That die seems to be over constrained and too tight in that holder... Its a split die, so you can easily crank it tighter if you desire or do it by accident... Not sure if you reground it enough times to warrant the tightness, so i wont say its a mistake, but if its a fresh tool, it looks like a mistake, at least from the angle shown around 1.40...
you can't use a caliper in a rotating work piece.Damaging the tool and never get the exact or the desired measurement. The caliper is tilted in order to stay away from the chunk or being afraid of damage, even the brain is not reading the correct numbers. And let the work piece came off by turning off the machine.let it drop carefully or in cautiously.very good the idea of mechanical pen that we used it everyday.very smart.
Think I'll just be letting the part fall off from now on - pretty dicey when that tool caught up in the work! Not too fussed about the calipers though - they're cheap and dimensions not too critical.
Hi there, I believe they are all 6x40mm compression springs. I put three together in the top and one on the firing pin. The one on the firing pin was cut down a bit and bent to the side, enough so it catches the hammer on the way up.
Nice job. We shared this video on our homemade tools forum this week 😎
Thanks for sharing!!

Indeed, I did have it a bit tight, resulting in a loose thread. For future ones I'll make sure to open it in the die holder.
Great build mate
Thanks 👍
Can you make me large size of centre puch?
this is art .
Great video really enjoyed it. Best centre punch vid ive watched all year. Keep it up
Appreciate the support! With any luck my incredibly obscure Lens Spanner video could be the best of its like that you've seen!

Can the centre punch be replaced?
If the end becomes blunt it can always be reground or another one can be made.
