    Love your channel, been subscribed for years, was contemplating purchasing some of these today and I knew the basics, it's funny how as I get older I'm happy to share the knowledge that I have and you shared your knowledge very well in this video, what's perplexing is reading all these redundant comments that ask you to tell them what you just told them separately in each comment, like you have the internet in front of you and all of this information awaits and you being a busy TH-cam Guy Fish breeder and all around swell dude are supposed to answer every single question which was already answered, keep on keeping on

    Hello Cory. looking for a little information. I got a customized 65g aquarium. I put 22 1"-2" Mbunas in there along with 2 1"-2" bristlenose plecos. One Super Red and One Albino. After a while together I thought the plecos wasn't eating like they should. The Mbunas were eating everthing. So I thought about the 15g Fluval Flex that I have and decided to put the plecos in there so they can get their weight up. By then should have the 90g acrylic. Then I can put one back in the 65g with the Mbunas and 1 in the 90g with the all male Peacocks that I plan on getting. Now my question is, I thought the plecos were both males but turns out this week that they had fry. I don't know when. I clean my tanks every Sunday and I just so happen to clean the substrate in the tanks this weekend. So it's no telling how many they had. We only count about 8. My question is, should I buy another tank or should I rock the 15g until the 90g gets ready in about 5-6 weeks and the two plecos can be separated?

    I had my first batch of SR BN fry and everything has been going great with them. I have three adult SR BN (one female and two males) in a 75g community tank while the fry are in a 20g with shrimp. I have noticed the female's fins have been getting super tattered and have read that happens during breeding. Should I move her to the 20g with the fry to have time to heal and be away from the males?

    I have a few questions; how often do you change the water and how much when you do? how often are you feeding them and the fry? Can the fry grow with the parents or are they seen as a threat at some point?? great video and thank you.

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      +David Ensor In this current setup, water is changed 10% a day automatically, fed 5 times a day, 4 with an auto feeder once by me. The fry can be raised with the parents. Just making sure you keep the water clean as a lot of plecos eat a lot.

    I have a male and female about 2 inches big and I added a little cave. At first I saw the female in there and now I see the male in the doorway and he seems to be fanning, but I don't know for sure if there are eggs in there. Not to mention that I have not seen both in there together at the same time. AND to make things weirder he seems to stay in there during the day, but at night he goes elsewhere (the tank light shuts off at night too). Is he fanning eggs or is he just trying to lure the female?

    What is your ph and temp at? Mines at 7.6 and 78 degrees. There is defiantly a male and a female red Bn in my tank. They have a good cave. I feed them frozen bloodworms the first night. Blanched cucumber the 2nd night. And algae wafers the 3rd night. I feed them every night with this rotation of meals. They eat it all and I take any leftovers out. Any suggestions on y they won't breed is greatly appreciated. Also they've been in the tank for a couple months with no other fish but those 2.

    By accident my albino brisslenose plekos bred in a 250litre! There is like maybe 20+ fry/babies! I removed them from the 250lt and moved them to a smaller tank should I leave them on their own in that tank or should I keep the male and female with them at all times? How long roughly will it take them to grow and just maybe any general tips on looking after them now at the stage after this video? Thanks in advance!

    This might be a stupid question - I have three ansistrus, one I believe is female - but no babies yet. I do however have a lot of fish in my 65 gallon tank. What would be some predators of eggs?

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Anna Davidson Snails, catfish etc. But generally you'll see some fry hatch out and then they get eaten if they are breeding cause the plecos are pretty good about protecting their eggs.

    Can I ask you a question? A month or two ago, I got a baby, (tiny) "albino bristlenose pleco" from PetSmart. I am a goldfish guy and have my main aquarium as goldfish but recently set up a smaller aquarium for Tiger Barbs and got this bristlenose for that tank. It's done very well, growing a little every day -- but I am wondering when they turn orange/red and how could you tell , because, my "albino" looks *really like* these "Super Red" babies , and he or she has an orangish concentration around it's belly and behind it's head ... Could it be that I got a Super Red instead of an albino? Any way to tell? Anyway just thought I could pick your brain a little, thank you very much! (and I'll say, he's much cooler than my adult Rubberlip in my goldfish tank ... I see the Rubberlip *maybe* once a week, and that's if I shine a flashlight in the middle of the night ... otherwise I *NEVER* see him. The bristlenose comes out all the time and seems to do a much better job at eating algae, and is a fraction of the size. Anyway thanks much.

    awesome video..question can u cross bristlenoses..like supper reds to albino long find or any other strain

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Chris Gill Yeah, that is how most of these are made. So long longfin super reds come from crossing super reds and albino longfins.

    hey Cory, I want to start breeding fish and I think I will start with Bristlenose Plecos. Is this a good idea for a starter and any good tips?

      I'd say it's pretty easy to start with, mostly just do your research first.

    Hey Cory, I have a 50ltr-13gln. Would that be large enough to have a single golden pleco? Only have 4 guppies and some fry currently. First tank!!

      +Fraser Hoyland I'm not sure which pleco that is. Do you have an l number?

      +Aquarium Co-Op the one im looking at is a colour variation of ancistrus cf. cirrius. I believe some call them L144. The guy said once they are scientifically described they lose their L number.. not sure about that haha. Thanks for replying Cory! Your channel is great!

    are males territorial,and do I have good chances for them to breed by putting 4 random sexed bnp in a 100 gal cory breeder tub?

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Sharon Roberts your odds are ok. At 6 youd have a 92% chance to have male and female. Id grow them out first and then put a pair somewhere to spawn them. Im not sure of the math at 4 of them off the top of my head.

    Hi Cory, is it possible to breed bristlenoses with 2 males and 2 females in 1 tank? I have 2 females and 1 male at the moment but have another male that I want to add. Any advise?

    • @AquariumCoop

    • @dlattimer9949
      @dlattimer9949 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've read that it stops the eggs from rotting. I guess water circulation helps.

    Is mama supposed to stay with dad the whole time after initial breeding, to eggs hatching and on untill the babies leave the tank? Also at what age are they good to leave the parent(s)?

    • @AquariumCoop
      @AquariumCoop  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Emily Reynolds the dad takes care of them the whole time. They can leave the parent a few days after hatching but can be difficult to catch so moving the parentsbis best if you wanted to do that option.

    • @emilyr.1076
      @emilyr.1076 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Aquarium Co-Op Awesome, so they could be in their own tank with other fish breeds pretty quick then. Thank you for being so quick to respond!
