It's actually refreshing to see some black country artists. I'm not a huge country fan, but I like some of it. Usually notice that it's Caucasian. He must of grew up down south

I came here to enjoy this song and to watch the video, and I have to say this comment section is so ugly and nasty that it just breaks my heart that when someone try’s to just live life and do good here come the devil. I just want to say I hope the God you guys serve is happy with the hate you guys have in your heart. We are really comparing him to other artist, he is not other artist. He is himself. Is this song traditional country? No, but neither is the other country songs that were released within the last decade. The style of country changed just like other genres of music. This dude is singing country. It does not matter his color, race, or religion he is putting out music that speaks to his heart. If you do not like it that is your choice, but to get on here and bash the guy, like come on. If he can not do country, then white people can not do rap, R&B, soul, blues, and all the other types that are predominantly done by Africa Americans. Judge the content of their character not their skin color. Your life would be happier if you just let it go and loved vs. going out your way to hate. You came to this page to either watch the video because you liked the song, until you found out his skin was brown, so you go on people’s comments who are praising him just to spread hate. Or you are simply a troll and you have nothing better to do but sort through songs of people you do not like and search positive comments and go on their comment section and yet again spread hate.

Black people developed rock n roll with the godfather of rock(chuck berry), they are basically solely responsible for the blues, and their songs in the fields basically made gospel and hymnals a thing. But they did not start country music. It's ok. I'm not saying they cant contribute to it, just like SRV contributed to blues, or Em contributed to rap. But country stems from bluegrass, and even has more ties to Mexicans because of mariachi, and mexican farmers singing. It mostly developed from European folk music being carried over to the western world. Hence a similarity in instruments. The blues and rap are DOMINATED by brown skinned people. It's great, because they developed it. It mostly sounds best when that culture has its hand in it. Country is dominated by light skinned people. The lyrics, the way words are pronounced, the instruments, the history. Country can connect with anyone, but it was started and developed almost exclusively by white westerners.

You probably think that Country music is a "White" music because of the way it was marketed. While it had a strong popular following among rural people, as the White middle-class began to grow and have more disposable income, the Country music marketers focused solely on that audience as a steady source of revenue. The other audiences were not served as well and thus the music became less important to them over the many years.
