I'm stuck at 6:21 where you send your filled in area to the back and then select your text and change it to white. I cannot select my text after I send my fill in to the back. I can only select the whole thing and the whole thing changed to white

Unfortunately. I think there is a step or maybe a difference in version from 5:27 to 6:16. The arrange send to back doesn't reveal any of the outlined expanded shape after you unify the font. Right at 6:17 its when things get a bit funny. The move to back and the "invisible" outline under it are not available. Maybe a preferences thing? I wonder what the issue is. Thanks for the VID tho!

I have a question, so I was following this tutorial but in Illustrator when you got to the part where you selected the text layer and made it white on mine, the text layer was merged with the rest of it and I followed the tutorial spot on. I don't know what to do I've tried going a couple steps back and fixing it, I've tried everything else.

You're barely explaining anything in your video. You basically say what you are doing without explaining how you are doing it so as for someone who is trying to learn illustrator this video is pretty useless.

Same, there is a step missing OR some kind of version diff, Ive been reading all the comments and I only find that at some point you have to ungroup something and then you can exectue the send to back at the 6:17 mark. You find a solution at all>?

+Close One Hey! Just imagine you are working with paper sheets on top of each other. What sheets do you need as a "mask" to cut around and get rid of the "black background"? Just select those both and hit minus-front or whatever option you need within your logo (depends which layer is on top). PS: You could also use the Shape Builder Tool for a more intuitive way. For those thats stuck on step 6:15 , make sure your font is not black, because if both of the colors were black, you would not notice it when you send the offset back.This was the problem for me. So basically, make your starting font any color other than black :) hope this helps!

Maybe its the grouping of the object? Did you right click -> Ungroup?
Yeah, it just made the whole thing black and untargetable, but when i jumped inside the shape it worked just fine I think.

When I press 'e' and pull the text it just goes back to the regular text and does nothing.
Select your text, expand it by going to Object -> Expand. He also shows this in his video, at 1:53.
How come your zoom function is so smooth?!
Make sure to enable GPU boost buddy, its a rocket icon at the top of Illustrator!
