Ryobi really messed up when they made their 18v cordless brad nailers. I mean that in the best possible way. Ryobi has always been known as the “Budget Brand” or “Weekend Warrior” tool line, and while I agree with those funny nicknames, what we have here is something totally different from Ryobi!
If you are short on time or just lack general patience like myself. The quick answer is YES! For 90% of the population Ryobi hit a homerun and produced some very high quality 18v cordless brad and pin nailers. I have used all 3 versions 23g-16g and they have all performed quite well. Especially the 23g and 18g brad nailer. I do cover some weak points with the 16g model in the video and for the price I would still purchase this brad nailer.

I bought this nail gun as we were planning to renew all the fencing in our back garden. As this involved 19 double slatted fence panels, 10 of which needed to be cut down in size, we knew there would be a need for a great th-cam.com/users/postUgkxHQsUrwNr5GQrnx9V4xDdUr56qxwuiBHt deal of re-stapling the wooden slats to the wooden framework. Each alteration required the re-stapling of 62 wooden slats with double staples. Prior to starting the work we ordered sufficient additional staples as per the instructions with the gun.The gun performed fantastically throughout the entire project with no jams of misfires. The adjustable power was excellent allowing the staples to be fired into the 8mm slats to the correct depth. For the price paid this was a bargain and it proved itself to be so reliable and versatile making an arduous task much quicker and professional. I cannot recommend this product highly enough and it will be used on many other projects in the future.
I had the same issue with the 16 GA. Once I used a 4ah battery or higher, no more issues. No misfires or nails not fully sunk. Bigger battery and that thing is a beast all day.

My 16 gauge finish nailer from Ryobi took a poop on me today, it is one year old. I have used it medium to a mild heavy usage. I have two tool platforms, I use Milwaukee and ryobi. I wonder if I should buy another 16 gauge Ryobi finish nailer and expect it to last a year. Or do I purchase the Milwaukee finish nailer with the expectation of it lasting longer?

@@smpd141 To update, the Ryobi nailer was still under manufacturers warranty and for$30 deposit which they will return they will rebuild it for me. Of course at that point I was without a nailer and bought myself another Ryobi naylor. LOL
Bought my first airstrike brad nailer back in 2009, I use it all the time and it still works great, showing some signs of wear and tear, but it has NEVER failed me.
I work for a small remodeling company. I use yellow, teal, and some red tools but mostly Ryobi HP. The 18g HP nailer is one of my favorites. I completely agree with your opinion of using what works for you! Nice video.
I`ve had my Ryobi P320 nailer for around 10 years and I use it in my profession as a flooring installer, plying floors for LVT and fastening beading for wood/laminates, It`s never let me down, the Milwaukee just doesn`t cut it, it overheats very quickly and will cut out too many times.

Hard to say. I don't have much input as I rarely use my 16g. My 23 and 18 still rocking. I did upgrade to the brushless version of the 18g - I switch between 2 sizes of brads often enough I needed 2 dedicated guns. I wasn't expecting much, but damn that new brushless version is nice! The 16g is a beast for a cordless sytem for heavy use I would imagine. Ive had Milwaukee crap on me enough to where I won't even buy it anymore when sourcing higher quality.
I’ve got the 18 gauge. it’s awesome for trim and baseboard,the only down side is I’m from up North. if you leave it in the truck over night you’ll have to hear it up.the grease freezes aside from that, it’s pretty good!

I'm a carpenter. I do lots of trim. I have the p320, bought it about a year ago. I use it to do all trim work. Just trimmed out 40 apartments with crown, picture, base and quarter round. It's been great. It's less than half the price of the expensive battery nailers.i had used Ryobi drills and impacts for 5 years, no issues. I saw no need to change. I see expensive brands failing as often as my Ryobi. I did have an issue with the 16 gauge nailer. Returned it. My 18 gauge really does everything I need it to anyway
Hi, I have a P320 and bought it new years ago but since I didnt use it for a long time it is firing very intermittently now. If I adjust the +- on the back to zero it will sometimes fire again for a few nails and then dry fire or not fire at all. My question is , without tearing the tool apart, do you ever oil it because I think it might be my problem and if you do, how do you personally do it?
Hmmm, my 18 gauge won’t shoot all the time - the light blinks. Very frustrating. I have to open it up and spray WD40.
Yeah, the air strike line are some of ryobi’s best tools. I tend to use ryobi for a lot of their one off or weird tools they make. But was thoroughly impressed with the brad nailer I picked up to redo my basement. One of my top 3 ryobi tool branches (air strike line)

