The progress looks great! The layout is really coming along well. As a Southern Pacific modeler, I was happy to see an SP AC4400 leading a train, even if it was patched. 😀🙂
Looks good Daryl. Devils Slide and Croydon are complete. Next up detailing, ballasting, paving, and finishing. Now to work on the final areas of the layout Echo Pass and the Westvaco Plant.
Try cutting molding cloth to the size you want. Lay in place and take a spray bottle of water and wet it down. Use a brush to lightly brush the watered cloth. Works great for me and very little mess. Good luck.
Great update Daryl. Bridges look amazing. I was thinking about you when I received a large box from Lombard Hobby Shop. Got a good order. Good thing about N Scale. Big box = a lot of good stuff in it 👍
Another great update and another AFC West championship! Thanks for the details about the rosin paper, plaster, and ground cover. I’m at that stage for my own layout and appreciate the insight into your process.
Looking good Daryl - great progress! I'm glad that you mentioned that the scene by the cement factory is rockier and greyer - that would be my only scenic observation. Secondly, been meaning to say this for a while - as all of your switches point East, I conclude that most switcher operators would there fore orientate the switcher with the window end towards the switches/loads on safety grounds, not (as you presently have it orientated) the hood - Good Luck!
That makes sense, but it seems I always see them coupled up the other way. Maybe that's how it came from the leasing company and there was no where to turn it around, 🤔
Morning from Brisbane Australia, your layout just keeps getting better and better every week Daryl, looking forward to seeing the next one, have a great week, from Rusty in Brisbane Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺👍
I find the canned spray paint seems to go on thicker than the Acrylic paint I use with my airbush, so I don't use it. But it does get results quickly. Looking great, your making progress fast.
those decoder reviews sound pretty interesting. personally, and recently, i decided I'm gonna go with soundtraxx Blunami. my first ever conversion was a tyco "1880" 4-8-0 and with a motor replacement its one of my best runners, my most recent convertion i replaced a burnt up decoder in a bachmann 4-4-0(my fault) and it wrks well. plus i ca just use my phone so if i wanted to travel and can take less with me.
Hey, Daryl. I've noticed you run a lot of consists with DPU's since you switched to HO. But I noticed on your N scale layout that you did not. Do they not run properly?

Love patched UP locomotives
It is truly amazing (to me at least) just how long of a train you can pull, without a derailment.
It takes a lot of practice! 😁
Wow, what a transformation since my visit less than 3 weeks ago!
Things are really starting to come together!
Some nice scenery work Daryl…

Really appreciate it!
Looks great! Lots of dust that covers everything around cement plants. Maybe try a grey wash/dusting on everything around Holcum Cement. - Steve

Not that big of an issue when painting track. Different story for painting or weathering rolling stock or Locomotives.
