It’s a risk being a landlord. Tenants can either be good or utter trash - whether on Section 8 or not. Just watch a load of JJ cases where the tenants either didn’t pay rent for months or trashed the place or stole everything. None were on Section 8.

The same can be said about landlords. There's just as many cases of landlords withholding security deposits for absolutely no reason except they think they can lol. I've personally had to sue 2 of them for just that. 😂

My uncle took section 8 tenants but got fed up with it. Cost him a lot on repairs.......huge holes on the walls....counters tops used as cutting boards ....leaks that were not being reported and floors and walls ruined...closet doors broken ... . cracked windows etc etc. Sad that because of some spoiled apples everyone pays.

I had my house inspection done by a very reputable engineering company before I bought it. The inspector had all kinds of notes about stuff that really didn’t matter very petty stuff. He said the roof was in good condition with a minimum 10 years left on it. In my garage the one section of drywall looked odd to me he said it was fine I said are u sure it looks puffy like maybe it was wet before but he said no. He noted the door sill next to wall needs repair. 3 months after moving in there is mold growing out of that wall. My father inlaw came over and said the roof of the garage wasn’t built correctly causing water to leak into the wall. I had a couple roofing companies come out and they said not only is the roof shot so is the plywood on the garage roof and half of the house. I called the inspector and he was super rude. So I had to have the roof done soon after buying the house and the framing in the one wall of the garage re built.

They really need to put a time limit on how long you’re allowed to be dependent on these programs. Welfare was originally intended to be a hand up if you fell on hard times, majority of the time anymore it’s a hand out & there’s no incentive to do better. I know people who have fallen on hard times & needed help getting back on their feet; however, most of the people who get on these programs NEVER get off of them. They make it their lifestyle. They will purposely work less hours or not ever get a job again just so they can keep the food stamps/ section 8/ cash assistance whatever it is. Then the people who lose their job or get injured aren’t able to get anything even though they’ve worked & paid taxes for the last 20 years. They need to change the whole system.

One of the problems with getting off welfare is they do not stair step it, it is all or nothing. If you make one dollar more than what they allow you get cut off even if that comes no where near what welfare was paying. They need to set it up so that if someone makes $100 over a certain amount then Welfare cuts back by $100. That way the person is not left high and dry.

Public assistance quickly becomes public reliance. And there’s not enough oversight to ensure abuse of it is taken seriously and ended. The reality of such services is that it doesn’t actually benefit people long term.

Is it a form of government assistance in the USA. People who are low income go through a process and if approved… the government helps them find housing and the tenant pays a small portion of the rent and the government pays the remaining balance each month.
