    RECIPE
    3g | 0.1oz BTMS-50 emulsifying wax (other complete emulsifying waxes should work as well; though maybe not EWax NF. Do not use beeswax or BTMS-25!)

    3g | 0.1oz castor oil
    1g | 0.03oz vitamin E oil
    50g |1.76oz just-boiled water
    15g | 0.53oz vegetable glycerin
    24g | 0.85oz apple cider vinegar
    1g | 0.03oz phytokeratin (optional)
    1/2 tsp silk peptides (optional)
    20 drops grapefruit essential oil (pink or white)
    10 drops pine, spruce, or fir essential oil
    5 drops cardamom essential oil
    Broad spectrum preservative of choice (Keep scrolling for more links on preservatives)

    Hello Marie, my name is Alkisti, I am from Greece, and I have been watching you for a long time, trying to do what you do. So, I tried to make this conditioner, and I did! Some notes: 1. The vinegar smells too much, I couldn't cover up the smell with the 35 drops of essential oils, I put around 40-45. (I know I shouldn't change the analogies). 2. I replaced BTMS with OLIVEM1000 (I can't find BTMS in Greece), and it worked out perfectly. I was afraid it wouldn't be stable (as I have read online), but it is just fine, and not greasy at all. So, thank you so much!

    I absolutely love your recipe. The second time i made it i made some changes. I actually used behentrimonium 250 instead of bmts 50. For essential oils i used ylang ylang and bergamont. It smells awesome. People keep asking me what i do to my hair since it looks much healthier and smoother and i told them i used the Beebee recipes. That's what my little one calls you. We love to watch the recipes on the big TV.

      For the behentrimonium i used the same amount with btms 50. I added 14 drops ylang ylang and 6 of bergamont. I wanted just a little citrus scent

    This recipe is very interesting ! Could I use another oil other than shea butter and castor oil ? I was wondering... doesn't vitamin E lose its properties when heated? Shouldn't we rather put it in the cooling phase at the end of the recipe?

    Yes! This is the conditioner I've been searching for! ⭐💖 I have everything to make this. Now liquid shampoo would be awesome for those whose hands or skills are not quite to CP soap yet. 😘

      Woohoo! I do have a couple liquid shampoo recipes up on the blog, but they are MUCHO more labour intensive than CP soap since liquid soap paste is a pretty time consuming process. Might want to start with CP ;) It's easier than you think, and now there's a video for it!

    ok so i’m not sure if you’ve addressed this, i can’t seem to find it (but i could be missing something).. the amount of essential oil/fragrance and silk peptide are by drops/tablespoons instead of calculated grams - do those not need to be measured exactly like the other ingredients? why? thank you, you’re lovely and wonderful and have seriously created an obsession for me here 😝

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! So, there is some more flexibility with those ingredients. For the silk; a bit more or less won't break it, and for the EOs, most people do not own a scale precise enough to weigh them out. I have been doing everything in weights/percentages more recently, but this is an older recipe :)

  • @kathryncastanares525

    ok so, i almost gave up on making my own conditioner until i found this video. i honestly dont know how i miss this one. i binge watch/read your videos and blog all the time.lol anyways, i finally know now what emulsifier works best thanks to you. i was using regular ewax at first. i just bought some btms50 too thank goodness.lol i was wondering, what can i do if i dont have those essential oils? i have a very small collection I've started but just not these one you use. i know i can probably use what i have, but would i add the amount of all your put together? or just to my preference of sent? i hope im making sense.lol im just still fairly new to this and after seeing so many different ways of making conditioners, im overwhelmed and confused a bit. just because some recipes use e/o for preference and others are a vital ingredient to the recipe.

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Kat! You can really use whatever EOs you want to-perhaps do some research into ones that are good for your hair (dry/curly/oily/etc.) and go from there. I'd probably aim for approximately the same amount I used, but definitely trust your nose as your guide :) Happy making!

    Marie, i did this 2 in 1 conditioner, and i liked it because i felt my hair very clean, the vinegar did something to my natural curls. My hair had more volume which i like, because i have fine hair and i love having a lot of volume. But there is something i will like to improve. I need a litlle more conditioning. My hair felt a litlle dry. What can i change? Can i put more oils? Or more BTMS 50 ? Or bring dowm the acidity part? Can you help me?