I got rid of air and I am using Milwaukee 23. 18 & 15 gauge nailer. Drill and impact are Flex Power Tools. Thanks for the information I probably can get Ryobi for my daughter since it is not so bad
Ryobi has "excellent" performance for the price you pay for well designed well thought out tool. I've owned my Ryobi 18ga nailer for less than a year and I can't believe how quickly I can take care of little projects around the house. What's great about this tool is that I'm relying on it for more projects. Without thinking about it I'll grab it off the toolbox line up my pieces fire 2 shots and I'm done with it. Sooooo clean, soooo quick, soooo easy. I'm having goose bumps.
I went with the 16ga. finish nailer because it can handle 2.5 inch nails vs. the brad nailet, which is limited to 2 inch. I hope to avoid needing a framer for DIY projects.
Recently I did some shopping (fathers day 2023) and managed to get several tools for awesome pricing and they get the jobs done. My most recent purchase, I had to play around a bit to get the best price, was a 1 gallon wireless air compressor. With 4Ah batteries was going to be around $315...managed to get it with 2-4Ah batteries, charger, a rotary tool and the hose kit for $325.

I work in concrete, form work , I use this 18 g nailer , 6 yrs and still going strong!! One of the best brad nailers , if not the best in my opinion, I have Milwaukee, de Walt , I use this more!!!
95% of my 18V tools are Ryobi. I build homes, do remodels, fire and water resto, etc as well as crafts and small projects on the side. My airstrike tools do Not like very cold weather up here in SW Montana (winter highs are under 32*) but other than that, they rarely ever fail me.
My impact 1/4" drivers just won't die. With the exception of 1 that had the speed trigger fail. Only high speed, no variable speed. Sent in for free repair and also bought the new 4 speed (selector on lower handle) impact and its absolutely awesome for the price.

I have a Ryobi drill and circular saw 18v that I've had since 2008 back when they were ni-cad and they still work using newer lithium batteries. I also have the 18 gauge.
Awesome the NiCad stuff is still serving you well. Cordless sure has come along way. I remember getting my first Dewalt Combo set (NiCad) I thought they were the greatest thing. Now with the lightweight brushless Lithium technology it really dates those bad boys! Thanks for sharing.

Wishes are sometimes granted. Their new framing nailer is due out in January of 2023. It's already on my Christmas wish list.
My one gripe with their "new" 18g nailer is the deletion of the bump fire selector. I am a high production finisher and single fire only for me is a nope. Otherwise the gen1 has been a go to for me for many years now.
Really!? I didn’t know that! I’m trying to sale my old 18g Brad for the new HP. I also like the bump fire and rely on it too. Now I think I’ll just buy the same one but new from the store. I already have almost 3 yrs with mine and it makes a small noise when i shoot, so I’m guessing it’s already on its last.

Ryobi removed the "bump fire" from the P321 but included it in the P322 model.

My 18 gauge Ryobi locks up all the time. Very frustrating. I have to take it apart and spray WD40.
Still have and use the18g from when it first came out. It's great for packing to a job site. With some of the original ones they didn't take a full clip and they didn't like you adding a half clip to the last 5 in the gun. Used within those limits and it never fails.

funny. Ive been putting the 16ga through the ringer for over 5 years, expecting it to break and it hasn't, but the 18ga didn't last a year with light use.
Can't beat getting 5 years out of any battery powered tool like that! Wonder why the 18 crapped out! I never use my 16g
How does this compare to kobalt. 2021 was a great year
had the 23 gauge pinner, was expensive as a bare tool. Around 200 staples, it jammed. When I took it apart to figure out the problem, I lost some small part and have never been able to find it.
The parts list only has big modular parts that aren't cheap (no separate listing for the correct small parts). So I'm on the bubble of just throwing the whole thing away and the $100 bare tool cost that it was. It was convenient for a very short time, but I sold a grex pinner thinking the convenience of the ryobi would be better despite it's fatness and lower quality.
wish I'd have kept the grex.
I went to use my rarely use milwakee 18g nailer and it was dead. Will not do anything. I m thinking about getting one of these nailer.

