    As an owner of a bigger kubota, I have to say I'm extremely impressed with all you've done with that little John deere. Especially the landscaping you did on the pond the other day. Cheers

    It never ceased to amaze me how much you got done with the little JD. It's kinda sad to see it go...

    Welcome back. I hope you had a great vacation and spoiled your wife.
    I have learned a lot watching you work with the JD tractor.
    It has served you well.

    I have an over-grown lawn mower as well, but when I mow with it I take the loader and rear implement off, makes it about the same size as a lawn tractor...sure they're a pain to turn around when you are lazy and don't take the loader and rear implement off, but once you do you find they aren't that bad to maneuver....but if you have a zero turn, yeah mow with that LOL. I plan on picking up a lawn tractor for next season, because for me its a chore to drop the loader bucket, put the pallet forks on, get the mower deck, take it over to the carport, drop the pallet forks, put the loader bucket on, remove the loader, drop the rear implement or ballast box, back over to the carport, drop the skid plate, and finally install the mower deck.....then when I'm done mowing, do the opposite....its about a 10 minute process just to get to installing the mower deck in my case, and same for removal....since I can't leave the deck on and put the tractor back in the shop its more of a pain than its worth right now....eventually the shop will get an updated door/opening that is large enough but until then its more of a pain to mess with the mower deck LOL.
    I have a regular 3 point hitch receiver attachment. Much easier than messing with an attachment on an attachment...with the regular 3 point receiver hitch you can very easily see the hitch ball and the tongue of the trailer...and you don't have as much weight hanging off the back of the tractor, which isn't as big of an issue with a larger tractor but a smaller tractor you may need some additional front ballast LOL.
    I roto-tilled the old garden spot this past weekend, I'll start throwing some mulch and stuff in there and tilling it in, and I plan on putting in a small garden next year for the first time ever by myself LOL. I've never had one on my own, always had my grandparents/mom to help....but since they've passed away I'll have to venture into this on my own....might as well, can't hurt anything. I miss the veggies fresh out of the garden.

    If you get $25.00 for that tractor, you have gotten your money's worth. You can only hope the TYM will take half the abuse the little Deere has been thru. I do agree, the compact tractors will do a lot of work and are as handy as pockets on a shirt.

    End of an era. Whatever you sell you can always get back, that tractor opened doors for you and provided a life you woulda never imagined. I think you’ll miss having a smaller tractor. Look forward to seeing which direction this channel goes. Hope your vacation was great.

    First comment. Sad day! 🙂 I agree about the mower deck on the 2038R. Just too big a tractor for most yards Great as a finishing mower for larger properties.

    Yes, zero-turns have just about made belly mowers obsolete. We would take the belly mowers off our older trade-ins and just scrap the decks, if the tractor had a loader.

    Brock: Looks like you need to change the picture on your website. You are getting rid of the John Deere tractor and you have already sold you Skid Steer. Still enjoy your videos.

    Brock you did a nice job on the tilling. I always have an issue with when I come to the end and lift it out, I tend to leave a furrow. How do you avoid leaving the furrow? thanks, Bob

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c หลายเดือนก่อน

      I start slowly raising the tiller as I'm approaching the end of a row so by the time I'm at the end of the pass the tiller is out of the ground that way it don't leave the ditch at the end of the row.

    I completely agree that tractors are too cumbersome to be good mowers. There really is no tool that can do all jobs with ease and efficiency. It's sort of like saying, "I have a hammer, pliers, screwdriver, and a crescent wrench. My tool set is complete"! We all know this is not true, but to the inexperienced, it is! My JD 3320 is used as a tractor. For large area mowing and tight maneuvering, I have a zero turn. For the small front lawn, I have a small bagging riding mower. You didn't mention what the next move is for you..

  • @davidhackworth2011

    When the JD is sold. Does all the JD attachment go with it. Or are you going to keep them. Love how your grandson said you got to Be Careful.Awesome

      He'd have to sell the attachments with the tractor, as they don't match the color of his TYM LOL....can't be going and mis-matching attachments now LOL.

    If you mostly mowed and only occasionally used the loader and three point, would you change your opinion about loader tractors mowing?

    • @wildbill23c
      @wildbill23c หลายเดือนก่อน

      They're not bad mowing with when you take the extra couple minutes and remove the loader and rear implement, makes them not much bigger than a lawn/garden tractor at that point....unless you have a really cluttered up lawn, mowing with a 1 or 2 series wouldn't be all that bad....now going to a 3 series or larger framed tractor it would get kind of difficult.
      The thing is a riding mower whether its a lawn tractor or a sub-compact/compact tractor is really made for mowing larger wide open areas, where as the zero turn is great in smaller, tighter spaces with lots of obstacles to mow around.
      I was thinking of buying a zero turn mower for next season, but after loading down my garden trailer like I usually do when doing chores on the property, and then trying to pull it with my neighbor's zero turn and doing wheelies I'll have to stick to a lawn tractor.
      For me, the 10-15 minutes it takes to get the deck put on my sub-compact tractor every week I'd want to mow with it, is more of a pain than its worth....so I'll be going back to a lawn tractor for that mowing stuff LOL. Its not because the tractor is too big to use to mow, its the time of taking off the loader, getting the deck installed, and then having to do the opposite when I'm done. I use the loader and implements more than the mower deck....if I did the tractor purchase again I'd skip the mower deck I think, and get a flail mower instead for the couple of properties I mow occasionally a flail mower would be a much better choice than the mid mount mower deck for the tractor.
