Sir (Dr.) Victor Olaiya was an Iroko in the Nigerian and African Music world. I went to U-tube to play your music and was taken back to the old days. What a beautiful remembrance! Your legacy remains for ever. All Lovers of good music will miss you but we are consoled by the good memories you left behind. May you be one of those that will use your talent to praise God at the Mercy throne above. Adieu!
Whoever is playing that bass guitar at 0:20 of that first song... he deserves to have his name in the Nigerian music hall of fame! That dexterity adds a lot of sweet spice to the song!
Brings sweet memories of my childhood. Labalaba was one of my favorites. These recordings are a re-recording of the originals- if my memories serve me right. Love from Charlotte North Carolina USA
I REMEMBER THOSE DAYS GONE BY.BLESS YOUR MEMORIES OLAIYA..VERY SWEET THOSE DAYS. I VERY HAPPY I WAS PARTY OF THEN...THANK OLOTU FOR THIS GREAT MEMORIES.
Daddy Olaiya Victor i really appreciate the good work you did and still doing. You remind me of those days when i was younger and goes to attend your shows along with my old man in Lagos Island, Alagomeji and stadium hotel. Children of today plz learn from this archival musics to bring about better Nigeria. Love you old man.
So sad I never made it to watch your live performance every friday night at Stqdium Hotel surulere. I still love your music till date. REST IN PEACE SIR Victor Abimbola Olaiya. Your contribution to high life music in Nigeroa and Aftoca is second to none.
Awesome compilation. Thanks for sharing these memorable classic eternal songs.''laba laba..'' etc They are all fanstastic oldies that sounds fabulous with age.
Sir Dr Victor Olaiya was one of the best highlife musicians in the whole Africa, I really love his music, just good to relax mind after your daily work. Rest in peace Dr
Oh' my good friend, mentor ,the evil genius Dr. Victor Abimbola Olaiya. Born on 31th December 1930 in Calabar Cross River state Nigeria. Unfortunately, we lost him to the cold hands of death on February 12th 2020. May his soul continue to rest in the Lord Amen.
THAT WAS THE GOOD OLD DAYS WHEN SIR. VICTOR OLAIYA , BOBBY BENSON AND SIR VICTOR WAIFOR WERE REIGNING. I PRAY THAT THOSE WHO SPOILED NIGERIA WILL NEVER KNOW PEACE IN THEIR LIVES , INCLUDING THEIR 3 GENERATIONS.
Evokes a strong but benign feeling of nostalgia for the happy old days that shaped my taste of good life and sense of belonging to a once united and hopeful Nigeria .Thank you Victor, may you live forever, -Chief Sylvanus Nwofa, Belgium
Wow...I've been playing this song over and over again; so many good memories flowing in as i listened to this songs. Bravo Aboubacar! couldn't have wished for a bera song after all the work stress.
AboubacarSiddikh thanks a million, it reminds me of the good old days of our tea-time dance at Savoy Hotel, Balogun Square, Lagos, where Victor Olaiya was calling the shot. Those time can never be seen again cause as a youth, if you've not been to those places as the Savoy at Lagos Island or the Ambassador Hotel, Yaba, at the Mainlands you've not arrived. We really enjoyed our youth.
Another big Highlife mestro that you can never push aside when talking about Highlife that is still living to day, is Dr alaiya. Among the best Highlife mestro that can never be forgotten. You are wonderful baba olaiya
Absolutely, we are losing our Highlife Maestros and Music Legends. Continue to rest in the Bossom of our LORD. ADEIUS!!!

I beg to disagree, it depends on the mood. I am instrumentalist in church and also a band we goes to party like there's nothing else to do. Both Higlife and Afrobeats have their own season. if you need solemn moment which is not too bored go for highlife, but if you need moments where there's vibration at higher tempo. please ask for afro

Different genres, different eras . Each a master in his own right.
