If you want me to do a mini-series on this game to check out the other characters, hard mode etc, *double check that you liked the video* / comment to help spread it around!
Mini series would be cool. FYI though, don't drag and drop abilities too quickly. There is a bug that causes the first one to be overwritten by the 2nd and you lose the ability. Seems to mostly happen on if done after an attack finishes. I think the trigger is putting an ability in the first slot just as the option is available. It doesn't seem to want to count it and poof, no more ability. Not sure if it fixes when you get to shop because it happened to me last act but it persists through the upgrade section. Same thing with upgrades, if you hit re-roll just after picking a perk you get the re-roll and the perk. Fun if you wanna break it but I figured I'd warn you before you do these accidentally.
After watching, I played and unlocked every card in the armory. Now I am adamant - MINI-SERIES PLEASE, NOTICE US SENPAI!!🙏 Some of the unlocks are even more fricken crafty and fun, yet I haven't been able to beat it yet. Watching Reto play is so enjoyable! Knowing he can one-shot the final boss of regular mode I know he'll make a fun time with the upgrades. I watch the channel to find new games but I'm ALSO here because watching Reto play is always a good time.
Regarding 9:20, I don't think the game ever explains it but I think if you get multiple kills in a single turn, every tile that landed a killing blow (excluding the first kill) will not go on cooldown. So it's actually beneficial going for multikill combos beyond style points since you can use it to bypass the cooldowns of more expensive tiles. This actually makes spear pretty wild if you pump its damage to the point of instakilling enemies, since as long as you maneuver yourself so it kill two enemies each use it will never go on cooldown. (Other things like Shadow, Swirl, Electric and Double Attack moves can do that too, but I find that it's easiest with Spear since it doesn't require too many upgrades to get into instakill territory and it's easier to hit multiple foes with it).
Hey Retromation, I recently started playing a little Indie Gem that I figured might be right up your alley. It's called "Crystal Project" (and before I start: I am in no way part of the devolpment team, or anything like that, I just like the game) and here's why I'd love to see you do a video about it: First up, it's a nice mash-up of genres, of which all seem fitting for you: At its core, it is a turn-based JRPG with a decently well developed Job-system. In terms of world-building and exploring, it's got BOTW and Elden Ring Vibes, full with stumbling into areas that are way too hard for you or sometimes meeting a boss that one-shots you, but also with finding rare and hidden treasures, overseeable sidequests, etc. Plays a bit jump'n'runny. I can't say much about it yet myself, but from what I saw in trailers, it also has different mounts like dolphins dinosaurs and owls and stuff. Graphics-wise it feels a bit like Final Fantasy and Minecraft had a baby, and that's this game. It feels well polished, but only has like a minor amount of reviews on Steam, and I feel it needs more traction - maybe you could be the one that does that for it? And again, I feel, it could be something you'd also enjoy a fair bit!
So there I was, browsing the daily videos as I do, and I see it... SHOTGUN SHOWDOWN! Yeah I know, I can't read. And I was slightly disappointed. But hey I figured I might as well get into it... now I leave FAR FROM disappointment. Loved it, wanna see more, can't freakin' wait man!
This game has so much for a freebie. I downloaded it after watching 2 mins of this video. Great art, music, and a creative gameplay loop. I'd happily pay for this, especially if another character or a challenge mode is added.
Hey Retro, I just wanted to leave a comment to tell you I really, really appreciate that you do long videos. Too many TH-camrs I watch break videos down to 10-15 minutes, some of them even abandon what they're doing when their "time limit" runs out and just ruin their current session *cough cough Gorg*, but I love you channel for many reasons, and the long form videos is a huge one. Keep up the amazing content, man!
This is absurdly good for a free game. Also, thank you for finding and sharing games like these (eg. backpack hero), truly is a wondrous service (I suspect both for us users, and for the content creators themselves).
Awesome find. Love the video and I Immediately had to try it out too. :) Can't wait to see how it develops. Funny sidenote, I kept picking up potions but didn't realize it showed them on the left to activate, glad I kept watching you and found that out!!
You know, I've subscribed to quite a few TH-cam channels over the years. And with most, after a certain time, their upload rate stalls, their content gets stale, etc. As a result, they lose my interest. Not with this channel! I am amazed and surpised at the amount of fresh content with beautiful games that need more attention and love from the community. Thanks Reto! You are an absolute legend!
I definitely wouldn't mind seeing more of this with the other characters and such. Cuz this definitely looks like a great game, especially for an alpha.
This free game has more content than some paid games. Crazy good. Would love to see a mini series with 2 runs on each character to showcase thier playstyles. Thanks for the great find!
Whoa, props to you knowing about BattleCON. I have everything ever released for the physical copy. I'd love to see a game Shogun Showdown as a puzzle game rather than a roguelike. I understand this genre's your thing, but I personally dislike games like this and think it's a waste of talent that so many games get released in this format. Instead of playing them myself, I watch folks like you because you have more time to invest in learning the mechanics and being good. It also makes a lot more sense for you to play roguelikes considering how easily you beat them. I've only beaten Children of Morta in this genre and only because it doesn't challenge the player (infinite leveling until you beat it).
Mini series would be awesome would help me decide if I want to buy it or not..... wait a minute, Its FREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE. I love your genuine surprise its in alpha
love when you play these lil bangers, I'd never know they exist otherwise! also, appreciate the dopamine hit this morning when I saw you hearted my comments over several videos lol ; always throw your videos on first thing in the morning while i start my work day, nothing like a Retromation vid to get the brain going
The creator of this game needs to post a way for us to support them financially. Like for real. I will send this man $5 for this free version. It’s easily worth that much. EASILY.
I like 90% of the games I've played on my channel, I just _really really love_ this one. If I can't see something good in a game I probably won't upload a video on it.
I would like to yet again reiterate, THIS IS FREE ! Also I would recommend checking out Pocket Crystal League also free at itch.io. It's Pokemon meets Inscryption.
Dev here! This was a lot of fun to watch! Thanks for trying out the game.
You've got a fantastic game here, can't wait to see where you take it (though it is already honestly stellar)
I'm seriously hyped by what I have seen i'm on my way to get it and can't wait for what it will become
Love your game keep it up

I would love a mini series
A mini series would be great!
YES
Definitely! Reminds me of a stripped down fights in tight spaces, unbelievable how polished this game is also.

I support a mini-series, at the very least one for each character, showcasing some of the unlocks along the way.
I agree with this!

Great game, fell in love with it instantly! Amazing that it’s just in alpha I’m sure the full release will be stelar

Hey retro, go play Shogun Showdown. Have a good evening.
This would make a great moba too
the dash didnt get the extra damage from dynamo because you used it after the sword not a movement ability😔but srsly HOW IS THIS FREE
Wow thats a nice game and its free?! And Not like diablo immortal a Cash cow . Makes me wanna buy it XD
this would be an amazing mobile game
Diggin it
I'm kinda getting Into The Breach vibe with this.
Likely just because it is a turn-based roguelike where the complexity doesn't come from how complicated the moves are, but how you choose to use them.
@@Retromation Exactly! That's what it is. You really need to think about your move before you execute it. Thanks for sharing this game Retro 😁👍
Bonkers game
57:21 So are the other of 10% the paid games are the one on your channel or am I gonna have to try to guess which games you actually like?
I like 90% of the games I've played on my channel, I just _really really love_ this one. If I can't see something good in a game I probably won't upload a video on it.
