You really help me a lot with this whole Vinyl world and I'm glad to say you saved my record collection cause I used to own a Crosley but fortunately I barely played any record cause I didn't have enough time. Now I'm saving money to buy the At Lp120! I can't wait!

Or Vinyl Eyezz is using "I said Crosleys are bad, so how can I be wrong?" to deflect his criticism. The section where he's showing users say "a broken clock is right twice a day" wasn't a Reddit user defending Crosley, it was Reddit user saying that Vinyl Eyezz was correct about Crosley while being wrong about many other things. Apparently, a popular idiom is one more thing Jarett doesn't understand.

I'm 52. I've been playing records since I was a kid. And I think your advice is sound. You don't have to be a gray, wrinkling middle-aged guy like me to understand turntables and vinyl. Good advice is good advice, regardless of your age.

Said very well, Rich. I'm 50+ years old, and I've been listening to records since I was 12, 13 years old. Although I also like to listen to music CDs on my hi fi stereo on a Sony CD player, and Sony receiver; I still listen to vinyl records, and intend on getting more records.

Your channel was one of the first I subbed from my vinyl TH-cam account. You have a great way of presenting. I'm 51 and still don't have a VC card for buying records. I think we all have different experiences and perspectives on things. Some people just love to hate and pick the most ridiculous things to hate about. I went through all this with my main Channel, CraigTube (and still do to a small extent). What my viewers told me, and still do, is just keep doing what you do. There's always room for improvement, and kind criticism is part of information gathering. If some people don't like what we do, then I say, "Cam up and show us how it's done bro". I think you have this TH-cam thing down pretty damn good. I like your channel a lot. Cheers Jarrett. Thanks for the shoutout!

That vinyl subreddit is a bunch of toxic assholes circlejerking and making themselves feel special. They will mock anyone who doesn't buy the best top end equipment and bash people that ask newbie questions. Let's be honest, consumers who are looking for a budget table rarely look past Amazon so please stop talking about vintage when mentioning budget tables. Cutting corners usually doesn't involve research or effort so yea LP60 fully automatic with preamp is a good budget table.

Why can't older people appreciate the fact that young ones are keeping this hobbie alive. Vinyl is a hobbie that has stayed over a lot of generations. The first vinyl was created on 1877 and this hobbie is going to die pretty soon if the younger generations don't start appreciate it. This generation might even be the last one that will play music on turntables.
When it comes to Vinyl Eyezz I have to admit that you were one of the first influencers for making me buy an Audio Technica Lp120 which I love and I started collecting records. And I'm 20 years old !! Even though I can't say that I agree with every video you make I still appreciate all of the hard work you are doing to provide this little community with these videos. You are the only one who dedicates so much time to create these quality videos. Thank you for that Jarett !! Please continue do what you do and don't care about what other's say. Most of them treat people bad just because their life is bad itself. Please never stop making these great videos. We love you man !!

while we can all joke about the haters being Crosley owners, I saw that Reddit thread and it raised a handful of legitimate concerns. that's not to say the thread wasn't petty, but let's not be too quick to dismiss, and engage in some honest introspection.
With that said, as a regular viewer I have noticed I'm losing interest in your more recent content. It's drifting towards more general music related stuff. that's by no means bad, but I come here for videos about vinyl, and the occasional cassette.

Some of your videos are good. some not so much it's okay to not like suitcase or budget-minded vinyl record player but for some people that are just starting it is okay to get a budget vinyl record player before getting something more expensive. Some people live in very small apartments and they can't have a full-size turntable and speakers.

As someone who's both been using Reddit and listening to vinyl for a pretty long time. These guys are totally full of themselves. Why can't you just enjoy music the way you want to? Why does being an audiophile have to be a closely guarded art form/in group that you have to do everything right, or else face dire consequences.
You're obviously helping people who are new to vinyl, you're not for the people who have spent years and 1000's of dollars perfecting the craft. Everyone has different ways of listening, cleaning, and enjoying vinyl. Everyone has brands they prefer. Just because this doesn't line up with your perfect system, doesn't mean it's wrong.
Reddit, I love you, but some of your users need to get over themselves.

Jarrett, I recently became a member of Vinyl Eyezz and I am enjoying it more than I can say. What I have a problem with are those that put you down because they are either jealous or have no clue as to what they are saying. I have been collecting records since I was 3 years old. Yes, 3 years old, starting with "Alvin and the Chipmunks". I am now almost 68 years old and my musical tastes have grown, changed, and matured somewhat over the years. I find that the information you dispense is right on target. And even if I disagree with you, I appreciate what you are saying because it gives me a moment to think about what you are saying and why. I have 3 turntables now. And I credit you for giving me the information on purchasing the latest one. I started off with a Garrard SL9B in 1970. I still have it and use it today only for 78 RPM records with a Shure M78 cartridge and stylus. Until recently, my main turntable was a Dual 622. I used it religiously for about 42 years until it broke a few weeks ago. And I was using it with a Realistic/Shure RXT4 cartridge. The estimate for having it fixed was $350.00. I could not see putting that much money into repairing this turntable; the repair cost is more that what I paid for it. So after discovering and watching some of your videos, I purchased an Audio-Technica AT-LP120XUSB-BK turntable with the AT-VM95E cartridge. I replaced the AT-VM95E cartridge with my Realistic/Shure RXT4 and I am in vinyl-heaven once again. It is a wonderful turntable! I credit you for helping me. Thanks for your great videos and sharing your knowledge and love of vinyl with us! I look forward to seeing many more videos over the years!

