I'm a 75 yr old woman - and this is my holy grail - I love it!! I apply it over Purlisse Matcha primer, with my fingers, and press it into the skin with a dry beauty sponge. I set it with Charlotte Tilbury pressed powder, and for me, and my normal to dry skin, this lasts for hours and looks so natural.
Having dry to normal skin at 66 years old I have tried all the double wear launchings without success until this double wear sheer...I LOVE IT! No polka dot pores, no patching just a beautiful light to medium coverage and I just apply it with my fingers. Very similar to the Lancome stick foundation in looks but not quite as matte. As far as longevity... it meets my needs for a normal day of coverage. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it.
I’m 46 with normal - dry skin (it will be dryer in the winter) and typically use my fingers when I apply foundation. I’m hoping this one will work for me. I’m going to put on a good application of moisturizer and sunscreen first. I don’t typically use primer but do use CT setting spray.

I am 65 and did not care for the DW Light but really like this new version. My skin is fairly normal, enlarged pores on nose, and this wore well for me in the Texas heat.
I miss the original Doublewear light, which they discontinued and reformulated a few years ago. Can't understand why they discontinued such a great product.
I couldn't believe they discontinued the light. The bottle lasted such a long time too & was so beautiful on the skin. I just tried the futurist... hate it! It's heavy to me as the original DW & oxidizes terribly. I was so hopeful! I've been a DW fan for years but the original is too heavy for me now at 55. The light was so perfect! It took me years to find that HG & starting over sucks! Has anyone tried the Dior forever matte?

I still don't have access to this foundation in Canada, and despite being more excited for this launch than I have been for any foundation in the last decade... After seeing this review, I might skip it! Estee Lauder Double Wear Light was my favourite foundation of all time. I will never not love it. I will never not miss it. Nothing has ever compared, and I'm not sure anything will. I had hoped this new release would be what I was looking for in the ELDWL that I love so much, but sadly, it does not look like it's much of anything at all. I'm also in Canada. You should write to Estee Lauder and give them your feedback. I wear double Wear and with a wet beauty blender it's perfect. Maybe try double Wear using a different technique. I really wish though that they would have expanded the double Wear light color range. I think that is all that was missing .
I purchased this foundation because I have yet to find a light coverage foundation or skin tint that I like. I am in my 40’s with combination skin (fairly oily right now as it’s 100 with crazy humidity). On its own this isn’t my favorite. I don’t have any trouble working with it, I just get oily. I mixed in a little bit of the original double wear and it works much better for me. I like the two mixed. I’m not sure at this point if I’ll re-purchase it, but I will definitely use it up.
I have now tried Double Wear Sheer long wear and love it. It seems to be very light, but it has really nice coverage. I like the light SPF also! I have always used Oil of Olay on my face so putting this on over the Oil of Olay fragrance free moisturizer is great.

The original double wear is my holy grail foundation and I have tried many!!! I wear 2w1 Dawn as well as you and it covers my redness like magic. I ordered this one from ulta and is coming Thursday. Let’s see if I like it.

Extremely helpful video Steph! I’ll be 46 in October and I’ve wanted to LOVE Estée Lauder but it’s just not for me with my dry, textured skin. Another one was Charlotte Tilbury’s flawless filter foundation. How you showed the wear - sat on top of your skin, in pores - that is exactly what happened to me with CT! ☹️ My number one go-to that never disappoints is Clinique’s even better glow light reflecting makeup with SPF 15 and Catrice True Skin!!
I want to know why they keep changing their lineup, too! Double Wear was always my go to for special events and dance recitals, but Double Wear Light was my HG. I’ve ordered this and I’m hoping it works. I like lighter foundations and medium is the highest coverage I gravitate toward in the day to day. We shall see…

