I think the best part of this one, besides that it's extremely simple and functional, is the fact that he built it with OTHER homemade rigs! So many DIY projects on youtube are done by people with professional tool shops and they show you how "easy" it is when they have top of the line equipment to do every part of it.
I love your style of video. No chit chat, just getting the job done. For me, you are the ultimate youtube DIY woodworker. Thanks for sharing your ideas!
This is jairam from chennai, india. It is very kind of you to have given dimensions and measurements for planner. I did try this in a different method but did not succeed hats off to u. Hope you post sone more useful videos thankyou
Absolutely Brilliant. I have watched your build videos and been a Subscriber for around a year now, and you never disappoint with your videos and ideas. Keep doing what you do and thank you for sharing....Thumbs up and shared...
I have to agree with ARush, the build was good to watch but I couldn't stop wishing I had made all my own work stations like you have. Love it ,I really do 👌👏💪🙏
How to build a jointer: step 1: build a table saw step 2: use table saw to build a drill press step 3: use drill press to build a table jig saw step 4: use all to build a jointer nice shop man, awesome :)
1/ Rome was not built in a day 2/ a jointer is not a tool which a beginner woodworker needs 3/ people who want to have a jointer at some point, probably have already some woodworking tools 4/ you can buy a jig saw for less than 40 €, corded circular saw about 50€ and the electric planer also about 50€ 5/ it is possible to build the table jig saw with only a jig saw and a cheap drill 6/ making things, jigs, other tools is more limited by peoples skills (and mindset) than by tools themselves 7/ woodworking craft exists for many, many ages. The majority was made with handtools.
yes, all true. I was mostly commenting on how amazing all his other diy tools are. He is clearly skilled. I was trying to make a fun joke about how his entire shop looks like it started with a drill and a saw, which is amazing. I know I am not good at making jokes online, so I usually refrain. looks like I am still bad at it :)
I'd like to tell you how much you've helped me. You've introduced me to the world of modest building tools. I've been watching your videos for a year now and, although I didn't have much when I started, by now I've made your 4-in-1 drill press, the drill press vice, the jigsaw table and guide, and will make this joiner, too. I have an old house, and there's a lot to do! When I think how I used to spend loads of money contracting local companies to come and do a shoddy job (I live in a little village in the French countryside), I now feel empowered. Well, I did spend a small fortune on tools and screws, but I know I saved a lot, too, thanks to you. Most of all, I've gained a lot of skills I never thought was in me. If I had started out watching the pros on TH-cam making things with their industrial workshops, I think I would have been so intimidated that I'd have never dared to try myself. You are a true master at your craft. Thank you! Keep the videos coming!
Absolutly fantastic. I have a planer I hardly ever use and I need a jointer. Thanks for sharing your build for the rest of us. Im still recouping from BEATING cancer and cannot return to work so I spend alot of time in my little backyard wood shop. I built a table saw using a circular saw, a 10" disc using a drill, a bench belt sander with a hand held belt sander. Looks like I'll finally have a jointer since I do a lot of gluing. Thanks again.
Hey mate, just wanted to say I'm really happy you beat cancer and I hope your recovery is going well. On the plus side having some time to spend in the backyard wood shop isn't too bad at all ;)

i'm so happy to you beat cancer. it's also great to you make your own tools, right?
Thank you sir. I am gonne check out your other videos also because i noticed all the other jigs you made for all the other machines you used in the process. THANKS A WHOLE FREAKING LOT DUDE.
Fantastic, this is what I really needed but didn't know it, yes. Thank you very much. All your videos are a great inspiration for the weekend hobbyist that we don't need to spend thousands of dollars for the professional tools.
Congratulations! You seem to have several home-made tools from portable ones. You must have saved a lot of money by adapting common tools as "bench" ones.
Wondered why you made the last section movable. I built one and now realize that if the cutting depth is changed, the last part has to be adjusted to keep all 3 sections level with each other. Thanks for the video. Great job.
Personally, I like how you actually included what the measurements were for each cut. If I were to make something similar, I would just need to adjust the first cut to accommodate for my WEN hand planer.
Brilliant! Love all of these homemade tool videos!! Just goes to prove you dont need to have an expensive set up to get started or only do smaller projects. Guess what I am building next!!
você é o cara, parabéns foi a mais simples que eu vi até hoje ,com resultado excelente, vou comprar uma serra e vou fazer assim como você fez, Parabéns novamente.
Yet another simple and highly effective design. Great wood working skills. How about a blade guard to protect the fingers? Keep up the good work and give another Masterpiece.... Thank you!
Hello, just like to say I built this design and am quite happy with how it performs. One tip I would give people is the quality of planer you buy will have a huge impact on your results. Buy a $40 planer.. and you get poor adjustment and blades made of cheese. I wish I had invested a bit more because the design is good. P.S. blade guard is a good idea too. :)
Brilliant use of exterior grade plywood for everything. Last week, I Bosch-planed the tip of my left ring finger. Never again_ I will try to copy this super installation !
I love it when in the first 3 seconds of a video I cringe because you are going to lose a finger that way. No guard, no push sticks. You will have an accident with that. Always use a push stick with something like that.
And the safety police have arrived to,save the day. You realize this guy has built almost every tool in his workshop? Safety is fine, but we are working with power tools and some risk can’t be eliminated. In fact, some safety nonsense, like having to push a button before a tool will turn on, which is difficult with one hand, esp. while holding something with the other hand….and it actually makes things worse.
