Watching from Australia, and I have Fijian friends here..and now I feel like I want to eat curry, roti's, casava and casava cake..the delicacies of Fiji, yum 😋
I started going to Fiji in 1975...stayed with Families in rural areas. Back then, they ploughed with Oxen and washed clothes in the river. Probably had over 20 trips there since then, but only to Viti Levu. I always wondered about Vanua Levu. Thanks. I love Fiji and the people, they are very warm people...I hope to go back someday.
Thanking you so much Andrew for the beautiful tour of Labasa and Savusavu in Fiji. Seriously Andrew and the world, I never had thought Fiji outback is that beautiful. I had thought Fiji is all about Suva, Nandi, Lautoka and just into the main towns but here it is, Andrew has done a great service to expose Fiji to the world; a service Fiji tourism authorities should have done many years ago. This is true Fiji. Thanking to you Andrew so much!
Thank you for watching and enjoying too! Yes, Fiji is very different and to truly understand and absorb the country, I find this way to to it is the best one!
Yes that's true 👍, I'm from the main island but I still never been this place. Savusavu is the paradise of Fiji. This is the most beautiful place in Fiji because every mix blood of Fiji like Samoan, German, Fiji and so many others still living there until today. This is the place that Fiji connect to the world with all different blood comes together. God bless my Savusavu Fiji.
Wow! This video is a gem. So grateful that you have such a detailed perspective of the island. Thank you Andrew Sir, keep up the good work. Regards from Nadi, Fiji
Those fibreglass boats - they using poles, normally bamboo, to move the boats away from the shallows to the deep part, deep enough to lower the outboard motor.
Love your Fiji videos. I spent 15 months on Vorovoro & Mali island. Northern Fiji is the place to be!! So special ❤❤ shame you couldn’t spend longer there and soak it all in.
Thank you very much for watching! Yes, I had very little time and regret about it. Mali island is so off the tourist radar so I really regret not getting there to see how people leave there. Good for you you managed to absorb the culture of Vanua Levu for so long! Wonderful place!
Wow.. stunning video bro..such a nice a friendly taxi driver..loved the adventure.Watching yr video makes the audience feel part of the journey..thanks so much for such awesome videos...thanks champ.Loved the beautiful island life & Labasa. 😀
Thank you so much bro, for watching and appreciating! I hope to motivate people to go for more adventures and pay attention to small details (even like shop signs), to be curious and just to be able to enjoy the present moment, regardless of all the problems we have back home...
@So Andrew yeah..I have noticed how you love to explore the area like a Local person and it shows the intricate details & true life of Fiji.it is way more interesting than seeing those advertisements which are very commercialized.your videos are a vivid insight into the lifestyle of locals, towns and cities, flora & fauna.plus yr friendly persona makes people share lots of stories with you which makes yr videos incredibly interesting and gives us the audience a better understanding & adds a personal touch. Totally love all yr videos.thanks for being so down to earth mate! :) 😀
Mate, really enjoyed your video. Labasa holds a very special place in my heart( birthplace). Last set foot there in 1987. Felt liked I traveled back in time especially around 19:46 - 20:12 mark. Lived at the Police Bks & to see the actual Qtrs that we lived in just brings back good memories as a 80’s kid. Things have changed a lot though, so once again thank you so much, really appreciate your videos & safe travels.
Actually, I have filmed quite a lot of the neighborhood you lived in. Unfortunately, I removed it from the final video because found it a bit boring just walking around there for so long. Otherwise you could have probably seen much more familiar places hehhh
No problem mate, I’ve seen or come across various YT videos of Labasa Town , but at least yours showed a part of where I spent my childhood due my Dads work (Policeman). It’s on my bucket list to once again visit Labasa when back in Fiji and visit places like you just did. Hope you’re enjoying your travels mate, oh hopefully if you get the chance you wanna visit Fiji’s old Capital, Levuka Town on the Island of Ovalau.
@@nabvelo4926 I see. Safe travels! I wanted to visit many other places in Fiji (Levuka, Taveuni, Yasawa Islands, etc), but had only 1 week there. I still plan to come back again since I live in Singapore and we have direct overnight flight to Nadi.
Thank you, appreciate it! Have a safe and pleasant journey! Must visit place, I felt the island has some special laid back vibe I've never experienced 😁
Hi, thank you! I had a direct flight from Singapore (where I'm living) to Nadi, so I decided to go and explore Fiji. Vanua Levu is a good place to see other side of Fiji life apart from Viti Levu.
I want! A week ago I lost my boarding pass in Dubai Airport and met few Pakistani guys who helped me to find it, so we had good chat and I really enjoyed their kindness! So I'm sure hospitality there is amazing, as well!

At 22:13 mark, that is not sugarcane. It is taro, also known as dalo.
Good video by the way.
Haha, yes! Sugar cane is everywhere there, so I didn't even realize it was a taro :)
Taro is yummy as poi!
Every pari drivers dream to take tourists around 😅😅😅
😆
And now is no more sugar cane there. It's so sad that they can't even renew there land leases. 😢

You went to the wrong shop for a feed of curry in Savusavu.
Probably. I was in a rush and had to choose something based on rating in Google Maps...
Beware of some natives they robbed me and my partner in nadi. 3rd trip to fiji and got robbed again in Suva. Overall its a great country
Oh wow, that's shocking!
Go to Taveuni
Yes, this former British capital is where I want to go, but because I had only 1 week in Fiji I couldn't visit it. Next time, for sure...
