When his sponsorship contract ends on apparel and clubs, I think he needs to just stay freelance. Use whatever equipment he wants and reduce the level of press required by sponsorship. Get back to grinding as much as possible.
McIlroy's a fantastic player... only his short game let's him down a little. In his day, these are the chips and puts that made Tiger the best golfer the World has ever seen.

Tee to green he is still the best in the world, even on a bad day so what is the range going to do??? You talk about him being infront of the microphone but have you considered his sponsorship requirements, duties as player council chairman or just the demands of being the world's 2nd most famous golfer... This guy lives in a different world that we will never understand.
It's not time at the range, he has the skillset to best anyone. We've seen that, at the pro level 99% of the game is mental. Rory is lacking confidence at the majors, he hasn't one in over 9 years...