I find r/vinyl to be amongst the more pretentious subreddits that I use. The last comment you showed (And the negative score it received) sums it up nicely. While that obviously doesn't apply to everyone (there is certainly good information and discussion to be seen there), it just seems crazy to me that so many people get so passionate about what others are doing.
Anyways saw the thread when it was posted, and stayed subscribed. Cool to see you respond to it though, keep up the good work!

Those reddit users simply haven't a clue. For example, VWestlifes' latest video is a detailed comparison to budget low end players ($100 - $150) to mid range ($250 - $350). It's unreal. I always knew about tracking force and anti skate BUT I didn't know that the lower end ones had build in anti skate. Keep up the good work man. I'm 34 and I've been in the vinyl scene since I was about 6 years old. (Inherited my fathers old Pioneer PL x21z) and to this day it's still going strong.

  • @PsyDei

While I don't support haters or anything, several of your videos have wrong info about very useful topics, like (in top of my head, because I subscribed 2 days ago), the cleaning method you use, and wood glue cleaning method. This doesn't mean your entire channel is all wrong, for example, the Crosley warning video, and the "record players" series is just amazing for vinyl starters.
A thing I think you could do, is revisit those topics where you could be wrong and make a new video correcting your wrongs, there are several people comenting on the videos that point out (in a calm, non-destructive and friendly manner) where you go wrong, but I don't see you responding to these comment, only to those where people praise you. I know I just subscribed, but I just can't stand people who can't admit is wrong or doesnt want to get involved in a civiliced debate of different ideas and ways of thinking, so depending on how you manage I could un-subscribe.
Now, you may think, I am a single person, but many other people feel the way I do, and you could lose new, and even old subscribers.
So, don't focus on the mindless rage of the people, and think they're immediately wrong, instead ask yourself if you are doing a good job with your videos and the comunity you have built, and right your wrongs if you consider another point of view or way of doing things is better than yours, remeber that not long ago, you were a noob at vinyls and you are still learning, and need to learn a lot more.
    Peace.

Hey Vinyl Eyes, there is nothing wrong with Crosley. If you want better quality sound, stick to CDs. I’ve owned my Crosley for four years. Still sounds good and plays good. What exactly am I supposed to hate about it. Only snubbed Vinyl collectors hate everything unless they owe it.

Don't take it so hard dude. I'm 54. You made me realize what I actually gave up. As a kid and young adult I loved vinyl, but in the early 80's ( you young kid, you're too young to remember) the recording industry killed vinyl. They released low quality garbage. I was switching to imports from Europe and Japan which were by far much better quality. When Cd's arrived it was a welcome improvement over the mass produced trash records. Your generation has brought the industry back. If it wasn't for you young "know-nothings" records would be dead and in the past, just like many people of my generation.

All that's wrong with these people that are complaining about your channel is that they don't seem to like analogue media, like vinyl records or tape based formats. They all think that 'Vinyl is SO OLD FASHIONED' or Tapes are SO OLD FASHIONED' and we all should be listening to music on MP3's or them streaming websites on phones because its what ''THE COOL KIDS'' are doing. I think its wrong for them to make people like yourself feel that you should not be listening to music on analogue formats, which in my opinion sounds a thousand times better than stupid digital formats. I am 18 years old and I began to re-listen to old vinyl records when I was 13. Not long after that, I began to listen to cassettes again. To this day, I listen to vinyl records and cassette tapes daily. I even buy blank tapes on a regular basis to record my own cassettes. Its a free world. People should just leaves others alone, because we only live for a short time on this Earth. You should enjoy it while it lasts.