The EL sales rep told me it was exactly the same as the original only more shear well its obviously not. Think I'll keep using the original and try mixing it up with a drop of the repair night serum. Really thorough review!!! Very appreciated Stephanie! I still wish Estée Lauder would go back to the original Double Wear Light... that one was amazing!!! Edit: I tried this. I have normal skin, not dry especially since it’s summer (I skin never gets oily & I like lighter coverage). I am 40 now & I usually do not have issues with foundations emphasizing my pores (only happened once before with one of the Ordinary foundations). Well my pores looked awful with this foundation, it seemed to wear off very quickly for no reason within a few hours & it did not even look good when I first applied... & I tried multiple ways to apply. It’s amazing how foundations can work great for one person & badly for others. So much comes down to our skin, our wants/needs & our body chemistry!! Definitely not one for me!!!

I haven’t had a lot of luck with the double wear line. I loved this video - reminded me of the old times and the foundation road trips (is that what they were called?) you did a while back! Edit: road tests - I don’t know what I was thinking!
Haha! Yes - Road Tests! I enjoyed doing those and was sad when they got less traction over time. I'm guessing because I wasn't one of the first people to get my review up. I like through vs less helpful first impressions though! The foundation roundups seem to be helpful as well though! I may do one foundation reviews for more anticipated foundations maybe? thank you!
This has become my go to during the day...I am much older than you, and it does not sink into wrinkles or pores nor eccentuates my texture.. I do use Laura Mercier Pore Blurring primer first, which I think keeps the oiliness at bay...but, I do like the dewy glow I get later in the day.

I believe I have a similar skin type to yours and I found this to be most helpful I was on the fence about purchasing it but I think I’m going to pass until Estee Lauder figures out what they’re going to do!!!
Definite 2 thumbs' up from me. All the various factors you listed for why a foundation/base product can perform so differently on the same face are exactly why I truly appreciate REAL reviews like this, where you have tested out the product under different conditions on many multiple days to assess how it can best be used and those who might be best suited for it, even if it doesn't perform very well for you generally. It was a sad day when people decided it was actually worth watching a YTer open a product on camera, read the pkg or Sephora website marketing materials, and then slap the product on their face while chitchatting about whatever entered their minds. I find wear tests to be pretty useless too, considering I watch most videos on my phone, lol. (Nobody has to show me their "white polka dot nose pores," because as soon as I hear that, I know I'm not buying it!!)
I'm definitely not the FIRST to get my foundation reviews up, because I've always been like you - I want to know MORE. One or two days of wear just doesn't cut it for me. Thank you! :)

I am so behind the times .. I love the dw nude water fresh foundation. I have a full bottle unopened and one I am using right now ..I had no idea they discontinued it .. sad cause it is an amazing foundation !! As you can tell it will probably last me another year … but Estée Lauder bring back the water fresh foundation please
Thanks for a thorough review. Normally, I love the same foundations that you do. For example, the original DW Light and Dior Backstage Face & Body have been holy grails. But, I love this new DW Sheer. My skin is drier and older, but it looks great and with some CT setting spray, it lasts a good 8 to 10 hours on me. Also, with setting spray, it does not come off on my mask.

I hear you! I hate when companies add Chemical Sunscreens to foundations. It breaks me out every single time. I have a couple of foundations I love, but cannot wear them because of the chemical sunscreen. Thanks for the review.
This shoul have looked so nice on you, and I thought mostly it did. But if you are getting a little dehydrated at end of day , eren you check in, or you are losing weight, or recently lost weight, it will show in the face first. Also, that shine is a sunscreen shine, though I understand that many ppl also have oil as day goes on, I've seen lots of ppl get that shine as soon as foundation is applied. I kind of like it myself -- honestly it is so mild compared to the FUTURIST shine!! I'M almost unable to wear Futurist, caise of that brilliant shine!. Lately I've been using it as a liquid highlighter-- it's that bright but also since it is skin colored, it's ok for someone my age, compared to the bright white highlighter that many wear. You are 100% correct about prepping too. If I don't get a good night of sleep (which plumps my skin more than anything else) or if I don't do a certain combo of skin care which works for me, I don't even try ELDW Sheer that day, but lately I've been putting sleep as a higher priority, so that helps. I sure do wish this worked for you, and wonder if the Retin A might be stressing your skin, although in the long run it does great things.. As usual, I thought you looked pretty, when you didn't think so!!❣ I like thisFoundation a lot and wish you did. Please give it another try in cooler weather,☺
At first I didn't like the ELDW how it looked when applied with a brush on me but I saw your video of how to apply it to make it look better and more natural and it was life saver . Now I'm ready to try different foundations of this brand 🙃

