Coming back here after 10 years When I think of LAX this video always springs to mind. That scene of him giving way at 3:30 was always a memorable one for me.
Love it - great video! I like how you can see another aircraft take off from SMO's rwy 21 just before it disappears under your nose. I was based at SMO for 3 years and loved flying around in the area. This video brings back great memories.
Video shows cockpit view of approach and landing at LAX of a commercial airliner at sundowm. Really cool..!! Especially with accompayning song "Los Angeles"
I know it's a progressed video, but It still tricks me into fearing a possible wing strike is coming when he makes the turn off of the runway at that speed.
It is nice when one of your areas of interest - aviation - is combined with great vision and good music, I like this a lot, great job. Did you shoot the video? Although our brightly lit cities are depriving many people of magnificent night skies, I'd be interested in reading a pilot's perspective on city lighting, pro and con.
Bit late on your question. As a pilot I can say that in general city lighting can make it hard to see the airport. Keeping it very simple ID say any challenges presented by city lighting are generally overcome by modern navigational aids. Enroute however cities can be fun to fly over and I personally love seeing the glitter of the city on approach and on climb out!
@@MegaAre12 Better late than never, thanks for your reply and providing a pilot's perspective. BTW, have you seen Wingnut Wick's Hornet Ball videos? If you like aviation music videos and fast jets, you may enjoy them. Safe skies to you.
@@MegaAre12 I always get a window seat. Love taking off or landing in the fall or at Christmas time at night. So many more lights with all the Christmas decorations on the houses.
Is there is a pilot here that can answer a question? I noticed that two streets were were being straddled near the end of this flight, but that the course deviated from that path before landing. Are there any major airports that take advantage of the layout of the city and make runways parallel to easily identified roadways or landmarks? I know that isn't how you land an aircraft, but it seems like it could be of some benefit. I duck hunt a field that has a small building with some weird looking shit on top of it, and I've noticed aircraft in descent always fly directly overhead. I was bow fishing there once and using a handheld spot lamp when a private plane on approach flew over. I shined my light at him instinctively because it was already on and in my hand, but I turned it away in a fraction of a second as I realized my mistake. The pilot flashed his landing lights a couple of times. I hope I didn't mess up his night vision and he was just saying hello instead of being pissed.
Great video, but I will gladly take lagage's sage advice and stick to my Bluegrass! Big airports make for complex approaches. This country boy prefers smaller airports, whether controlled or uncontrolled. Interesting timing for the siren in the audio.... Anyway, thanks for posting it. Great camera work!
Here is the chart: airportnavfinder-dot-com/files/tpp/KLAX/00237SADDE.PDF The approach start from AVENAL VOR? It seems that is, as the acft turns seems like that... tkz
As a retired airline pilot who flew this approach all the time, it is a great memory--and fantastic music. Thanks.
I love watching the IRNMN arrivals fly over me :)

Why does EVERYONE insist on putting music behind their video?
@photobirds Actually the sound of the jet engines would be more of an enhancement than some crappy rock song.