I'm 63. I sold hi-fi between 1976 and 1982. I was about as old as you are now. I loved the stuff like you do. I knew a lot about it because for me, it was my main hobby. I really wanted an AR XA before I started selling, btw. I'm currently a long time member of Audiokarma dot org and Vinylengine dot com, as well as tapeheads dot net.
Anyway, yeah, you are occasionally wrong about stuff, but you are right more often than wrong. And to be honest, I've ALWAYS hated hi-fi snobbery. It's why, when I bought what is now my fourth turntable (currently), it was the LP120. I use it to play music between sets for my live bands and to plug directly into my computer for headphone listening (the ones in my avatar). BTW, I sold or gave away at least 3 turntables when I left Seattle six years ago, but I still own my first TT, which is a Kenwood KD500 with an ADC LMF2 carbon tonearm.
Your videos are VERY entertaining and enjoyable. I don't listen to learn about vinyl. I listen to learn about how YOUR generation is approaching the art, which is why I enjoy your videos. And I learned about Amoeba records.
I'm on my hobby farm in south central KY, but was very excited to see your Amoeba Music videos. I'll be visiting my daughter in Studio City in a couple of months and we already plan a trip to Amoeba.
You are always gonna have haters, and yes, some of this guy's points may be valid, to a degree, but nobody knows everything. Believe it or not, because 78's were so off my radar for so long that, when I realized this LP120 would play them, I was about to do what is really dumb: Play them with an LP needle. I had actually FORGOTTEN that they really DO need a much larger needle to ride the grooves properly. I was 62 when I re-learned this.
I guess the old phrase is true: "I've forgotten more than you know, sonny!" :)
Anyway, your videos are very good, and I'm sure you will learn more and more as you continue. So just correct the errors and keep going.
In fact, maybe we can have coffee when my wife and I get there. Believe me, I can tell you stories...:)

I've always hated vinyl records, even when I was a kid, that is why I tried to make a tape recorder in the fourth grade, I didn't succeed obviously, but at least I tried! The ticks, and pops, plus surface noise, and the eccentricity of vinyl records drove me (when I had enough money), to purchase a used teak A1500U, reel-to-reel tape recorder, but I could easily still hear the difference between "source and tape", the dreaded tape hiss. In 1978 as an engineering consultant for the "Great American Sound Co., I traveled to Japan to visit GAS dealers and the Tokyo Electronics Show. In the Sony booth at that show, I saw for the first time, a model PCM-1, 12-bit digital processor playing music from the video track displaying thousands of black and white, undulating bits on the monitor, from the same SL-8200 Beta max VCR I had at home, I had to own one of these! In 1983 I attended an AES meeting featuring Marshall Buck who was presenting his new "coaxial two-way" loudspeaker he had designed for Cerwin-Vega! In his demonstration he was utilizing a "vocal-only" recording of a female singer that sounded fantastic with an incredible "dynamic range" and no background hiss. Immediately after Marshall's demonstration, I walked up and asked him what equipment was playing back his recording of this singer? He pointed to this diminutive silver box, and said I'm using a Sony PCM-F1, 16-bit Digital Audio Processor and a VCR. I said how much for the PCM-F1. He said $1,500.00, and I said sold! I built a portable recording rig that included the PCM-F1 and other custom-made equipment that I utilized for various musical performance recordings made on location and I won an Emmy for an outdoor performance of the opera Faust! I've been a digital advocate ever since, if you wish to learn more about my current endeavors, search TH-cam with the following: "JBL SYNTHESIS CREATOR", and ALSO: "HOWTOHOMELIFE". If you have questions, feel-free to call me @ 818-314-7275 Pacific time. David Riddle

It's nothing personal, but I come here for information about vinyl, and I don't need my subscription feed full of drama. Next time, ignore the trolls, actually respond to honest criticism, admit when you're wrong, and change based on constructive. input. It will only make your channel and it's information improve. you have a good thing going here, and it has plenty of potential, but feeding trolls and refusing honest introspection is only going to hurt you, and your audience.

I dig vinyl, and it's your fault! Thank you for pointing out spelling errors. Hard to take someone seriously when they misspell ignorant... Anyways, remember vinyl was once played by kids on players made for kids with small budgets. Just like CDs, tapes, and MP3s. Kids and young adults... or those younger than 50 are huge consumers of music, and we all share very similar DNA of a HUMAN BEING. There is nothing magic about enjoying music on vinyl that only the 50+ community can comprehend.

I've been somewhat of an audiophile for over 40 years now and I think your channel is superb for millennials who barely know what a CD is that want to get started in vinyl. I became interested in hi-end audio back in 1973. Everything from Dual turntables, Marantz receivers. My first was a 1972 BSR Radio Shack LAB 24 with a Shure cartridge. It was a great beginners kit for a kid like me at the age of 14. My hunger for the perfect sound led me to Yamaha, Pioneer to Technics. I prefer older high end equipment... maybe for nostalgia but I do love the sound they produce. I too have the Audio Technica AT USB 120 and love it. It's one of the best out there today for someone who doesn't have a ton of cash. It also provides a built-in preamp for those whose modern amps that dropped the phone line input. Keep rockin' and ignore the trolls. They're just jealous they don't have a great YT channel. Stay cool.

I have about 1000 vinyl records. I started collecting in the early 70s; (money allowing); and my most recent purchase was late last year. (The new 180gram pressings are magic). There's just something wonderful about vinyl. Playing the record; looking at the album art without a magnifying glass. And I love watching this channel. It's nice to Vinyl making a comeback.
