If you need to just send transactions, Metamask already has a web3 connection, and yoy don't need Alchemy or any Ethereum API. However, if you have a backend that sends transactions or, in a frontend you want to show some Blockchain data to users in a log-out mode (not connected to Metamask, which is the case of all first time users, including those who don't want / don't know how to install Metamask), then an Ethereum API like Alchemy is useful. On top of it, Alchemy has many tools and specialized endpoints that can help you.

Thanks for this super usefull guide, but I'm facing with a strange behaviour of metamask wallet: I wrote a Smart Contract when in my payable function I got a require statement about the value sent from the actual connected address (on metamask) to my Smart Contract, ofc if this value is lower than the expected one the require statement fails and the transaction should be stopped or reverted. The strange behaviour is about the pop-up of metamask that shows a red label saying: "Transaction Error. Smart Contract Exception Generated in the code". This souds correct, but what i dont understand why the button "Confirm Transaction" is still active and pressing it generates a pending transaction that consumes gas. Maybe the Confirm button is active even if exception was generated because my contract is deployed on Rinkeby and on mainnet would be disabled? Thanks for help

Tried with Next.js , used chatGPT 4 to debug the things coming here it does provide me explanation, but no proper fix, response error 400, cannot take the API keys from Pinata although I already did that successfully.....I tried going to the older version of React 17...and install starter files, error that the webpack version is too old, old libraries, old dependancies. Is no longer available for this year.

Fixed my issue, I had the .env file in the src directory instead of the "minter-starter-files" root.
@@ChrisHoadley hi chris then right after you move the .env file have you got the error with "babel-jest" something?
i move my .env file's location to minter-starter-files/ and i add "SKIP_PREFLIGHT_CHECK=true" at the bottom of the .env file and it works! :)
