You do a really good job of explaining the moment to moment gameplay. A lot of WT CCs meme and jump cut. They are entertaining but they don't do much to help you learn what's going on or why. Even Defyn, who explains things, doesn't always make it easy to follow the what and why of things.
Thanks so much for putting the time into this. It's a lot of info so it needs a few re-watches but glad this is out there for folks to learn. Gaijin needs a Confluence with articles and content like this lol.
Mate these examples are terrific - I'm just under a 2KD with the Typhoon currently hugging the ground and relying on multipath, but your top-down dominance idea is a bit of a lightbulb moment for me Keen to amend my playstyle to take advantage of the Typhoon as you said
Any plane at top tier you're better off not starting on the deck. The more and more advanced missiles get in war thunder the less and less reliable mulipath will become 👍
Lovely to see a lot more information and thought process in a review like this. All the little tidbits of information that aren't too well known like INS and datalink age going to be really useful with the new notch mechanics really widening the gap between a well versed player and a novice. Its nice to know that the game will require a bit more brain power at the higher tiers, help makes it a bit less point and click in my opinion. Thanks for the great video!
I always tell people that say top tier has no skill expression that yes, it's quite easy for someone to point and click and collect a few kills. However, it's not so easy to do that and also have the ability to avoid the people pointing and clicking at you. The skill expression in top tier is the ability to defend whilst also collecting kills and exerting pressure
Fun plane honestly, great to throw around and not lose much speed when fighting at altitude. Radar is somewhat mediocre though, I find the HMD struggling on getting locks that other radar sets would get. As well as the TWS sometimes just taking forever to gain a track on a target. Still worth it given the great performance. Thanks for the heads up on the new notching changes!
mmm i was also considering double binding my countermeasures onto scroll wheel, though i feel like i'd have to switch off of it every time I play a plane with only a few countermeasures....
Yeah so I only ever throttle down with scroll wheel when I'm flaring, otherwise I use my second throttle down bind. Similarly if I don't want to throttle down or waste flares I use my secondary flare bind
Thank you for a such informative video, never played with 120s, just got the Eurocent fighter, didnt know shit about that style of gameplay. But your videos helps a lot)
i’m trying to get better at flying at altitude but can’t figure it out. i only have the f15c to play so im trying to get good at it but sometimes when i go into the notch chaff then go up it shows on my rwr that missles are still tracking and i also don’t know the best positioning and i feel as though i always get targeted.
Are you changing altitude in your notches at all? If you get into your notch, chaff then dive a bit straight after for example you'll generally have much better results (A fair few examples of this in my Rafale video). Can always try going cold if you're feeling overwhelmed As for positioning just be careful not to extend away from your team too much, going cold just to reset your position is often a good idea if you notice you're becoming separated. Getting singled out in the big air rb lobbies is a bad time
After the update, a value called angular velocity speed gate has been added to the misslies; Have you noticed the missiles harder to notch especially without ground clutter? Also the Missile's seekers seem to randomly just TURN off for some reason.
Yes I'm aware of the specific change, it does mean notching is a little harder now, but in my limited time playing so far it's not made a huge difference. It just basically means changing your trajectory is more important now, rather than just being able to rely on your chaff
In the first DL kill, for the Mirage 2K to defeat that, would he have to gain altitude until the missile is below the (his) horizon, so that the missile would turn off the PD filter and become susceptible to notching? Or alternatively, if it were possible in this scenario to do so, would notching both the missile and the enemy plane have worked? Thanks for your videos, I've watched hours and hours of top tier guides on radars, Fox-3, etc, but I've learned so much more in watching just a few of your vids. You really have a knack for explaining things.
If you can notch the enemy aircraft and then the missile yes this does work but can be hard to pull off. Problem is either can relock whilst the other is notched. Ideally you want to have a missile out on them to force them to break their lock. Otherwise changing your altitude in the notch is also important, especially with today's patch
at 5:07 when you said that you were unsure if you were the intended target of the launch or the rwr was just pinging it because sgnal power; there's a fix for it by lowering the rwr sensitivity (go to options -> air battle -> rwr sensibility) i've found to keep it at 30-45% works best and at more you just get cluttered with all sorts of signals (you will still get some signals that are not for you but it's greatly reduced
At min 6 you are doing the top down trick and it got me thinking this trick should work better on the aim120 than the other missiles since the aim120 can't pull aggressively. Gotta try this with those
Aim-120s aren't the best necessarily as they don't have the largest warhead. When trying to kill people who are multipathing you want a bigger warhead for the splash damage
Mate, your content is superb. You explain everything you do, really informative. Learned somethings here. Especially the top down missiles and staying below contrail height. Any reason you keep your TWS often on a small "FOV"?
TWS scope is preference a lot of the time, I don't like the amount of clutter with wider scans, given how big lobbies are. If I'm datalinking multiple missiles, I'll often switch to a wider scan so I can provide guidance on multiple targets, but that's not super often
Also, when you're defending against a Fox-3 which switched from pitbull to DL guidance, would it show on RWR as if it were a Fox-1? (Sorry don't have any friends to test it with myself lol)
You will still have the missile warning, the missile is still looking for you so the signal is still hitting your plane. See how the RWR is still pinging during datalink in the short I made th-cam.com/users/shortstKD2nNv3hls
If the war head is big enough you can get hit by the splash damage. If the aspect is top down enough the missile can fly through your plane regardless (or proxy fuse on you)
Hey, your video has been really great help for me but with this new patch now I find notching is tough again. Is it possible I add you ingame and get abit of help please?
Regarding the notching update it's much more important to change trajectory in your notch (pitch up/down basically). Afraid I don't have the time to add and help people individually 🙁 But don't worry I'll have examples of notches since the patch in the Rafale video next week 👍
Still requires you to be outside the MAR, I also don't like going fully cold if I can avoid it. Partly because I find it more fun to test myself. Also because when you go fully cold and defensive, sometimes the match can end way before you get to do anything
I don't understand why the rafale can carry 8 MICA-EMs when it could carry 6 irl. Gaijin might as well just add the 14 meteor prototype loadout for the eurofighter at that point, or implement the AIM-120 double pylons from the files
To be honest I don't really get into what should or shouldn't be on these planes. I just play what's in the game & play what I enjoy, it's a much simpler life
The Rafale F3R gets 8 missiles IRL. French army simply never used it beacause it didn't need to (exports customers do however). Same way I've never seen more than 6 Brimstones on the EF, yet they got 18 and even the germans and the italians got it while they shouldn't. If we go full realstic mode, then the Rafale would get 60km ranged MICA IR and 80km ranged MICA EM and you would whine even more ...
@@foxzz1999 We have the C F3 not the F3R in game. If the Mica IR and Mica NG EM were added, I would expect the AIM-132 ASRAAM and AIM-120D or even meteor to be added so I wouldnt care too much
I am a little bit overwhelmed bye top Tier germany... Your grind your way up whit useless MIGs than you get the MIG-29 and it feels like you bring a Shotgun to an Sniper battle, now i stand in front of the Eurofighter and have to lern every fucking radar, glide bomb meachanic and all the modern shit...
Yeah take your time with it, I don't know how new you are to radar mechanics etc, but I'd spend some time getting used to it outside of the fox-3 bracket (the MiG-23 MLA maybe?). The MiG-29 and 29G are both ok planes but if you haven't encountered many fox-3s before it's very punishing to play them
Really thank you MiGanFox3, now i know what to Work on. I got lucky and got the Mig-23MF and Whit this Thing i lerned i would say the moste mechanics and got my First beyond visual range kills i will Work More on/in that before i Go in the EF again. But thx again❤

