I think what makes the Polo gummies commercial "cursed" is the context. Basically, the woman is in a nursery for gummies. As they're bouncing around and playing, she becomes very close to telling them their ultimate fate - to be eaten. However, she cuts herself short and says "they live happily ever after!" in a very nervous tone of voice. _The gummies have souls._
I remember there was a shakeweight parody in South Park. The only major difference was that it had a voice that occasionally told you to switch hands, which made it even more suggestive

As someone who’s half black myself, I’m glad that Chad got that commercial was removed from the video. Also, I don’t believe Chad intended to hurt or offend, and that he was unaware of the context of the commercial until others brought it up.
So Polo mints were developed in 1947 by Rowntree's after manufacturing Life Savers under license in the UK for US troops during WWII. So yes, it's a straight up copy! The gummies were discontinued but the mints are made by Nestle. I like how Chad just glosses over the fact the people managing the English football team killed a player on purpose so that the kid could join the team. 💀And I love that I wasn't the only one that thought it looked like Tim Burton's James and the Giant Peach. And I assure you, Coca-Cola is super rich and take whatever opportunity they can to further market their product, they very much WOULD do a commercial with weird animation like this. You should see the Happiness Factory ones from the late 2000s!

Upon a second watch, I finally understand the Coca-cola commercial. Kid with 3 legs is bullied by other kids. He goes and play soccer with a gopher instead. Business Exec sees kid is really good and sabotages one of the members of his team, so he can get the kid to play instead. Kid (& gopher) does really well and now everybody loves him. Where I got confused was I thought the Exec saw how good 3-legged boy was and then invited everyone but him to play. Then called him in later for some reason.