    A lot of these recipes I find are for long hair. I have very short hair. I would like to try a recipe but have limited ingredients on hand. I have: cocoa butter, regular unsalted butter, sweet almond oil, vegetable glycerin, extra virgin olive oil, honey, and extra virgin coconut oil, vanilla extract. I am looking to make a body butter and something to take away the wavyness of my hair and make it straighter. ( It looks really unkept otherwise and drives me insane. It's a short trip... .lol😁)

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For the purposes of DIY, you have cocoa butter, sweet almond oil, glycerin, olive oil, honey, and coconut oil-vanilla extract and butter are for cookies, not skin care :) You've got the makings of a body butter (www.humblebeeandme.com/coco-cocoawhipped-body-butter/), but if you want a hair conditioner you'll need some ingredients like BTMS-50 and a preservative. I'm not sure how straightening will go, though-that sounds like a chemical hair relaxant to me, though I'm no expert in that area.

I've been playing with making my own natural cosmetics but the whole preservatives thing is confusing and overwhelming. oh, and did i say how much i love your videos?

      Thanks! Your questions would be best answered by reading through my series of articles on them (www.humblebeeandme.com/?s=preservative)-that will be much more thorough than any TH-cam comment could be!

      Thanks for your response! Prior to posting my question i did loads of reading, like up until 3 am reading and researching until my brain was about to explode, but could not find an answer. When i google "should i use a preservative when using castille soap" I get no answer. The recipe is basically 8oz water, 1oz castille and essential oils. If u could please let me know I'd appreciate it. Or point me to where i can get a clear answer. Thanks so much for all you do!

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Soap is self preserving on its own, but something that heavily diluted should have one. The question isn't really "should i use a preservative when using castille soap", it's "should i use a preservative when using water", which is likely why you didn't get an answer that was clear :) Many things do not require a preservative if pure (soap, salt, honey, sugar), but require a preservative when mixed with water!

    Hi Marie!! Question for you - I am trying to avoid ACV because I am blond and I'm afraid my hair will be darker if I use it. I have been using water with a little citric acid as my acidic rinse, which works well, but I really want to try using a proper conditioner. Do you think I could omit the ACV and add a little citric acid instead? Thanks!!

    how can you go about making sure that the conditioner doesnt melt or go bad after youve made it cause i would get worried of making the conditioner and it would do that if i had it in the bathroom. ive been doing a plain yogurt and clover honey conditioner recipe which is good, i just get worried about it melting and going bad and i keep thinking if it was better if i kept it in the fridge.

      Hey Monica! It will likely thicken up over the next few days, but it won't ever be very thick-you'll notice mine is pretty thin as well. If it's still too thin for you after a week you can try adding a bit of guar gum (1/4-1/2 tsp) and blending that in with your immersion blender to get a thicker consistency :)

  • @sashag1865
    @sashag1865 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    My attempt at this conditioner turned out waaayyy thicker than yours did for some reason. I didn't have phytokeratin (just used extra water)or Vit E (used an additional gram of castor oil instead); apart from these variations I did exactly what you did in the video. First time mixing it was the same viscosity as yours is in the video, but 10 mins later it was already thicker than your final result. I can't use a funnel to help package this now... lame.

      Awesome video BTW!!! Glad you decided to start making these :)

    • @HumblebeeAndMe
      @HumblebeeAndMe  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hmm. That's odd. The first culprit with different thickness levels is usually a different emulsifier, but if you didn't change that-perhaps your water part evaporated off a lot of water before you combined the two? Did you keep the water bath at a bare simmer and only leave it over the heat for ~30 minutes?

    • @jeal4311
      @jeal4311 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Humblebee & Me i think the difference is the extra gram she used of castor oil...that changed the ratio of oil-water

  • @eveninglakegems9410

    How would I make a thinner leave in conditioner? I have also had trouble with emulsifying wax mixing my oils and water. I keep making my leave in conditioners too greasy, too thick, or too thin. I haven't found a recipe I really like.