I can’t wear chemical sunscreens for the same reason you have just experienced. So I go for the high end ReNutriv. The first time I tried it I was ecstatic it looked so amazing. But it’s very expensive. Belk often has 15-20% off cosmetics specials so that’s when I get it. Dawn is my shade.

Wow you just saved me $42. Thank you I think I'll stick with my no fail L'Oreal Fresh Wear. I'm 61 always wore E.L. Double Wear until Covid and realized I don't need to be so made up. Fresh Wear is now my go to even for special occasions. I wish the bottle was more travel friendly.
So, if you've got the perfect, normal skin and don't wear a mask and live in the most ideal climate (for this product) - this is a beautiful 🤞 foundation! Hum, good to know. The original double wear light was my holy grail. Looked fabulous on my combo skin. Why do they have to stuff around with a good thing. I won't be trying this at all.
Light was sticky, heavy and not that longwear on my combo/oily skin and hot n humid climate(maybe was the new, reformulated version) ...only the original DW always work
Hi there! I am trying to find a very skin-like foundation with light coverage. I typically wear Tinted sunscreen everyday, but I do get pretty shiny throughout the day so I'd like to have one with more oil control for special occasions. Every skin like foundation seems so glowy and every natural Matte Foundation looks so much like makeup. I don't love the look of makeup. I am combo/oily but do get some dry patches and dryness around eyes. Any recommendations?

My skin has changed so much since I turned 40-oily, but I also use a retinoid which gives me flakes if I don’t moisturize….off to view your skin like foundations because I’m at loss right now! I really love the foundation videos in the summer as well I think that’s why I comment so much on them cuz I sweat on my face. I always want to find a light quick application product and I loooove the OG Doublewear. I wondered if you had tried the Lancome stick foundation of Ultrawear. It is beautiful when first applied and I can get it to last about three or four hours. I’m hoping you will try it and figure out the secret to getting it to last longer. It is nice for dashing out for a little bit though if you don’t have time to do a full beat😊Thank you for being so thorough with this one saves me the time of even trying it I can tell me what you were saying it’s not for me. @@KaraLey98 i bought medium plus, im normally b30 light/medium but now i have my body darker than the face (medium in summer)...M would be my perfect match for the face but M plus gives my face just a bit of warmth, not darker or orange...hope this helps ❤ I saw all swatches in internet, all videos😉😅 and in store i could make some swatches...as you said its very forgiving

I have no desire to try this. Other TH-camrs haven't been thrilled with it either. I hope you'll review the YSL Nu Bare Skin Tint. I used it today for the first time.
Sooo many mixed reviews on this foundation but I always go by what Stephanie’s review says because I too have super oily skin! To get a sheerer look I mix the original ELDW with EL advanced night repair.
Chemical sunscreen tear my skin up. Using retin-a makes my skin more sensitive to sunscreens. I can only use mineral. Now that I use mineral only, my redness has gone away.
I so wish they would bring back the original DW light!!!! I’ve yet to find a foundation I like as well as I loved that one. Regular DW is ok, but not like the original Double Wear Light!!
Why did they have discontinue the original double wear light, they should of just expanded the shade range but not change the formula. It was the only one I absolutely loved!

