Flying cars have been around for at least 15 years--the big problem is getting the FAA to stop saying that they're not cars, they're aircraft and therefore a pilots license is necessary--flight plans, etc. They're really held down by red tape at this moment; and even some manufacturer / research firms have given up on their work because of this red tape.
Great, even in the future when we will have flying cars, there will still be traffic jams😒 I bet there will be some restrictions on how to drive flying cars on skyroads; speed limits, how high or low you are allowed to fly, no-fly zones...etc
No-fly zones already exist along with limits on how low you are allowed to fly (known in aviation as the minimum safe altitude). Even if you do fly lower, common logic denotes that the absolute lowest limit exists in the form of that thing we call the ground.
To be fair, a lot of historic sources seemed to be in love with predicting the coming of the flat screen. I mean that H.G. Well's Things To Come not only promoted the idea, but that they would potentially be massive in size. Most recent viewing where I saw this prediction was out of a Three Stooges movie. Used as a gag, the Stooges were concealing a functional refrigerator inside a functional television set. The TV screen gave a clear image of a show in progress. Only the screen doubled at the refrigerator door, giving access to the food inside. And this literally shows no bulky tubes or electronics were behind the screen. A literal flat screen TV with seemingly modern designed electronics in use. They also doubled down on the same idea later into the movie when the Martians were doing a Zoom style call to their HQ on a flat screen. There are many other references to be found, as well. Just a bad one comes mind... Star Wars Holiday Special. My suspicion about this is that back in those days, they had movie projectors. Which would place the image onto a flat, fabric screen. Which just naturally leads the unconscious mind into dreaming that in the future, the image would appear in much the same way via some as-of-yet unknown technology that removes the remote projection device from the works. Personally, I'm kind of impressed with how The Jetsons very loosely predicted the coming of E-Sports by electronically controlled robots in football. Now had they simplified the control interface and placed it into a virtual place...
3D printing of food may be coming, but the Star Trek replicators would be even better and more useful. The problem with flying cars would be keeping them from getting blown around by variable winds. Again, Star Trek-style transporter tech would probably be more efficient for relatively short distances.
@@nobody7817 : That still doesn't address what I said about what might happen with strong winds. As with other issues (not related to the flying car issue) something new always needs to be checked out and sometimes "fought over" until it can be deemed safe, and legalities can be straightened out. These things always seem to take time. There is very often red tape to deal with. That's nothing new, really.
I wonder how 3d printed food will affect our bodies. Will it be as good for our bodies? I am a little scared about fling cars. How high off the ground would the roads for fling cars be? If you get too high off the ground, then the smalls crash or breck down that would be harmless if happened on the ground could be dangerous or deadly if it happened to high up. The Jetsons had moving sidewalks. In a way we have them now. In some places, like in airports, they have moving sidewalks.
These r all so cool that have become reality. Robots like Rosie maybe like 20 years from. Give a take. If they become sentient with emotions, it'll b like playstation game of Detroit: Become Human. In the sims game of Makin Magic, there is a skeleton maid name Bonehilda. How about that for a maid?
Call me old fashioned, but the self driving cars are very dangerous. Like any technology, it has defects and breaks down that would put people at risk.
When it comes to technology shows like The Jetsons and Star Trek, just to name a couple, weren't a prediction they were inspirations for people who make them a reality.
You missed one.... The "slide walks" which are VERY prevalent in airports these days. I think these were in other movies prior to this cartoon, too, but I am not sure about that.
What I have noticed is more and more of my neighbors have space oriented names. The Orbitz moved in last week, my boss is now Mr. Rocketstein, and my daughter's bff is Cindy Globularcluster. Weird.
There’s only one very serendipitous original idea is the peekaboo prober which did happen but, despite now having better technology, it just stayed a curiosity that hasn’t caught on. The rest existed or had been thought of previously or were just futuristic tropes.
I think Dick Tracy Comic Strip introduced the wrist watch as a communication device in 1946. This could be considered a precursor to The Jetsons' device.
We already have manufactured food which is the bane of nutritionists. The best advice that they can give is to eat whole foods. It may be a century or even centuries before foods can be created that accurately mimic real food and reproduce the complex matrix that provides our best nutrition.

