    I loved these videos you did. Thank you so much! The jump ring is absolutely needed when making making earrings. the hole of the earrings and the hole of the fish hook is facing the same way. If you put the earring on the fish hook, it will make the earring part turn sideways. The jump ring prevents that from happening. So your def right including the jump ring. Now they make oval jump rings and the part that opens is on the side instead of the top so it’s less likely to come apart or have the fish hook or earring slide out of the “crack” lol (lack of better word this morning) of the circle jump ring. These came out beautiful, thanks again:)

      Hello & Good Morning Kimberly ! Thank You for you sweet & kind words ! I'm so happy that you could stop by & take a peek at the tutorial ! A little tip for you : If possible, getting cricut brand faux leather from Hobby Lobby OR you can get Faux leather from Walmart cut off the bolt actually cuts way better than the faux leather I used in my tutorial. I've had alot of crafters have issues with cutting it. By all means if you want to give it a try, please do ! I have no problems with it at all. I wish it was as easy as we all have the same materials, same machine, same settings, same blade, etc. & we all get the same results, but for some strange reason with this project, it just doesn't work out like that, I have seen. Oh & a nice sharp blade comes in super handy as well ! =) They are super easy to make & super cute to wear !! If you have an issues or need any assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know, I don't mind to help anytime !

    Thank you @OurCraftyChaoticLife for this terrific video. So much information! I did find the measurements for the holes in the earrings. These dimensions worked on the Cameo for faux leather -- 0.104" x 0.101", then you just have to do a "SUBTRACT " to get the software to punch the hole thru. Also what size are the earring wires you were using please? Thank you, Jerri

    Thanks so much for the great tutorial! I have been experimenting with my cut settings and have not been able to cut through the faux leather from hobby leather. I have used the setting 10 and bumping my passes up to 3 and 4 and still haven't had any luck and that is with using deep cut blade as well. Do you maybe have any suggestions?

    Thank you so much for the tutorial! My only question is, what do you suggest for the edges? Maybe it's just me but I can't stand the white edge, especially with darker material. So far I've just used Sharpie in a similar color but wasn't sure if that was the best thing to do for sellability

    • @CrystalGrayArt
      @CrystalGrayArt  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello & Good Evening Jennifer ! Thank You for taking the time to watch the tutorial ! As for the edges, I haven't had an issue with my customers not liking the white edges however, I do like the Sharpie idea for one. I was just talking with another crafter & she was telling me that she has taken some mod podge & put along the edges & added some fine glitter to the edge of the earring. That could be another option for you. I'm sorry I don't have any other suggestions for you but I will be sure to ask around & if I hear of anything more, I'll come back & comment to let you know !

      One crafter on Pinterest (of course!) used metallic pens or acrylic paint to accent her earrings. Both are permanent after a time and she sells hers. =)

      You are very welcome ! Thank You for watching ! Let me know if you need any help, I'm happy to help anytime ! Alot of people have had issues with cutting the faux leather that comes in the rolls from Hobby Lobby but have had success with cutting faux leather that you get in the fabric department that comes on the bolts at Walmart. So, you might want to try that, if you have a walmart nearby and since they are open today & HL is closed on Sundays. I hope you have lots of fun making them as we did. My daughter has become slightly obsessed with wearing them & wants me to constantly make her different colors to match her clothes, lol. Have a wonderful crafty day !!

    • @bethswanson8260
      @bethswanson8260 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the info about Walmart. Only question I have so far is I couldn't make out what size oval JUMP (LOL) rings for the glitter canvas ones....sounded to me like "5x7" but that probably isn't right. Havent researched online yet but didn't want to search for something that may not exist.....

    • @CrystalGrayArt
      @CrystalGrayArt  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You heard right ! They are 5x7 ovals. I got them at Hobby Lobby. You can just use the 6 or 8mm circle jump rings instead, if you want too, that's totally your choice. =)

    • @CrystalGrayArt
      @CrystalGrayArt  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Wendylynn! I actually use a cricut mat with all of my Silhouette Cameos. The reason being is the Cricut mats are so much more sturdy than the sil mats. I have a video on how to adjust a Cricut mat for your cameo if you'd be interested to check that out. I believe if you ever use a Cricut mat for your cameo, you probably won't ever use a sil mat again! th-cam.com/video/7ZrYHhyINIc/w-d-xo.html

    Thanks for the free files! Question on the glitter vinyl. Do you cut through the vinyl backing to use it also and glue the other piece to it?

    • @CrystalGrayArt
      @CrystalGrayArt  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Debra ! You are very welcome ! As for the glitter, its actually called glitter canvas & doesn't have a vinyl backing on it. You get it at Hobby Lobby in the ribbon section and comes in rolls. It's really easy to cut, actually easier than the leather. Once you cut your earrings out, I put a small amount of hot glue to adhere the two pieces together to make them sturdier. The glitter canvas is thin, so that is why I double them. =) Hope this helps ! Happy Crafting !!

    What did you say to put on the back of your leather to hide the lighter color like white? Sorry didn't understand that part of your video. I have purchase leather earrings in the past from shops and it looks like its doubled but when I have tried that they are too thick.

    • @allibama
      @allibama 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Add vinyl to the back. You could even do that before cutting so that you have a "fancy" back from the start.

    • @CrystalGrayArt
      @CrystalGrayArt  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes ma'am, it sure it! All you have to do is take your draw a shape too, choose the circle tool. Hold down the shift key (that way you get a perfect circle) while you are drawing your circle & make the circle the size that you want it. Put the circle where you want it on the earring. Once finished let go of the shift & the mouse button. Then select the circle you created, right click, select duplicate & take that second circle & place it on the second earring. There you go! =) When you go to cut, make sure you select to just cut the EDGE of those pieces!! =) Hope this helps!!

    Thank you for the tutorials. Can you use HTV on top of the faux leather?

    • @CrystalGrayArt
      @CrystalGrayArt  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes ma'am you can!! You have to use low heat & short presses. I do 215 - 225 degrees & 3 - 5 seconds and don't put the press top down. Hold the earring in your hand, put a pot holder in your hand, earring in top and pat it on the top plate. Don't press it too hard, but move it around for a couple seconds then check to see if it will pull up from the transfer tape. If and when it pulls up, then gently press your entire earring in the top plate one more time the same way without the transfer tape sheet on. That's it!! I hope that helps!!

      Hello & Good Evening Vannessa ! To monogram the earrings, you can simply just design your monogram in Silhouette Studio to the size you need them to be and cut them out in 651 vinyl OR you could use HTV. If you use HTV, only heat your heat press to 275 degrees and only press for a few seconds so that you don't melt your material ! =) I hope this helps ! Happy Crafting !!

    What size jump rings and fish hook wire do I need?

    • @CrystalGrayArt
      @CrystalGrayArt  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello & Good Morning Charly ! For the jump rings, I use 4 mm & 6mm sizes & for the fish hook wire, it really depends on your personal preference. You will see that they have the longer (the part that goes in your ear) fish hook ear wire (which is what I use in the tutorial) and they have the shorter ear wire. I tend to keep with the longer fish wire because it gives me more room for my earring pieces & jump rings to freely move around especially once they are in my customer or my daughters ears. =) I hope this helps ! Please let me know if you have any other questions or need any help ! You can also reach me on my Facebook page or Facebook group (same name as the channel) ! Happy Crafting !!
