the low end. So I measured all 8 of them and took an "adverage" (think average-no spell check here ;) , and the total weight was 152 grams total/8 rollers=19grams per roller for the OEM's.
Hey BigWheelsTuring, how many grams do the old roller weights weigh? I am looking at ordering Dr. Pulley sliders to replace mine am trying to figure out the OEM Roller Weight without pulling mine apart .
The only you dont want to do is bend the belt and watch the date it is produced because sunlight damages the belts structural integrity 5 years is the limit
