    The hardest part of learning art after 3 years is trying not to give up hope on being a good artist when I see how little I have improved. The only thing that slightly helps is that the artists I look up to have made amazing artworks 12 years ago, which means they have likely been painting for 6+ years before that and the stuff they're coming out with now is likely a product of nearly 20 years of art practice. The issue then becomes if I have the resolve to spend 6 years or longer before I stumble into something that qualifies as "good"? I hope so.

      I also was learning for around 3-4 years and only recently have started making actually good stuff, the thing is that it is a very long journey, but you don't really feel the sense of time. You keep working, take a break, switch to something else, get inspired, start again and so on in circles until you realize that you've been drawing for years, and now you have an actual taste and intuition. You'll get there, just keep coming back to it and don't overload yourself at the moment.

    I just started way too late in life, but have slowly been able to convince myself to enjoy getting better. It also, oddly enough, helps to have a job currently that I desperately want to get out of so there's motivation there. But honestly, if I can kiss a little rear-end, having been able to find an artist such as yourself that is approachable and willing to help has been an amazing discover for this tool that waited too long.

    Great advise. I have been wasting more than 20 years of my life. Past 2 years i've been learning blender for fun and got back into drawing. I noticed my drawings improved a lot because of blender. I seriously never knew i could get better at something. I just gave up real quick at anything and always told myself i could never reach the level of artists i admired. So what's the point, nobody is going to pay me for my garbage. I still doubt everything, but i did notice progression. These kind of videos really help. I tried many other motivational videos, but all they really tell you is just to become a millionaire or get up at 5 to start running or hit the gym lol

    Thank you very much for this video! I got a question about college part of the video, because I'm currently enroll in Graphic Design Bachelor on first year as a part time study. During the week I casually work at a warehouse, devoting my free time to development art skills, and then on Saturday and Sunday I study at the university. It is hard but I try to give my best. I'm sometimes tormented by the thought of whether it wouldn't actually be better to put all the money I spend on my studies into courses and learn from such sources. However, in Poland there is a belief that to achieve something more you need a university education. It is even said in my circle of friends that one cannot become an Art Director without a university education. Is this actually true? Do people really look at your education that much?
    Thanks in advance for your answer!

    As always good advice.
    What struck me was…
    the subjects were posed in Daz 3D, rendered and then imported to photoshop for the vfx.
    Initially, I thought you drew it from scratch like you’ve done before.
    BUT… watching you paint on the subject, to give it hair, features.. etc.
    Gave me the idea, how I can do this on my iPad Pro.
    I can pose 3D models with the *Shot Pro* app, that has very limited 3D models, with preset facial expressions and preset clothing (not as elaborate like DAZ 3D)
    *But* I can change the clothing and expressions once brought into Affinity Photo for my iPad.
    Thank you for this!
    I really do not enjoy searching for hours, for images, for photo manipulation ideas.
    I wonder if there are *facial expression* brushes. I’ll have to check.

      iPad apps For 3D Model Posing & Photo Manipulation:
      *Shot Pro*
      you can animate here as well, it’s a pre-vision app. powerful. I use it daily for game mechanic prototyping and game design documents.
      *Magic Poser*
      just posing models
      *Affinity Photo V2*
      photo editing/manipulation) it’s good alternative to photoshop - powerful. Your brushes will work on it.

    Hi bro, I am a very huge fan of your work and really inspired by that. I have been sketching and painting for a long time since my childhood but somehow, I still find myself struggling to create my own concept even though it's very clear in my mind but sometimes I lack perspective and I really find my mind getting choked when my drawing reaches a certain level, it just gets blank when it comes to detailing and all that stuff and at this point, I am lacking ideas too.. Could you please advise me something that can actually help me to figure out the issue, I would really appreciate that. Cheers!

    • @NameIsDoc
      @NameIsDoc ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello I am not imad but I am a professor of art. Specifically concept art and previsualization. And trust me when I say I know industry leaders that sometimes feel this. It's a sort of stage fright sometimes by a lack of confidence or by a lack of that initial insperational drive that kicks in at thr start of a work and the more tedious aspects of art show through.
      Unfortunately the best advice I have is to hunker down and keep going. Art isn't just about passion it's also about determination and flexibility.
      You need to press on and keep going. It sucks yes but the tedious weird parts of the art are important for many artstyles.
      Judging by your comment you are not worried about thumbnailing, composition, layout, blocking in, etc etc and are looking for help with handling rendering and keeping up motivation.
      First off determine your focal points/points of interest. You want the most bang for your buck. The focal points need the most detail. The face is often the most important thing in portraiture. Depending on the artist you are you can ether dump time into those areas first or last. Outside of those areas you don't need much in the way of details. Just suggestions of such. Look at old oil paintings and often you will find that details away from the focal points are half done or almost impressionistic.
      When you want to add details look up references. Whether it is items you have or photos online. This is the age of the internet use every resource to your advantage.
      All else fails...photobash or use projectors. There is little reason to get upset about cheating in art. Johannes Vermeer is a well respected artist from the Baroque Period that is suspected of using comparator mirrors, the camera lucida and camera obscura to produce his work. As long as you change it enough.

    • @backbencher5675
      @backbencher5675 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NameIsDoc thanks for the advice.. i agree with the points you mentioned and i have no issue with the cheating part as i dont judge others by that as long as the end results are fascinating but for me being a passionate artist, i find bulk of my pleasure in procedure so the more complicated it gets, more it fascinates me may be that the reason i lack finishing touch in my paintings? But as you said it's fine to use resources then i might do that at least to reach a point where i find myself good enough to do it by myself

      @ImadAwan  ปีที่แล้ว +1
