I used to have a Top Cat back in 90's. The ball diff melted TWICE and I gave up the car as the spare was too expensive.
Fast forward more than 30 years, I bought and built a Cougar Classic re-re and the diff didn't melt, but I managed to break the shaft of the counter gear? somehow and thought that was it. Then, I found a slipper clutch on ebay and tried it as the last resort tightening up everything like crazy. Finally, the transmission is holding up, so far. I haven't figured out how to do the wing, though.... 😓😓😓
This one also has a slipper clutch, so I might buy one. However, I have spent too much on other re-re's (such as Kyosho Plazma Mk III, RC-10's, and Tamiya Super Astute) this year, I might sit this out for a while and hope they won't run out of stock.