Ryobi now has the 18g version with a BRUSHLESS option. I just upgraded. It's far greater than the brushed version and I already loved that model,. Only upgraded as I broke a piece on my brushed version! save the money and go GREEN on this unit and I don't usually recommend Ryobi
I got the 16ga finish nailer because it was the only model available in my town at the time. It came “tool only” the least expensive way to buy two batteries and a charger was to purchase the drill/driver combo, so I got that too, even tho I had a new Makita combo. I put the makita set in the house and have been using the ryobi s and they work fine.
Bingo that's what I did and this year I went and upgraded to the Brushless version and the 4MAh Batteries. BEAST MODE NOW! IF only all their products were this good at the RYOBI price these are a hidden gem for sure.

just bought the 18g brad nailer. have seen a lot of crafters using it and am a big ryobi fan for my diy n craft stuff. the price point is unbeatable. i also own dewalt and love the high power corded tools but hate tripping n tangling. great vid!
I feel you. Ryobi is not my first choice for tools. With that being said, when doing my research all the other brands didn't have any better reviews for a brad nailer. So I went with the Ryobi. Turns out it's one of the best tools Ryobi has ever made. I use them daily. I still stand by, that I don't care for most of their products. Luckily I work hard and can afford a little better quality. Just because people say they like other brands doesn't mean people can't buy and make Ryobi work for them. Thanks for the comment! The Ryobi hp 18 gauge definitely upgrade from the older version keeps up with my Milwaukee and DeWalt 18 gauge versions my milwauke tends to jam up more often the Ryobi hp definitely up there with the Milwaukee and DeWalt versions

Hi what size round head nails can this use. im looking to secure decking joist hangers but not sure if the nail will pass through the pre drilled holes
I have the P320 and it continually misfires or wont fire at all. If I turn the plus minus down to zero on the back I can get it to fire a few nails then it stops again. I have 18 gauge arrow nails in it right now and wonder if anyone else has had these issues and how you solved it preferebly without taking it apart?
Would have returned it and exchanged for another. Also make sure you register your products for warranty when purchasing! Mine still rocking like new!
@@RISENGRINDWORKSHOP So I used it like two years ago no problem and then I brought it out to redo my carport or enclose it and now it is very intermittent to the point I was going to start my compressor and use my old mastercraft instead. I watched some videos where they just spray lube down the throat after removing two scres so Ill try that first. IT looks like a brand new tool.

yup, tried four different ones and the same issue, I will take it apart this week and oil it becasue the consenses seems to be that the factory oil stops working if it is not used enough and it has sat for a long time

Keep in mind that Ryobi has updated this line with new models. The P320 has been replaced with the P321. Fortunately changes are small and seem to be positive, like a smaller tip for better visibility.

I've never been able to wear a roybi out on a construction site, the price the other guys want for their batteries is crazy , I have had roybi last longer than DeWalt , I have a bucket of DeWalt tools siting around since I went with roybi

How about your 16g? That's the only model that can at times struggle to fully seat the brad. But like I said, FOR ME that's not a deal breaker since I am not using it daily on jobsites! Thanks for the comment!
My advice is to buy 2nd hand big brand (dewalt, milwakie, etc) tools instead of buying new Ryobi and stick to one brand. I was attracted to Ryobi by its price and bought a lot of wireless Ryobi tools. But over time, they don't last or they don't have enough tightness for a demanding project. My brad nailer only lasted two years and stopped working. Customer service is non existence. By the time I want to switch to different brand, it's too expensive to switch since no brands share same batteries. Buy a dewalt nailer, you can repair it by yourself since all the parts are available online. My bad experience with Ryobi including brad nailer, circular saw, table saw. The drill and hammer drill are ok. Also, used market for Ryobi tools is not friendly. Most of it end up in trash can.
The used market for Ryobi tools is fine in my area. Took 6 hours to sell my string trimmer from listing to the buyer showing up. Had like 7 inquiries in that time.
When buying used there's plenty on eBay

Most people feel this way about Ryobi. I personally don't care for the fit on most of their products. However these right here show you what Ryobi could produce if the market demanded a better product, which of course would increase the price. But hands down, recommend these to anyone. Price savings and performance combo is unbeaten!
