  • Century arms C308 sporter.
Rifle was purchased used but is new to me. I have not shot this rifle yet, this was the initial footage of me doing so. Worked well with 6 different brands of ammo despite the low volume of shooting.
    I am NOT an FFL.
Nothing is for sale on my channel, please do not ask.

These are great rifles for what they are.
Sadly I don’t have a Garand, however I do have an M1A and mini 14.. those are very fun rifles.

Could you elaborate on exactly what you did to make the CETME mag work? I didn't quite catch where it was specifically that you pried on the magazine to get it to work. Thanks.

On that particular magazine shown, I didn’t have to do any adjustment whatsoever.
However, there are some magazine catch sections on steel Cetme magazines in-which are fairly dented inward, those can be adjusted by either adding material to create a shelf for the catch or using a flathead screwdriver or something similar to a micro bar to get the flat flashing metal up enough to once again engage the magazine catch. As for feed lips, similar to Sten mags, I’ve seen internal metal wedge blocks used to reshape bend feed lips. Personally I’ve never done that, but if I can find the online article I’d love to post it as I thought it was a brilliant idea. Again, perhaps not for free states but for those in restricted states needing to repair owned surplus mags that are a little worse for wear.
You can also adjust the over insertion tabs. Aluminum mag tabs can be done as well, but I’ve seen the aluminum sort of crack away if it’s really gnarly. Meanwhile I’ve seen some guys bring back a steel Cetme mag from the grave by adding material and grinding away. A few forum posts online talk about some of that.. mostly in states with mag restrictions.. but for the rest of us, while the getting is good the mags are affordable and plentiful enough to just purchase more.. but there is an option for home repair should an end user get a well loved magazine.
There are also some great videos and articles on Sten magazine repair! Those are a little more popular as there are many full auto firearms that use the Sten mags and the feed lips apparently go out of spec with the softer metal.. but there are others that can go in depth on that more knowledgeable than myself. I’ll link the Sten mag guys video if I can find it again.

Thanks for your response, and your explanation. I _think_ I'm having a problem with a magazine that is not seating deeply enough bc of the mag stop.

@@jeffreyoldham55 I would also check your magazine catch!
My C93 had a very rounded catch and I replaced it with a NOS one online, that allowed for the mags to seat and actually lock in place. I bet your mags are well within spec, but I’d take a look at that mag catch. APEX, Center Fire Systems, RTG parts, HK parts, Midwest Gun Works, and Gatewood supply should all be decent sources to find a new mag catch if yours is worn down!

The mag was replaced by Apex, but I'm looking at the catch as well. I really want that extra mag. Thanks again!