It’s amazing how foundations can work great for one person & badly for others. So much comes down to our skin, our wants/needs & our body chemistry!! Definitely not one for me!!!
Yes! I used the estee lauder light for years and it was perfect. Its so annoying that they just discontinued it without warning.

I haven’t had a lot of luck with the double wear line. I loved this video - reminded me of the old times and the foundation road trips (is that what they were called?) you did a while back!

Haha! Yes - Road Tests! I enjoyed doing those and was sad when they got less traction over time. I'm guessing because I wasn't one of the first people to get my review up. I like through vs less helpful first impressions though! The foundation roundups seem to be helpful as well though! I may do one foundation reviews for more anticipated foundations maybe? thank you!
This has become my go to during the day...I am much older than you, and it does not sink into wrinkles or pores nor eccentuates my texture.. I do use Laura Mercier Pore Blurring primer first, which I think keeps the oiliness at bay...but, I do like the dewy glow I get later in the day.
Thank you so much. I think one thing we can all agree on, is that this product has very mixed reviews. I believe I have a similar skin type to yours and I found this to be most helpful I was on the fence about purchasing it but I think I’m going to pass until Estee Lauder figures out what they’re going to do!!!
Definite 2 thumbs' up from me. All the various factors you listed for why a foundation/base product can perform so differently on the same face are exactly why I truly appreciate REAL reviews like this, where you have tested out the product under different conditions on many multiple days to assess how it can best be used and those who might be best suited for it, even if it doesn't perform very well for you generally.
It was a sad day when people decided it was actually worth watching a YTer open a product on camera, read the pkg or Sephora website marketing materials, and then slap the product on their face while chitchatting about whatever entered their minds. I find wear tests to be pretty useless too, considering I watch most videos on my phone, lol. (Nobody has to show me their "white polka dot nose pores," because as soon as I hear that, I know I'm not buying it!!)
I'm definitely not the FIRST to get my foundation reviews up, because I've always been like you - I want to know MORE. One or two days of wear just doesn't cut it for me. Thank you! :)

I am so behind the times .. I love the dw nude water fresh foundation. I have a full bottle unopened and one I am using right now ..I had no idea they discontinued it .. sad cause it is an amazing foundation !! As you can tell it will probably last me another year … but Estée Lauder bring back the water fresh foundation please
Thanks for a thorough review. Normally, I love the same foundations that you do. For example, the original DW Light and Dior Backstage Face & Body have been holy grails. But, I love this new DW Sheer. My skin is drier and older, but it looks great and with some CT setting spray, it lasts a good 8 to 10 hours on me. Also, with setting spray, it does not come off on my mask.

I hear you! I hate when companies add Chemical Sunscreens to foundations. It breaks me out every single time. I have a couple of foundations I love, but cannot wear them because of the chemical sunscreen. Thanks for the review.

This shoul have looked so nice on you, and I thought mostly it did. But if you are getting a little dehydrated at end of day , eren you check in, or you are losing weight, or recently lost weight, it will show in the face first. Also, that shine is a sunscreen shine, though I understand that many ppl also have oil as day goes on, I've seen lots of ppl get that shine as soon as foundation is applied. I kind of like it myself -- honestly it is so mild compared to the FUTURIST shine!! I'M almost unable to wear Futurist, caise of that brilliant shine!. Lately I've been using it as a liquid highlighter-- it's that bright but also since it is skin colored, it's ok for someone my age, compared to the bright white highlighter that many wear. You are 100% correct about prepping too. If I don't get a good night of sleep (which plumps my skin more than anything else) or if I don't do a certain combo of skin care which works for me, I don't even try ELDW Sheer that day, but lately I've been putting sleep as a higher priority, so that helps.
I sure do wish this worked for you, and wonder if the Retin A might be stressing your skin, although in the long run it does great things.. As usual, I thought you looked pretty, when you didn't think so!!❣ I like thisFoundation a lot and wish you did. Please give it another try in cooler weather,☺
At first I didn't like the ELDW how it looked when applied with a brush on me but I saw your video of how to apply it to make it look better and more natural and it was life saver . Now I'm ready to try different foundations of this brand 🙃

I can’t wear chemical sunscreens for the same reason you have just experienced. So I go for the high end ReNutriv. The first time I tried it I was ecstatic it looked so amazing. But it’s very expensive. Belk often has 15-20% off cosmetics specials so that’s when I get it. Dawn is my shade.

