Muppetvision 3D cast member here, Just wanted to say I’m glad you covered this. It’s a small change, but a huge sign that the muppets are here to stay, and maybe they will be getting more love down the road!

Well, it wasn't much, but as long as they're investing money into it, hopefully that means it's here to stay. You know - in watching this I suddenly realized the issue with the modern Muppets. The Muppets used to always break the fourth wall and interact with the audience. Nowadays, they don't because they spend too much time interacting with each other. But their real comedy - their real essence - lies with them being presentors instead of out and out actors... which is such a huge irony but it's what makes them stand out. Hopefully Disney realizes this someday because maybe it would help maybe get the Muppets back on track. Who knows? Maybe it will inspire them to bring more Muppets into the parks where that medium might actually work the best.
Very true I believe the muppets were at their best when they parodied sketch comedy and written and improved by their own puppeteers. Most of it is now controlled by Disney’s vision for the muppets which is one of the reason Steve whitmire got fired
Muppets are strong on the west coast. Not in the parks that I know of (?), but the Jim Henson headquarters is in the former Charlie Chaplin studios on la brea. A prestige location.
I love this attraction but this almost feels like they had a surplus of projectors and were like let's throw this one effect into the show so they are just not laying around in storage and we can say we used them.
My one and only visit was 2012, and I heard that they recently upgraded to digital projection. Neighborhood theaters across the country had upgraded to digital, so it's a slam dunk to have theme park shows be digital. That being said, many other projected attractions were still using film. Ellen's Energy Adventure had sprocket damage in one film, so it was bobbing up and down. After my visit, I heard they filled up the fountain outside with dirt. Now, you would expect this move in a city with no maintenance budget, but not Disney. I was pleased to hear it was then restored back to normal.

If Magic Kingdom has “evergreen” attractions like Dumbo or It’s a Small World, then Hollywood Studios’ evergreen attraction is absolutely MuppetVision 3D! Its been through all the parks major changes over the last 35 years, continues to make millions of people laugh from all around the world, was one of the last projects Jim Henson ever worked on, and is really a humorous muppet take on the process of making a movie! If I could keep any experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it would be MuppetVision, it is a quintessential Muppet Movie Making Magic!
Don't get me wrong the projections are very good, but even the one doing this video missed the 4d effect. No one sees the projector area get destroyed, the chef fire back, the cannon roll forward, or Donald land then fall into the projector area. 4d is priceless but almost nobody turns around. You should see the whole effect. It's my classic show whenever I go to Disney. Also I miss the gift shop,wanted a Waldorf and Stanley but couldn't find them.
When is the muppets movie land is happening at Disney’s Hollywood studios I want to see the great muppet movie ride just like the great movie ride but more featured on the muppets based on movie characters?
Not sure it’s an improvement. You already see all those projection mapped elements in 3D so adding it to the walls and ceiling is a bit of a hat on a hat

@bemiatto67 I often think what if Splash Mtn had been converted into a Kermit's Swamp ride. Just a nice pleasant ride to the tune of Rainbow Connection, with Muppet animatronics on all sides, and then Gonzo explodes something and the boat drops and we pull up to see Kermit himself strumming on the log with everyone joining in on the song.
I’m so glad they are spending money in the muppets area. They’re a criminally underutilised IP in general.

If that's Matt Vogel doing Kermit he has really come into form with the voice! It was rough for the first few years when he took over the character.
That was Jim Henson as Kermit. It was actually his last time playing him before he passed away shortly after this was filmed.

They updated this a while ago. I don't know when, but this was already changed in 2019 when I went on my Honeymoon.

This is why I prefer Disneyworld over Disneyland. They have more of the old school attractions I grew up with.

The projection mapping isn’t new that has been there for a while
The projections have been there, but the Waldo projection is now updated with new technology. Waldo on the walls never moved individually until now
Trust me, it’s a new projection, the old one was just a static face of Waldo. This is a vast improvement
