- A pop rivet converted to a very popular salmon fly, the Posh Tosh. This hairwing salmon tube fly will give lots of moment with the water protruding over the large rivet head, stimulating the movement given from fishing monster or turbo cones. A set of pop rivets will cost you a few pence per fly where a weighted tube and monster/turbo cone will cost you significantly more money as well as taking longer to tie.

Nice little fly, well tied Séan 👍I’ll be tying some of those up today in preparation for my trip to the N. Esk 🍻
Great tuff Ryan, tight lines for your trip 👍
Fantastic fly Seán!
Thanks buddy 🙏
Love the idea! I had been wondering whether this may be a better DIY solution that those expensive weight systems and plastic tubing (not that I have anything against them). Good thinking! 🙌
I can't take credit for the idea Dirk, seen it on social media a few years back 👍 You will still need a small section of liner tubing on the inside just to protect your tippet 🎣
I think they are 3/16 rivets, the 1.8mm liner fits them ok. I’ve tied a few already but never fished them yet.
That's spot on 👍
That`s what you call, thinking outside the box. Well tied. What diameter is the head on the pop rivet ?
Thanks very much Gary. Yhe flange is 6.3mm and the tube thickness is 3mm OD at a length of 16mm. I've also tried sneadlas and francis tubes on rivets, tying the flange at the rear. I have a pop rivet francis video uploaded if you find it useful 👍
Regarding the Red Frances on a rivet, I’ve been making Zelda’s recently, they would go on a rivet as well….
@@ibana8449 a fly I have never tied before, must give one a try sometime 🤷♂️
