    I don't think it makes sense rn to trade that pick because if we vet Calgary's 11th or 12th for exemple it has tremendous value

  • @jlavigne08
    @jlavigne08 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

    I think you hold on to that Calgary pick through the season and at the deadline if they’re a bottom 8 team you can still move it in the right deal. If Dustin Wolf takes off and Calgary are better than expected……..11-15ish. You could be looking at two more top 6 forward prospects in the system which would be amazing.

    I keep the 2 first round picks, especially in the position the Canadiens are.. Suzuki will be 26/27 years old soon, and we are rebuilding... So we need double layer for the future, meaning, I would be targeting a potential young star center to replace Suzuki on the long run.. Montreal could be picking in the top 5 again, and if so, it's because of injury prone players, another reason to keep those prescious first round picks...

    Great show love the show , but MD saying the pick is top ten protected is completely wrong , in short it is number one overall protected, there is a scenario where if it is 2-10 the Habs could get the Calgary pick, in this scenario Florida has to be bad an have their own pick in the top ten, so we won’t fully know until A) end of regular season, if Florida makes playoffs Habs get that pick. B ) if Florida doesn’t make the playoffs then we have to wait for the 2025 lottery to determine where Florida picks. One other scenario were it is not, if Florida picks in top ten and Calgary gets number one overall , habs get the best of the Florida or Calgary pick in 2026 , no conditions as well a third in 2025 to go with the million picks they have already from rounds 2-7

      @nunyabidness159 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Agree and disagree. Dach needs a good season but, more importantly, a healthy one. As for the picks, I think the Habs can trade it and go big game hunting in the offseason next year. We'll have a solid prospect pool to trade some future picks to bring in a top-end talent if we can't get one in FA.

  • @CraigMcKee

    There is a decent chance that the pick could be in the 11-15 range also. Yes, it could also be higher, which would push us to the Florida pick, likely late in the round. If it is late round, then trading it might be the right call, but how do you value the pick without knowing where in the 11-32 range it will fall? I would hate to see them trade it for a lower value and then find out that we could have had a no. 11 pick.

      @@shawnbanks8673 I'm glad to get some backup on this. I saw a video more than a year ago where they interviewed him and he introduced himself as MAY-oux. Maybe now, Josh and Jesse will make the change. Funny thing is I've watch two other videos where players said their own names that everyone then said wrong. We used to say Alex RO-manov, and Alex himself said it that way. But then everyone changed (incorrectly) to Ro-MAN-ov. Same thing with Dadonov. He says his own name DAD-onov, and everyone, after years in the league, suddenly started calling him Da-DON-ov. Quite perplexing.
      Let's see if Josh makes the change about Mailloux.

    Since it's difficult to know where the pick from Calgary or Florida will be, Hughes can trade the less favorable one from Calgary or Florida and the Habs' first pick in 2025.
    PS: there is a very slim possibility that Montreal receives a first round pick in 2026 instead of 2025, this could also be taken into account in a trade.

    @oldhab7890 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Trading first round pick is dangerous for GMs and Hughes will do it only if he can "win" the trade. I don't believe other GMs are idiots so it is likely the first round pick is part of a larger deal involving members of our defensive corp.
    For instance, and I would never want this player on my team, Savard, Barron and a first round pick for Marner. The trade relieves Toronto of a player media hates and instantly improves their defence and they get a potential star in a first round pick. Montreal gets a 90 point guy. This trade would never happen because of Marner's contract and limited compete level in the playoffs but a trade like this is how a first round pick is likely to be used.
