Raul Canosa, is there to play music, not for the image or to show us technic,, he is there to play music and let us feel it, but above that to listen the music of the great Chopin. Raul you are my number 1 because you are real! Don't change! You are the one! I like Nathaniel, is a mature young boy! Thank You Ben for this interview! I like to hear is Cortot exercices that is teacher gived to him! Great Nathaniel! 17 years old! My God! This boy will have a great life in piano interpretation!
Agree completely - he seemed almost in another league than most contestants. He was the first to dazzle both technically and artistically. The etudes were incredible!
A small remark from a rather quiet viewer: yesterday, the niveau and comments in your live chat were at times atrocious, offensive and full of spam. It's really a shame and makes me sad because it’s actually a great pleasure and quite joyful to exchange thoughts on music respectfully and constructively with lovely people ❤. For those who don’t know it: The chat persists after publishing the live video and it’s a shame for young talents to be bombarded with such nastiness and disrespect. I truly hope none of the contestants will ever read this live chat. Your chat would really benefit from slow mode and some chat moderators, please do something about it.
Live conversation is like old time reviewers (you may be too young to know) who could literally destroy a career or restaurant with a devastating review. It was a part of the landscape. I’m uncomfortable with the “searching for anything to criticize” crowd but realize it’s now a part of our culture. A monitor that blocks nasty comments would be hopeful - or not reading them also works.
I didn't care for the fake deceased composers. These days people are offended by almost anything. I find people who complain about the chat offensive. What have you said about any specific performance that brings anything to the table? If you don't like the chat just turn it off entirely or block individuals. Ben Laude has blocked a few. Otherwise let the comments fly. You get out of it what you put into it.

These young pianists appear to have a horror of using the sustaining pedal, as if it's somehow a sign of lack of taste or skill- who knows? But the consequence is that everything sounds so dry. Currently listening to Zhang playing the etudes- great clarity but no resonance. Why are these pianists so afraid of big sonority?
Yeah, if they only listened to these wise poster critics all would be well. This kind of criticism reminds me of the mom who insisted her child was the only one in step - all the rest were off. lol
People who complain of the pedaling astound me. I'm listening to Raul play "The Storm" as I post this, and there is no shortage of pedal in his playing. András Schiff was asked why he didn't use the pedal when playing Bach. He responded, "I don't like it."

3:23:32 This is the most controversial part of the whole competition, making the live chat go absolutely nuts. 🌰
Why do you say it’s controversial? I suppose he won’t qualify, right? I mean he just played his own variation and not the piece he was supposed to
