There is also a cute song called "It's you and me" about nunu and willump and there is a short trailer from when nunu got reworked which is wholesome. You should watch it too "Nunu & Willump: To Adventure! | Champion Trailer - League of Legends".

Fun fact: Braum's voice actor is the same person who voiced Vander in Arcane.
Willump can't die and Nunu live, it's just that in the animation for their death, Willump is dying first and Nunu tries to reach and help him before dying too :( One of the saddest animations in the game (there's a bunch more that similarly revolve around pets/their owners and stuff x.x)
As a main Pyke, Nunu and Willump are the only ones I hate to kill.
to understand some of Nunus voicelines you have to understand that his role in the game is being a Jungler. That means on the main game map he mostly is walking around the area called "The Jungle" which is populated by these camps of monsters that you clear for money and buffs.
There is the smaller camps:
Raptors, they are a kind of flightless birds
Krugs, they are these Stone Creatures
Scuttle Crab, its a crab (Nunu doesn't reference them)
Murkwolves, they are multiheaded wolves
and Gromp, which is a big toad
Then you have the "blue and red buff" which give you a temporary buff:
Blue Sentinel, also called Blue Buff, is like a stone golem
Brambleback, also called Red Buff, which is also an elemental golem creature but its made from Stone and Brambles
Lastly there is the big monsters:
Rift Herald, its a big void corrupted version of the scuttlecrab
Baron Nashor, its so to say the big boss monster on the map, its like a giant void-touched serpent (you saw him at the end of Twist of Fate)
and lastly Dragons, they can have multiple elements but generally are self explanatory as Dragons.
So not all of them are Freljordian Creatures.
To your question if you can play them: Yes of course! In the actual game they are like one entity with Nunu riding on Willumps back. The death references are for when you are killed in the game. The animation is just Willump dying first so Nunu has some heartbreaking voicelines for that :)
You need to watch nunu and willump "it's me and you" it's a cute wholesome music video for nunu and willump it has there theme song mixed in it aswell

The creatures you were confused about are in game monsters. Gromp is a big frog, krugs are big rocks that split into smaller ones when killed, raptors are big chickens, baron is a boss monster. Nunu and willump play as one champion, nunu just rides on willumps' back
And Brambleback is the name of the formally known red buff, he's like a tree sentinel I think, not sure how to explain it.
Also Im not sure what Nunu was referring to, when he talked about him
also Sentinel is referring to the blue buff which is like a stone golem

It seems like the poems at the beginning of the voicelines are references to other Champions or lore, I'm trying to figure out what every one of them means:
1. cant figure it out it kinda seems it could be about nunu or willump with either willump himself being the frozen key or the magical flute nunu uses, it could also be about Lisandra and her keeping the watchers locked
2.Orn's forge is called the world forge if I remember correctly, it seems like some of these have the information changed a little like they would if they are spoken stories
3.The Seal sister is the Lesser known god of freljiord, I think Nunu is saying he wants to met her
4.This one Is totally about Trundle, the king of trolls, he is an iceborn, and wields a giant bat of true ice. The last verse probably refers to the fact he is very resilient
5.Here be dragons :)
6.This one is also tricky, it could be about Aatrox since he was in the freljord to fight Tryndamere's tribe, and the ruin, rage and magic could fit him not sure about the last part... maybe talking about when he was ascended before he was corrupted or the people he saved in his story (might be remembering things wrong)
7.We get a hint (hint: its about Lissandra)
8. This one could be about Vilemaw the spider god Elise follows
So the voicelines you heard are just purely based on the game. All champions need voicelines about dying since it is a player vs plaver game. In Nunu and Willumps case, Willump gets to die and Nunu tries to save him only ending up laying beside him until they respawn back in base. The Krugs, Raptors, Murkwolves, Brambleback, Gromp, Dragons, are jungle monsters that Nunu and Willump need to fight in the game since theyre mostly assigned to the jungle role for the team, hence the interactions. Rift Herald and Baron Nashor are jungle monsters that came from the void, thats why Nunu gets scared when facing them.
All in all, theyre gameplay is purely based around roaming around the map and helping their teammates get objectives and defeat the other players, just like how an adventure looks like.

I am really looking forward to the Song of Nunu game - it is a platformer, puzzle jump and run game and I love how expressive they animated the characters - this is so cute! I think you would enjoy this game as well - especially since it most likely has some pretty dope Lore incorporated about Lissandra, Anivia, Orn and potentially the watchers. I recommend- even only for yourself - watching the video of Necrit analysing the official game trailer. He points out a lot which will most likely await us ^^
Willump is a creation of Yeti magic. The Yetis used to be an advanced race before Lissandra froze everything. After that, the yetis became feral.
But Willump is a yeti

The only difference is that Willump was transformed by Nunu's dream power
Willump is a real Yeti, as he is described he is the last magical Yeti, so his appearance is different from the Yetis in the legends of runeterra.

Nunu & Willump are one Champion together, regardless I am really interested in them and there by is very looking forward to this upcoming Nunu Game,
Speaking of which, I highly recommend checking out the Riot Forge Games, they are really good at expanding the World and exploring the Lore, while also being some pretty fun experiences, depending on what kind of Games you prefer.
By the way, Necrit has most likely made Videos about Nunu & Willump, as well as these Trailers, so if you want to go through their Lore, you know where to look.
Also, side note: due to my mind pretty much going in all kinds of places, I have now ended up Shipping Nunu x Annie,
