He was a tremendously gifted improviser as well, for some time in his life when he was forced to make a living somehow, he worked in a bar and played jazz for the lucky ones, who were there..
no Cziffra is not the poet of piano j think about Alfred Cortot Samson Francois and in Listz France Clidat more lyrical than Cziffra j don't agree with the word poet , Cziffra is viril in Listz j agree
The notes shimmer like star dust. This recital must have been towards the end of his life as he looks much older than I remember him. Beautiful nontheless.
Thanks so much for putting this up, it's really moving. Is he wiping away a tear at the end? When was this concert? Anyway thanks again, I saw this a long time ago and have wanted to see it again ever since.
I really want to know what it takes to learn to play with such heartfelt honesty in front of other people. Does it require psychosis? I really want to know, because if that's what it takes, sign me up.
It requires the opposite of psychosis, truly psychotic people are so terrified of what others think about them that they will rarely show a genuine emotion
Ca devrait être fin des années 80. Il était déjà bien malade et n'avait plus joué avec un orchestre après la mort de son fils. Mais la virtuosité était intacte.
Cziffra don't like this Listz-piece he seems to play because it's a Listz-piece not a mastetpiece . Listz wrote 258 solos-pieces piano and 58 are played to day
@@alainspiteri502 Really? I would suggest you listen to Cziffra playing Ravel, but that would be a waste of time since your bias is so acute. This Liszt work is a revolutionary and influential MASTERPIECE.
😢 большое спасибо! Получила большое удовольствие!
He was exhausted phisycally and emotionally, but he still played so magically....... Very touching.....
ykrahs666 after his sons death he was devastated and only gave a few more recitals until completely disappearing from the concert stage.

Very true! Cziffra was a poet of the piano as well as an astonishing virtuoso.

So beautiful. I was watching the snow softly falling through the window while I listened to this.
A fabulous interpretation by the Master of one of the greatest programmatic works ever conceived.
Those people who walked out in the video at 4:08 missed some of the greatest music and greatest playing ever

Very poetic and touching !

Probably in the early 80's around the time his son died.
It looks as if he is shedding a tear after he finished playing!
Throughout, his face and mouth trying to stifle the cry

Bella interpretación, una de las mejores, sin dudar. Pero la de Arrau es más sensible y me gusta más por eso.
Недавно открыла для себя этого восхитительного , потрясающего пианиста и доброго человека

Why do you think so? He seemed quite invested in this.
@@esejsnake1503 Ravel is not the cup of tea of Mr Cziffra : the first is a poet , the second is a gladiator IoI
I see you complaining all time about Cziffra's playing. If you don't like him, there are other pianists to listen 🙄
It is LISZT moron.
