      Tha Rand also refers to the Witwaterand were gold is found in South Africa. Hence why the Rand is called the Rand.

    Regarding 0:15 rather than "1962" as you had described, the Krugerrand was first minted on 3 July 1967. Regarding 2:10, the Krugerrand's composition is 22 karat gold which is 91.67% gold + 8.33% copper. This is known as Crown gold and was introduced in England by King Henry VIII in 1526. Crown gold is used for the minting of British gold sovereigns Their Crown gold alloy composition is the reason why British gold sovereigns and Krugerrands have the same colour.

      Yes you are correct about 1967 I got that wrong in the video! Yes it is 22 ct gold! Thanks for watching!

    i am related to Paul Kruger. Just got my firts silver Kruger Rand. it is a sweet coin, for now only a lucky charm and a hobby. great video, i will be getting a gold one in the future.
    ps
    the copper content in the gold kruger rand was to make it more durable because it was intended for real life use.

    Rand comes from Witwatersrand, which is where gold miners came during the gold rush.

    I have several of the 1 oz Krugerrand. They are well known all over the world. They are not stylish or beautiful really. I buy them because they are liquid and well known and have a good reputation.

    I thought when I looked at mine yesterday, compared to the kangaroos, "Why do they look coppery?" 91% gold, and yes, they have copper content.

    Three questions: Should i buy newly minted Krugerrands or old ones, what trusted dealer would you suggest (such as Jomashop) and do you believe they would ship to Brazil? Thank you

    • @CoinCollector
      @CoinCollector  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not sure about shipping to Brazil, but either new or older Krugerrands are good investments in my opinion.

      @@CoinCollector Thanks...I asked about old vs new mostly because I imagined new coins to be easier to falsify.