I bet there will be some restrictions on how to drive flying cars on skyroads; speed limits, how high or low you are allowed to fly, no-fly zones...etc
No-fly zones already exist along with limits on how low you are allowed to fly (known in aviation as the minimum safe altitude). Even if you do fly lower, common logic denotes that the absolute lowest limit exists in the form of that thing we call the ground.
Video calls were possible by the late 60's. They required expensive equipment, but it was possible.
Thumbnail: George has a rager for Jane.
What they failed to predict was how obese the Jetsons should have been considering everything was automated for them.
LMAO... I never thought of that! You hit the nail on the head!
My kiddo was born in 2022, just like Gorge 😀
Smart watch and video chat.
Clearly 10 cases of life imitating art. Many of us who grew up with sci fi (and cartoon sci fi) went on as adults to bring it to life.
All of these items were imagined long before the Jetsons
And the #1 of a household robot? Go all the way back to the 1920 play R.U.R
Didn't "Rossum's Universal Robots" actually coin the word "Robot"?
@@cindydott452 yes
In my Opinion: I find the Word "Prediction" to be Somewhat Accurate, but However it's up to Interpretation.
This was a fun video, but the Jetsons totally missed cell phones and home computers.
And Dick Tracy had a smart watch years before the Jetsons did!
my apologies, but i 1st remember seen the "smart watch" in Dick Tracy conic strips before Jetsons telly series
Even the Dick Tracy cartoons 3 years before this.
3D printing of food may be coming, but the Star Trek replicators would be even better and more useful.
The problem with flying cars would be keeping them from getting blown around by variable winds. Again, Star Trek-style transporter tech would probably be more efficient for relatively short distances.
I can hear Dr. McCoy now complaining about getting his atoms scrambled.

@@jacklow9611 I never said you were wrong... just shedding more light on the topic! :D
I am still waiting for the food-a-rack-a-cycle where you can get a nice hot meal with just a few presses of some buttons!
There was just a pitch on Shark Tank about a device similar to that.
Forget Apple, what about Google Assistant
Nice video 🥰
My favorite is George saying that the One Hour work week was killing him.
The very first jetsons episode said that the pollution forced the people to build above the clouds. The concept predates the nineties.
Who says The Simpsons were the only ones to predict the future?
Um... nobody. I mean, HOW could they? We've had Star Trek, Dick Tracy, etc...
9:07 Self-driving is still dangerous
Yeah I would not get in a self-driving car I would rather walk or get a bike!
Especially when you take in account their vulnerability to hacking.
Call me old fashioned, but the self driving cars are very dangerous. Like any technology, it has defects and breaks down that would put people at risk.
I don’t trust self driving cars.
eh... you haven't seen the way my Ex drives...
Dick Tracy has Jetsons beat when it comes to smartwatches.

When it comes to technology shows like The Jetsons and Star Trek, just to name a couple, weren't a prediction they were inspirations for people who make them a reality.
I'm waiting for the moving apartments. If you don't like your neighborhood you can just move up a couple hundred feet 😂
It exists already... Dubai. google that...
Weird.
great video
There’s only one very serendipitous original idea is the peekaboo prober which did happen but, despite now having better technology, it just stayed a curiosity that hasn’t caught on. The rest existed or had been thought of previously or were just futuristic tropes.
My favorite episodes were the ones featuring Astro. One where he makes his debut. And the other where we learn his backstory.
I think Dick Tracy Comic Strip introduced the wrist watch as a communication device in 1946. This could be considered a precursor to The Jetsons' device.
Yeah but Dick Tracy had the first smartphone on his wrist like a watch.
I love this cartoon so much!
Our Roomba is "named" Rosie.
Mine too! 😂
I would say the Jetsons, the cartoon with speed buggy, and knight rider inspired the self driving car
Is Rosie from New York City? Because she has a New Yorker accent.
the future is just old thoughts
Marvellous !
The wrist watch radio/video phone was actually created years ago in the Dick Tracy comic strip.
We already have manufactured food which is the bane of nutritionists. The best advice that they can give is to eat whole foods. It may be a century or even centuries before foods can be created that accurately mimic real food and reproduce the complex matrix that provides our best nutrition.
That was also in the show if you go back to the very beginning of it.
