This is the first video I have watched of yours. Just to start I'm a trained chef. I have been doing a lot of research on how people do these classic recipes, chefs and home cooks. I like how you made your roux and added your vegetables to your roux. That is actually the traditional way Gumbo is started. I like the idea of this because with the slow cooking time. This is a great way to build flavor. There is definitely some changes I would make, but I just wanted to comment and say I like this method you used for this.
I love the way you cook. I would love to try this sometime. I loved the way my mother cooked it as a child. It was in a bag in the oven. The vegetables were small so I didn’t know all there was in there. I was scared of peppers because I thought they tasted funny back then and I didn’t like onions. I was picky. Poor mom! I like most things now.
I’m impressed how organized you are and also how you put all your stuff on the stove on your cookie sheet:-). Not to mention the food looks mighty fine😋

I remember my Mother tenderizing the round steak with by beating it with side of a saucer. Her gravy was made with watered down catsup. The flour from the steaks thicken the gravy. One of my favorite meals.

Interesting! Looks more like what we would call "pepper steak" ( Louisville ky). We'll, truthfully, it looks like what would happen if pepper steak and Swiss steak had a baby!❤ ( at least in ky!) I'm really liking this twist😂. Swiss steak I grew up on was made with round steak, and simmered in a diced tomato broth then had canned green beans and canned whole potatoes ( or cut up russets), added into the pan with the steak. The weird part is you had to keep the potatoes, green beans and meat all in their corner 😂😂😂😂. I got over that and combined it all!Still looks awesome.i love trying new things!❤❤❤❤
OMGOSH!!! Talli❤❤ this is my favorite meal! My other one is roast beef, potatoes and carrots ❤. I use a thin sirloin or round steak to make mine. Only because you can’t find cube steaks around here. I do the same thing you’ve done only I’ve never floured and fried it first. I season the meat, put all the other things in and carrots. Cover with foil and bake it low and slow in the oven. It’s always been thick enough but sometimes I take just the juice, add a bit of cornstarch mixed well to thicken. You’ve made 2 of my favorites in one day!! Lime pound cake and Swiss steak!! WOOHOO. I just cover them and let them simmer low and slow in the gravy until they’re tender… they’ll get there… I do buy the pre tenderized ones… I don’t know if that makes a difference
