Jaguar Enthusiasts Club Celebrate the 100th Anniversary of Jaguar Cars by going back to Blackpool where William Lyons and William Walmsley started their business
There's a little bit of history, not noted anywhere now, that after manufacturing Swallow Sidecars behind William Walmsley's home in King Edward Avenue, he and Lyons relocated to 5 Bloomfield Rd and thence to Cocker Street, before decamping to Coventry. However, I remember being told as a little boy that before Bloomfield Rd they rented space under the arches of Harrowside Bridge, South Shore. That much has been forgotten. Their first showroom was at Woodhead's Garage on the corner of Squires Gate Lane and Lytham Road, still there but nowadays it is a carwash at the front and garage to the rear in the original building, and a furniture store in the extension.

The SS couldn't last as a brand name in England
