I hate this. Why? Because not only does he make it look so easy, he's smiling throughout like he's not even thinking about it. Top talent and top man. Thanks for posting.
Akira is a great example that it's never too late to start playing drums...he started playing when he was 17 and you should see the band he played with for the past 30 years....Casiopea is a band full of monsters!!!
HE IS AMAZING! Go Akira! It's unbelievable how stupid people would leave comments like "he made mistakes!" but you go to their channels and they have NO VIDEOS at all, c'mon ppl, he didn't make mistakes: THE ELECTRONICS didn't respond! Anybody with an electronic kit knows this happens from time to time. And if you think you can critizice a MONSTER like Mr Jimbo then please at least have one video in your channel to enlighten us with your amazing skills...., idiot
I've known about Akira since the early days of his tenure with CASIOPEA the Japanese Jazz-Funk band. He's been amazing all the time. I have a double laserdisc of one of their late 80's tour and during his drum solo he's just phenomenal. Let's not forget is buddy Tetsuo SAKURAI on bass, who's the perfect match for an amazing rythm section...
I've watched this video a lot since it first came out, and now that im a much more experienced drummer, it sounds even more impressive. I just absolutely loathe the sound of his snare
Pretty sick, love the groove during the Bond part. I love how he keeps the 8ths on the hats going with his foot when he uses his hand for the triggers.
Since the sequence of notes on one of the pads are pre programmed, sometimes if he misses a note or plays a note too much the melody is 'out of sync'. Then while soloing with his other three limbs he makes up for it by creating a new melody so that the sequence of notes are back in sync. Amazing. Drummers are the ultimate multitaskers.
and its these type of drummers that make them amazing, much like carter beauford..always with a cheeky smile on his face..means they are having fun..and you do so much better when you are enjoying yourself
That was orgasmic... you can see on his face that he plays for fun and not for being the best and ultimate drummer! Akira owns!!! And thinking he began playing the drums at the age of 18... amazing!
I would actually agree with drsteve0487 on that Akira did make mistakes. He's only human and I don't think we're faulting for noticing his mistakes, but what's more remarkable is his ability to keep on track with everything and recover so well. I think it's better that he made a mistake than did a "perfect" performance, because it only serves to show what a master he is - almost perfect recovery from mistakes rather than letting it get him down. That's true musicianship
Notice how, exactly on the very last crash hit of Bond, he simultaneously hits the program change pad. So he's ready for the next song. This guy is a genius!
best thing i like abt him is that no matter when or what he plays, he has that look that he really enjoys drumming. Some people drum and their face has that constipated look, but he seems like he's having fun
O_o this guy is a beast. Makes it look so easy. for me hes the best drummer iv herd and seen with an exception of jojo mayer and B.Rich. P.S he is an independence master
i agree with how people wrongly compare musicians from vastly different genres, but i cant say jimbo is an electric/acoustic drummer...i cant put his style to a word perse, but even w/o his electric set up, he still amazes me. just watch any casiopea performance...especially 'trance evolution'
excuse my language but that was fookin smooth! love this guy and he always makes me want electric pads for my kit! and i hate electric kits lol! hes too kool i really wanna go to one of his clinics! AWESOME!

DUDE that was sweet and the fact that he looks so happy while doing that is pretty awesome

another great mostly unknown drummer...yes all pop groups get famous..but guys like this are beyond...
Incredible!!!
i love him because he shows that drums are not just something like "background" instruments, you can also do a one man show with them
and its these type of drummers that make them amazing, much like carter beauford..always with a cheeky smile on his face..means they are having fun..and you do so much better when you are enjoying yourself

Amazing. I hope to get to his level one day. Amazing.
途中ミスって普通だったら慌てんのに笑いながら修正って…すごすぎ…
Pretty smooth. The guy definitely looks in control and relaxed. He also has a pretty decent economy of motion most of the time.

Love this. I'd much rather hear groove oriented playing like this than the hit-as-many-notes-as-i-can type solos.

At 3:30 he makes one mistake with the step sequenced melody trigger but fixes it back in no time.. AMAZING!!!!

Pretty sick
How can you hate that cheeky little "Fuck off, Im better than you" grin he's got all the way through? :D
i love his hybrid cymbals.....gotta get me some
Amazing!!
clearly anyone bashing Akira is not a drummer. Any drummer would see the challenge of providing the beat AND triggering the loops. This is amazing.
indeed awesome!, what you say: no stops
Cool cool. Super highly futuristic tech drums...Japanese..... Wish I had that
he enjoys the beat, so great
I just bought this snare, it's so awesome.
Absolutely Amazing !!! WOW !! : )
@superjam18 yeah he did, saw him live 2 days ago and it was awesome :)
his age is 56 years old can you believe it?
+THEWORLD116 if the video was 20years ago, i believe it
Haaaaa...loved it..... all with the sticks!
I am surprised that some do not recognize that Akira Jimbo was also playing the synthesized notes using the electronic drum keypads.
