I have a couple of tips and QOL advice for you. You can shatter and impale smaller enemies, killing them instantly. To shatter, R2 throw your axe to freeze an enemy and then hit them at a flat wall with bare hands, like R2 kick. This is less consistent, because of the difficulty making most enemies unfreezable. To impale, first launch an enemy in the air, like with R2 axe heavy attack. Then, throw axe with R2 against a flat surface (this techs a little finicky so keep that in mind). If you do this under good conditions, the enemy insta-dies. If you don't impale, it will still be good, since mid-air enemies hit with R2 axe throw will freeze when hitting the ground. Sorry for the long essay and hope it helps 👍. Oh I forgot to mention this, if you kick a frozen enemy into a normal enemy, it will give the normal enemy a full cold proc.
Ay man I started playing the Ragnarok VALHALLA dlc on highest difficulty and let me tell you, it's on a completely different level... I've beaten GOW4 and GOWR on GMGOW so i consider myself fairly experienced, but the rogue light aspect of Valhalla makes it that much more rage inducing when you die and lose all your progress! Hope to see you get to it eventually 😂

Doing side quest is good to level up. Glad you get the block counter attack. Good when you always do parry blocks. No need to rush. Just because you want to play the next game. Especially in this difficulty setting. Or play in a different difficulty setting.
Focus on your runic attacks man, also change them, they deal massive damage depending on your runic stat, they will greatly help you in the upcoming bosses. There are three levels of runic attacks, and they can ubgraded by exp. Runic attacks are like super attacks like kamehameha for Kratos, there is one runic attack where Kratos shoots a ice beam out of his axe, in another one, he calls a ice storm which surrounds him and damages and staggers surrounding enemies. Also look around for chests, golden chests have very good loot.

Well done with the dragon! Just a little tip: some of the runes that you find in those chests with the floating wooden mask can hold the key to new realms! So if you ever want to try that, look for them!
Do not forget the runic summons where you hold square to get Atreus's runic attack that could have helped you so much in the mine cart puzzle fight, also the reason why they didn't get stunned when you targeted their legs with the axe throw is because of the nightmare that possesses stuff I don't think you can stun it at all unless you're holding R2 hopes this helps

Hey man, try to find all the cyphers, they are very important and give you the option to go to other realms, ita easy to ignore these cyphers and never use them so that's why im telling you this, you can get materials that you can use them on high level armors to craft and even upgrade, im not gonna tell you what where and how to get these materials because i dont wanna spoil the fun for you 4 cyphers will be good enough for now, good luck
Also upgrade ur abilities. By now you can just get a straight up damage upgrade on your laviathan axe by going to the dwarfs and your skill tree. Dude some of the skill tree upgrades are so sick

You gotta play aggresively in this difficulty. Always focus ogres with everything you got so you can mount them and use them to kill everything else. Dont forget Atreus summons by holding his shoot button, really useful in gank fights or to build up stun damage on bosses. Nightmares should always be your no.1 prio in gank fights and then ranged targets. Yellow ring on attacks means they will break your guard if you try to block but they can be parried, red ring means cant be parried or blocked. You already figured our knocking enemies out of the map is good strat so goodjob on that. There is no real reason to dodge unless its unblockable, always go for parries cuz its free stun dmg. Try to memorise the different types of enemies and their attack patterns, for example the draugrs with double axes have a dash move and really long combo chains that you gotta parry to stop cuz if you try to dodge you will take damage. Those homing projectiles or shockwaves can be blocked, better than trying to dodge them. Just generally a good tip is to skip dodging unless its an unblockable red ring attack, shielding or parrying is better 99% of the time.
I noticed that you don't ever use Atreus' runic summons. You should definitely try to utilize his summons during the ambush and some boss fights. They can help you get a breather at times

Just start exploring. Broke and Sindri will give you the main side quests but there are many you find just from exploring.
