  • I get the motor pulled out of the 1995 Audi A6 Avant 2.8 V6 (C4). More stuff came off than expected and I've got the bug to restore it now.

Impressive tear down! I still have my 1995 a6 still driving. Family car bought locally in 97. I love this car!

I have a 97 version of this...I have done a ton of work on it myself, but never gone as far as taking the engine out...haven't needed to. As for putting the weels back on the hub, Check in the black tire maintenance bag ( assuming you have it ) for a black plastic screw in guide. You screw it into your hub, then align one of the holes on the tire with it & Viola...no guess work when putting the tire back on.

Hey brother! Going out to get parts to replace the rear suspension bar on the Wolf warrior so we're basically on the same level of mechanical competencey 😬

@@WildMountainGarage I found the official Audi service manual for the Audi AAH 2.8 v6 12V engine, do you want me to send it on to you? I have the motor out of the car at present. Currently cannot get the tapered cam sprockets off the camshafts.

I'm confused why you would pull the engine without checking the valley pan gasket. 99% of the time that's where oil leaks are coming from.
I'd recommend getting on the Quattro World forums so you don't have to do so much extra work.

Will you be removing the pistons and the crankshaft? I took an AAH (2.8 V6) apart recently, and brought it in to a specialist to get redone and put back together. He says that it should have oil jet sprayers/squirters screwed into the block at the base of the cylinder bores, but I neither saw any squirters or removed any squirters. But there is places in the block that look to be designed to include and screw in such squirters.
Just wondering if you will see or not see these squirters if you have the low end of the engine taken apart? Also He said there should be a pipe screwed in in underneath the valley pan cover. Again, there are three screw in locations for something, but again there was nothing there.

I have a new video in the works of more tear down and reassemble. I got down to the crankshaft and there's definitely slop that would ideally be rebuilt, but just not worth the time, effort and money. I'm just replacing seals and putting it all back together and see how long it lasts from there. I didn't see anything special going on, like jets, just a lower oil pan, a pickup tube and metal screen, and an upper pan.

@@WildMountainGarage if you could check in beyond the crankshaft that would be great, to see if there are any spray jets installed. I very much doubt there are as I didn't see any in mine, yet the guy who is rebuilding the engine for me says it should have oil spray jets. And there are actually cut outs in the block just under the cylinder bores for these jets, you'll prob notice them if you haven't already. I had tried hiking cylinders and putting new rings on, but when the nearby mechanic saw it he said it'd be better take the crankshaft off and do the whole thing. So I took it off. He now thinks I took the oil spray jets off and forgot about them. But I didn't! I'll keep an eye out for your next upload on it. Thanks

It's in the barn, engine is in the shop (for far too long). Plan to get back on the engine soon and get it back in. I've been busy with other projects.
