    For all the haters on this turbocharged motor GM has been using this 1.2L 3 cylinder since 2020 with the trailblazer and no major recalls or issues. Change your oil and filter as stated in your Owners manual and don't drive with a heavy foot and your should get 200k miles easily.........

    • @cisky1972
      @cisky1972 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The issue is the power to weight ratio makes the car/suv sluggish. Turbos could be a bit bigger. The quest to increase mpg sometimes takes a toll in the driving experience.

      Exactly well said. My mother’s trailblazer from the same year with the 1.2 has had 0 issues and she has 59k miles. She does change her oil every 3-5k miles with that new gf-6a oil that is made specifically for TGDi engines. And has changed her cvt fluid every 20k mi.

      I think that if you maintain it properly and drive it sanely I see no reason why it wouldn’t last. After all, it’s not 1971 and this not the Vega.

      I rented 4 Impala’s 2000-2003 for trips. I think that the speed limits were 55

      Sorry, I accidentally hit send too soon. What I was attempting to say was that these Impala’s all had a V6 (3.4 litre) and I had no trouble hitting 35-36 on the highway. I doubt that with today’s speed limits you could do that, but I was amazed because the 4 cylinder 2000 Camry that I drove couldn’t do that well.

    • @ashleyhoots
      @ashleyhoots ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@toddgriffiths9115 not really loud. It is a lot quieter than my old 2016 trax was. You do hear just a little road noise if you hit a big rough spot in the road. I had an emergency vehicle come up behind me and I barely heard the sirens until they were about 50 feet from me.

      I’m not currently in the market but I have been a car guy my entire life and always like to have an idea what I would do next, in the event that something happens to my current vehicle. Trax would be my first choice at this time. I haven’t driven one but the 1.2 liter turbo 3 cylinder does not scare me at all. I’m 67 years old and don’t drive long trips anymore so I’m sure it would be fine. The front wheel drive is fine too. I live in Wisconsin and being retired, if we have a bad storm I would probably stay at home anyway.

    Lifetime powertrain warranty? Really wish that dealership was located in my neck of the woods. Great review. Honestly, for those who don't need AWD and never plan on off-roading; I can see the Trax siphoning off large chunks of sales that otherwise would have gone to the Trailblazer. Just being honest.

    • @dave1956
      @dave1956 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      There’s usually some sort of caveat with any type of extended warranty. I always remember what I heard a man telling a service advisor regarding the old Chrysler 7/70 warranty. The best warranty is the one that I don’t need.

    • @braetonwilson4296
      @braetonwilson4296 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Lifetime powertrain warranty is almost always a scam. You have to do all your maintenance at that particular dealership which is expensive and impractical if you move. Skip one maintenance item and your warranty is invalid. They will find a million ways to deny your warranty claims. Real talk.

    Great review! I'm hoping to be in a new Trax by the end of summer.
    Sure, I had a concern about the 3 cylinder, but they've been around for years. People also raised concerns when Ford went with the V6 Ecoboost in the trucks, and they haven't been dropping dead due to being worked as you would in a truck. It's always a matter or maintaining your investment -- maintenance and not abusing it. Turbocharged engines aren't an off-the-shelf engine, they've been engineered for the stresses and strains they'll see; just like any regular engine would be too.

    What I find incredible is that Consumer Reports condemned this Chevy Trax for its, according to them, cheap interior.
    Sigh... What do you expect for a low cost vehicle? A Benz interior? By the way: there's are reports online that turbo engines are a nono in general. Why? Because that type of power plant will bring problems in time for owners. I believe that if you maintain your vehicle in the proper way, and don't run it into the ground carelessly, so to speak, it will serve you well without mishaps! There, I'm off my soapbox. LOL. Lovely review! Peace, friend! 🙏♐

    But that sticker price doesn't include dealer prep, tax, title, and that ceramic coat they put on.
    So you're not going to leave the dealer ship only paying $26,000.

    • @mstngken
      @mstngken 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The engine itself may not be the problem GM uses cheap turbos so that can be an issue but the main problem will be the wet belt timing belt it is a rubber belt that runs through the oil and will degrade over time and get lodged in the oil pickup. Lookup Fords 3cyl it also has a wet belt and basically destroys the engine over time.

    • @mstngken
      @mstngken 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dave1956 The engine is not far from a vega a rubber belt used for the timing instead of the chain drive that is used this was a cheap move that will cost the consumer in the end. The rubber belt runs through the oil and will degrade over time Ford did this on the 1litre 3cyl and its at the consumers cost when it starts degrading and lodging in the oil pickup.

    • @lazlo5971
      @lazlo5971 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The belt is made from composite that will last. The engineers know what they are doing
