Another great video! Our son lives in Kadikoy, and when we visited last year we stayed at the Sedonya…recognized the view immediately. Our son lives on the next street, so was super convenient to everything. We had a walk up to that ancient dig, which is next to the local hospital where Florence Nightingale nursed soldiers from the Crimean war. And just next to that was a British cemetery, which was so peaceful and beautifully kept, with a fabulous memorial to Florence Nightingale and all the fallen soldiers from all the wars. It was closed when we went, but the caretaker, Samii, let us in because we said we are English, so sweet. So many memorials and all Brit’s, it was a beautiful place. Anyway love Istanbul, love Kadikoy and visit often. Next time Victors Wine bar. 😉
I recommend you to go to the Adalar (Prince Islands), which is a district of Istanbul. I'm sure you'll like it with both its historical texture and atmosphere. I definitely recommend it.
Thank you Mick & Trudy, really interesting as always. Love the history you give us as well all the touristy info.. Have been many times to Türkiye, never to Istanbul but its top of the bucket list.
I love watching your videos, you explain them very well. As a Turk, you explain it really well as someone who lives in Istanbul at the same time. Always be happy, thank you ...
MICK & TRUDIE. I LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS. THEY ARE VERY INFORMATIVE AND WONDERFUL TO WATCH. I WAS BORN IN ISTANBUL. & WE IMMIGRATED TO THE USA WHEN I WAS 3. BUT WE ALWAYS WENT BACK EVERY SUMMER TO SEE FAMILY!AND MY FAMILY RESIDES IN GOZTEPE.
Thank you so much for another wonderful video. The reason we love you because you two are so nice people and talking nicely and positively about turkey. Really appreciate it
This is the first time I ran into one of your videos and it's about Kadıköy, my home town since I was born in '68! My late father was born here also, and my son & daughter too. My grandfather from the city of Corum was drafted to the army for the war in Yemen when he was 20 in 1917. After two years in the front and the shrapnel parts in his leg, he returned to Istanbul and settled in Kadikoy. This was the beginning of our family's Kadikoy story, more than 100 years ago. Anyway, as you know, it's one of the best parts of the city one can live in and I love it. Thanks for sharing your travel experiences in Kadikoy, I just watched it with great interest. Subscribed too, and I'll definitely be watching your other videos. Cheers & best regards from Kadikoy!
Dear Mick and Trudie you did quite well describing my neighbourhood. As being a tour guide I always suggest tourists in my group to experience Kadıköy. Now there is a quite nice video that I can easily suggest them to watch before going there. Thank you. You guys are wonderful!
I was there 2 weeks ago. Where we stayed is close to Balim Şar and you were right, their food is delicious and very affordable. We mentioned you and they remembered your visit. Thank you for these videos!!
istanbul is a very beautiful and istanbul really has a lot of historical places. i am really glad that you like Kadıköy. i am a very big Fenerbahce fan by the way 😄
I left Turkey 15 years ago because of the general political situation. But, Kadikoy always followed me, the town is really beautiful, live and charming. Kadikoy has always been the part of Istanbul where I felt good and always enjoyed being there. Most of my childhood and high school times passed there. Thanks for reminding me good times :)
I love this video. Being in Kadıköy myself for 27 holidays, knowing almost all the locations you have been, I didn’t know you could also eat at Viktor Levi’s. I always thought it was just a winehouse. I need to try that next year ❤️
In our opinion, Kadikoy and Üskudar (the most mystical area) are the most interesting places to visit on the Asian side of Istanbul. Both are well worth a visit. Çiya restaurant is also recommended for genuine SE Türkiye food and prices are reasonable as well. We also recommend you visit Beyaz Firin, a cafe and pastry shop, which is located opposite the Ayia Efimia Ortodox Greek Church you visited. By the way, a great video of Kadikoy 👍🇹🇷
Awesome video!! I love Kadıköy and you introduced it so well! ♥♥ If you havent yet, you should definitely visit the Prince Islands. There, you can fully see and experience the old, original, unspoiled İstanbul. Gorgeous area.
Loved Kadikoy....Hip and younger...More open..Balat and Cihangir by taksim has a great vibe as well....For some reason I love the area in fatih by the Aqueduct.. Amazing row of meat shops and Wednesday Market is cool...Really cool..Close to the bazaars and walk to catch the ferry to Kadikoy...West to East..lol..Great video...Voice over here 😂..So we could hear yo7 loud and clear.❤
I spent my middle school and high school years near the F.Bahçe stadium(Kadıköy Lisesi) . While I was studying at Istanbul University, I used to take the Kadıköy Eminönü ferry every day. These were difficult but happy years...♥
Great video on Kadıköy; we love the area! We 'discovered' it in 2019 when we stayed at an Airbnb there for about two weeks, then went back and stayed at the Hotel Khalkedon for another two weeks back at Christmastime 2021. That hotel is just a couple of minutes from the church you showed us and about half the cost of where you stayed. Basic, but a really nice rooftop breakfast! I must have missed the memo, because I'd never heard anyone call Kadıköy 'fashionable'! Yes, the area like Moda is very nice, but we always thought of the area as where "regular people" lived, away from the tourists on the European side. We even went as far down as Kartal, when we took the ferry back from Adalar and decided to get off there, where we incidentally found a wonderful Turkish restaurant, Alır, before taking a double decker city bus along the shoreline back to Kadıköy. I don't think we'll ever stay anywhere else except on the Asian side! 🙂
Dear Mick, you brought to my mind the places where I was born and raised, especially around Göztepe park and Baghdad Street, my entire childhood and my best years.
Wish both of you health and happiness. I regularly see your videos. My partner and I plan to retire in Turkiye one day... till then keep those videos coming!!!
Thanks again guys - definitely Kadikoy is on my list for my next visit to Turkiye ( Istanbul) and I will definitely stay on the Asian side this time. 🤗😊🇦🇺
Great video of Kadıköy. I lived in Alaşehir for five years and enjoyed visits to Kadıköy for shopping and walkabouts. Kadıköy has everything you want and need to live in İstanbul. Speaking of rock n roll music, did you listen to Mavi Işıklar, years ago? I met Nejat Toksoy, the bands lead singer in 1964 when he was a American Field Service Foreigner Exchange Student at my high school in Manhatten Beach, California. Nejat passed on July 9, 2019. I miss him very much.
Wonderful video, my home base though I've lived in the US for most of my life no, my brother and his family live there and I stay w them whenever I can make it there. You showed Kadikoy very well :)
What a cute couple you are! Being an İstanbul resident (for four years) I have just come across your video and watched your Kadıköy episode to get an insight into this neighbourhood, which I don't know much, indeed! (lol) Btw, it's hillarious that the subtitle reads (mistakenly, obviously) "Bagdat Cadısı" (meaning Bagdat Witch) instead of Bagdat Caddesi (Bagdat Street). :)
I live in Connecticut, near the popular tourist destination of Mystic. After 9:00 PM, the streets tend to be quiet, and the only cafeteria in town closes at 7:00 PM. It is lifeless at night. Istanbul is a different world.
I love you indeed. As a 70-years-old one, you revived childhood memories in my hometown, which I had not seen for a long time.
i studied 5 years at Marmara university in Kadıköy so Kadıköy has a special place in my heart

Welcome. I was lucky, born in Kadıköy. especially It’s very good city for young people. It’s like a meeting point.
It is a wonderful video which reminds me my childhood memories. I totally enjoyed it. Thanks