Wow you just saved me $42. Thank you I think I'll stick with my no fail L'Oreal Fresh Wear. I'm 61 always wore E.L. Double Wear until Covid and realized I don't need to be so made up. Fresh Wear is now my go to even for special occasions. I wish the bottle was more travel friendly.

So, if you've got the perfect, normal skin and don't wear a mask and live in the most ideal climate (for this product) - this is a beautiful 🤞 foundation!

Light was sticky, heavy and not that longwear on my combo/oily skin and hot n humid climate(maybe was the new, reformulated version) ...only the original DW always work

Hi there! I am trying to find a very skin-like foundation with light coverage. I typically wear Tinted sunscreen everyday, but I do get pretty shiny throughout the day so I'd like to have one with more oil control for special occasions. Every skin like foundation seems so glowy and every natural Matte Foundation looks so much like makeup. I don't love the look of makeup. I am combo/oily but do get some dry patches and dryness around eyes. Any recommendations?

How will it perform if you mix it with the original Estee lauder foundation?
I tried that and it helped me a lot with the regular ELDW, bc that heavy cakey original formula didn't work for me. The combination was better. though..

Thank you for saving me from ordering and having to make a return!! I saw a rave review for this on another channel, but the reviewer was very young, definitely not in her 40’s like me. My skin has changed so much since I turned 40-oily, but I also use a retinoid which gives me flakes if I don’t moisturize….off to view your skin like foundations because I’m at loss right now! I don’t like anything I have in my drawer right now. 😬

I really love the foundation videos in the summer as well I think that’s why I comment so much on them cuz I sweat on my face. I always want to find a light quick application product and I loooove the OG Doublewear. I wondered if you had tried the Lancome stick foundation of Ultrawear. It is beautiful when first applied and I can get it to last about three or four hours. I’m hoping you will try it and figure out the secret to getting it to last longer. It is nice for dashing out for a little bit though if you don’t have time to do a full beat😊Thank you for being so thorough with this one saves me the time of even trying it I can tell me what you were saying it’s not for me. @@KaraLey98 i bought medium plus, im normally b30 light/medium but now i have my body darker than the face (medium in summer)...M would be my perfect match for the face but M plus gives my face just a bit of warmth, not darker or orange...hope this helps ❤

Sooo many mixed reviews on this foundation but I always go by what Stephanie’s review says because I too have super oily skin! To get a sheerer look I mix the original ELDW with EL advanced night repair.
I think this will go good with air puff cushion that we get with the korean cushion foundations.
Chemical sunscreen tear my skin up. Using retin-a makes my skin more sensitive to sunscreens. I can only use mineral. Now that I use mineral only, my redness has gone away.

I so wish they would bring back the original DW light!!!! I’ve yet to find a foundation I like as well as I loved that one. Regular DW is ok, but not like the original Double Wear Light!!
I'm curious, did you try your sweat and heat proof method? I'm referring to the one you showed us that starts with setting spray?
I didn't because I do my foundation tests more organically to see how they work without adding all the extra stuff :)
Would you say that this foundation is a fair replacement of DW Nude?

Why did they have discontinue the original double wear light, they should of just expanded the shade range but not change the formula. It was the only one I absolutely loved!

Based on you review, I already know this will not work for my oily sensitive skin Ugh! It's such a Shame that they cancelled double Wear light. They should have just expanded the shade range.
