- Petrol pole pruners are essential tools for removing deadwood and branches far above head height. The new STIHL HT 105 and 135 telescopic pruners mark the next generation of petrol pole pruners in the STIHL range, combining unrivalled performance with excellent durability.
The key difference between the two petrol models is the power output. Both pole pruners feature powerful STIHL 4-MIX engines, with the STIHL HT 105 output being 1.05kW, and the HT 135 being 1.4kW for the most demanding jobs. Our STIHL 4-MIX engines are fuel efficient and give excellent torque for cutting larger diameter branches.
Both the STIHL HT 105 and 135 feature a robust lightweight magnesium gearbox, which is also found on the HT-KM KombiTool. Both STIHL pole pruners come with an integrated branch hook to help free stuck branches and the sprocket cover includes a captive nut, and an ejection hole that helps to prevent the sprocket from becoming clogged with wood shavings. It also features a marker line for accurate operation, even at full extension.
The 1.1mm, 1/4P chain gives a smooth cut and fine finish. There’s also the option of changing to 3/8P if required, just like the previous model, the STIHL HT 131. The tool free oil cap sits on top, meaning the chain oil can be topped up while the power head sits securely out of the mud on its wide, sturdy base plate.
The total length of each pole pruner can extend from 270cm up to 390cm, providing enough reach to safely cut branches high up in the canopy, or trim around lamp posts from ground level. Adjusting the telescopic shaft is easy using the grippy twist lock adjuster, and the square shaft gives great rigidity and control when lining up cuts.
Both petrol pole pruners come with a clip-on carrying ring, perfect for use with the STIHL RTS Harness. When set up correctly, the harness distributes the weight of the machine across your waist and shoulders, and allows for effortless working over longer periods. As well as pole pruners, the RTS harness also works with some of our long reach hedge trimmers and STIHL KombiEngines too!
Always consult the manual before operation to check requirements for Personal Protective Equipment and safe working practices. For example, the optimum angle for cutting is 60 degrees to prevent debris from falling on the user.

Trying to get a hold of a ht135 in the USA for a review
Hi Daniel, thanks for your comment, but I'm afraid this is the channel for STIHL Great Britain and we don't ship any products to the USA, so you'll need to speak to STIHL there. You can contact them using this form here: support.stihl.com/en-US/write-email/ Thanks, STIHL GB
@@STIHLGB thanks for the help, much appreciated
Was wondering if I heard correctly. So if I wanted to convert the bar and chain from 1/4" to 3/8" pitch on the HT105, I can do that?
Hi James, yes that is correct. You can run the HT 105 pole pruner with either 1/4 P or 3/8 P cutting attachment. You will need a 3/8 P sprocket in order to do this.
Thanks, STIHL GB.
Are the machines made in Germany? Looks fantastic are these replacing the ht 131?
Hi, thanks for the comment. These tools are made in the US, and yes, these are replacing the HT 131 / HT 133. Thanks, STIHL GB
This is so cool😊😊😊😊😊
Hi, Will the orange cover on the head fit on an HT133, given the head on the HT133 is a disaster for clogging up. I see this now has an exit hole designed to eject material rather than fill the head. I certianly would not buy a new saw for this alone but missed a trick if I can't buy a new cover and use on the old machine if you kept the head dimensions this same? In fact you probably could have done an updated cover for the HT133 to help current owners.
Hi Ian, thanks for your comment and feedback. I'm afraid the new cover is not compatible with the HT 133 due to the position of the sprocket and guide bar being to the left of the drive shaft, not the right. Thank you for the suggestion of a retrofittable sprocket cover for the HT 133 though. I have passed this on to the product team. Thanks, STIHL GB
Hi! Great review. I need pole saw for a specific use. I need to cute close to water. Is it safe to saw a bruch that is submerged under water or floating on water?
Hi, we don't recommend submerging our tools in water as the gearhead is not sealed to withstand being submerged or exposed to water. It’s also difficult to control the HT 135 when used at ground level due to the length of the product. If you would like to discuss your particular use further, please contact enquiries@stihl.co.uk with more information and they will be able to provide advice. Thanks, STIHL GB

Do not buy either you cannot get parts. Should have bought an Echo. Had a branch fall on one and bend the tube slightly. 400+ dollars in parts they are saying they can't get anything but the whole tube as of right now.
Hi Robert, thanks for your comment, and sorry to hear about the issue you have been having. This is the channel for STIHL Great Britain though and it looks like you might be based outside Great Britain? If so, then it might be worth getting in touch with the STIHL Customer Services team in your country (if you haven't already) to see if they can help you speed up the process?
