Electric motors, even an electric razor should never run while plugged into the same surge protector as electronics. That bypasses the protection!. Voltage spikes occur the instant that motors are turned off because they momentarily become generators. Surge protectors should be replaced every couple of years depending on your local conditions. I've had 2 expensive stereos fried by surges. One had a plume of smoke coming out of it. I could have sworn the smoke cloud looked like a dollar sign!