Checked out the RWR 3D render and man that's cool!
You do a really good job of explaining the moment to moment gameplay. A lot of WT CCs meme and jump cut. They are entertaining but they don't do much to help you learn what's going on or why. Even Defyn, who explains things, doesn't always make it easy to follow the what and why of things.
I appreciate that mate, thank you!
Defyn is quite possible the worst explainer, sadly. He could be great.
Thanks so much for putting the time into this. It's a lot of info so it needs a few re-watches but glad this is out there for folks to learn. Gaijin needs a Confluence with articles and content like this lol.

This helped so much with the typhoon. I just got 4 kills in a row by shooting top down
Mf's i improved my notching skills thx to your videos and now they are making it harder ffs
Haha, I'll have examples in the Rafale video don't worry 👍

Yep there's definitely something going on with the radar at the moment
@MiGanFox3 Its a sea harrier radar with ground modes
@iboopy-fl2ic Yeah I'd heard someone say that. I'm not into datamining so I try not to spread info without knowing for certain if it's correct
Fun plane when you don't rip your wings or fight the radar lol
@@MarkDrisch My friend has been commenting about the wing rip but honestly I haven't really had any issues with it

I am 3,000 hours in and I still learning new things from your videos. Would love to see more!
Well I've no plans to stop any time soon haha
great video, merry christamx
Nice video man, I like your commentary style
I would bully anything at my altitude if the radar worked and i could lock anything, haven't noticed a change even with todays patch 😢
Yeah the radar definitely feels work in progress haha

Great video with clear info thank you!
yeah i noticed aswell that it was much harder to notch missiles now and they are less likely to go for your chaff and instead switch to IOG
Yeah I've already got some examples, going to try and post a short tomorrow and will have examples in the Rafale video next week

@MiGanFox3 other than aim120 theres any option without talking about phoenix/fakour? Also fixed typo/missing word.
@@HighRiskV Warhead sizes on fox-3s from biggest to smallest:
AIM-54A/B, AIM-54C, Fakour-90, AAM-4, R-77/RVV-AE, PL-12/SD-10A, AIM-120A/B/RB99, Derby/R-Darter, MICA-EM
