During WW2, the British uses Welsh as a code language due to the highly unlikely possibility that the Germans would be able to translate the message if it was intercepted. It's not an easy language to learn even for native English speakers, they're from completely different linguistic families. English is rooted in Latin and Germanic, whereas Welsh is a purely Celtic language.
@@josh420masterB well, the celtic part is debatable. Its Brythonic. We're more western Atlantic peoples than celts. I found English really difficult as a child. Welsh is far easier once you know the letters. We tend to have only one word each for things.
@@StephMcAlea This is true, but we still get branded as either P or Q Celtic, as we adopted their culture heavily, regardless of Genetics, as Welsh and Brythonic people were first on Britain, and the Goidelic first on Ireland.

Is Welsh considered Celtic? I didn’t know that. I assumed since wakes has a separate language entirely which isn’t some form of Gaelic it must be considered something else.
Thank you for the clarification. I’m welsh and Dutch on both sides of my family, but they have been in America since pretty much the beginning, so obviously a lot of that information is lost along the way. That’s why the internet is great!
I find myself coming back to this collection every so often. And each time without fail, I can pick any song on the list and as soon as I hear that first sound, I get this indescribable feeling. It feels like home, but a home I've never been to and am still trying to find. It feels hopeful like there's still something out there that's going to define what my life is and who I am, even though my life and myself feel empty right now. I've explored a lot of different music genres in my life but this genre in particular I feel so deeply. I don't really know why. And what's weird is, I wouldn't even call this my favorite genre. But somehow it feels like the genre of my soul. Maybe it means I'm out of touch with my soul, or at least a big part of it, I don't know. But I do know I will keep coming back to Gaelic music in the future. I have to.
I think you're right. You know, my dad's side doesn't come from that part of the world, but the roots of my mom's side has always been a little bit of a mystery...
