Thank you for creating this video. I am a 95 Suburban 110k that is new to me. Rear cargo carpet was damp and appears to have been for awhile. Removed the carpet and pad and started investigating. I was led to the rear ac unit. Looks like the plug was clogged. Your video saved me an incredible amount of time removing the interior pieces. Greatly appreciate you!!
It worked! My 97 Yukon was missing the elbow, so water was in fact running back along the tube, saturating the foam and leaking under the passenger side carpet - soaking it. Now it all drips out on the ground and the carpet stays dry. Many thanks! :-)
Again a great video I just learned from you about the elbow coming out of the fire wall mine was 90 degrees I turned to the right just a little and the condensation coming in on the passenger side stop. Thanks again.
You could, but most likely the drips will still end up somewhere on the frame rail anyway while driving (air movement will just take them further back).
It could, I've seen mud dauber wasps make a nest in there for example, clogging it up. But it's on the less common side of causes, worth a check though. You can remove the elbow and insert a pipe cleaner type tool in there and see if you get any resistance.
Could be clogged. Might not be water from the AC, could also be the heater core leaking coolant inside too. Best way to tell is open up the air box on the passenger side and see if its orange or clear liquid you have there.
@@DrShock thanks for the reply. It’s water and it only does it when the ac is on. Any other time there is no drip. I also replaced the dexcool years ago with regular and I am seeing no coolant loss. Guess I’m taking the air box apart! Thanks
in Australia 1993 gmc leaking both sides floor little wet,, vehicle has been right hand drive since 1994,, few rubber missing, shrunk or poorly fitted, i hope to fix these leaks ,, car had crappy owners for years by the look of things,, i can save it. steve in Australia
Dr Shock I have a 97 GMC c1500 truck and I am getting water in the passenger floor board from the A/C. The bottom of the evaporator box was cracked so I replaced it I am still getting a little water but not ad much. I took the nipple off and it was not obstructed in any way but when I checked the nipple coming out of the fire wall with a piece of wire it would not go in. Is that normal or is something blocking it inside?
The inside shape/bend of the evaporator housing plastic tube the nipple attaches to might be what you're hitting. If you have water flow from the drain nipple when the A/C is being used on a hot day you should be good. Other sources can be a leaking heater core, and rain intrusion from the plastic cowling screw holes (black plastic piece that surrounds the wiper arm mounts). If the nipple is draining I'd check the rain angle by putting colored paper shop towels up underneath to confirm. To check the heater core leaking you would put them on top of the carpet, and in back where the edge of the carpet lays against the inside firewall area. Good news it it can only be these three sources. ;-)
One, only the SUV body styles have the rear AC option one. Model year 2000 for the Silverado would have been the new body style, vs the old body style in this video (the old body style on Silverado ended in 1998). But for 2000 it's the same one black rubber elbow in the front coming out of the firewall for the Silverado. Will not look exactly like in the video due to the different body design your 2000 has. That GM elbow part number was used from 1985 thru 2005 on a large number of GM vehicles, part numbers are in the video description.
@@dannytate1305 That's a different design, new body style, than this video covers. But there should be a similar elbow on the firewall near to where the heater hoses enter.
Worst spot to have it drip. It corroded my ground wire that comes from the engine and chassis. I'm going to add a hose to extend beyond the frame so it drips directly to the floor
Thanks for taking the time to make this video

Thank you! Everyone else had so much extra stuff that had nothing to do with the location of the drains.

Thank you for this video!
Great video could you please share with me the products that you used I would really appreciate. Thanks again
I always list the part numbers and special tools used in the video description.
Through the one on the firewall I keep getting a water drip what would be the problem
Can you extend that elbow with a tube so that the leak doesn’t leak out onto the frame and contribute to rust?
You could, but most likely the drips will still end up somewhere on the frame rail anyway while driving (air movement will just take them further back).
@@DrShock yeah.. thanks. I’ll prolly just do a bit of rust repair and call it a day
would that elbow being clogged/damaged cause water build up on my driverside carpet? Thanks

Did you find a solution to that problem? I have the same problem and I’m going to drain these tomorrow to see if it helps
Mine has the elbow but still drips water in floor. Water also comes out the tube too and I’ve tried to blow it out. Any other suggestions?
