Thanks for filming and uploading this! Dave will always be an excellent DJ, but this really captures him at his absolute peak IMO: vinyl era, turntablist approach - and during a fantastic period for techno, too. An irresistible reminder of what made him so special.

Nice to find this one. There are a few good recordings from this man around that time. My feeling is that he was at his top here. The techno music was superb around that time. Minimal shit not invented yet.
of course minimal techno was around. there's minimal techno from the 90s. it just sounds different from the minimal techno that made a "come back" around 2005 til 2010.

Imao sam ga sreću prvi put doživjeti na Perfectionu u zagrebačkom Bestu 4.4.2003. To nije bio DJ set, to je bila vinilna magija! Jedini koji su mu donekle prilazili blizu tehnikom su bili Charles Siegling (Technasia) i Ben Long (Space Djz). The Baron forevaaaaa
Hear ya, but I'd extend that imperial phase to maybe 1995 - 2003. He was unbeatable on vinyl, whereas nowadays he seems like a paler facsimile of his former self: the tune selection is still on point, but whether due to age, CDJs, evolution of style or whatever else, he doesn't flow quite like his peak years (although still better than 95% of DJs). I feel like the move from vinyl robbed DC of some of his technical advantage, as a lot of his two copy, turntablist tricks don't seem to work on CDJs (I've heard some recent mixes when he's tried some and the CD/file has skipped). Plus, the type of techno and Chicago house/Booty being produced during the late '90s/early '00s suited his style perfectly - and better than contemporary techno. Those who were there, know 🙃

Hey cool, dass du damals hautnah dabei warst. Ich war damals am Drum&Bass auflegen und daher auch immer mal wieder im Rohstofflager unterwegs. Legendäre Zeit. Etwas was ich vermiss sind die Ambient/Dub Floors in den Clubs. Der vom Rohstofflager bspw. wurde so oft mit geilen Dub Sets bespielt. Es hiess glaub ich Foyer oder so ähnlich
@@samuelhof2192 Ja da stimme ich dir zu. Es könnte ruhig wie früher zum Ausgleich in den Clubs eine Chill-Out/Ambient/ Dub Floor geben. Früher haben auf solchen Floors Minus 8 und Marco Repetto gespielt. Im Rohstofflager wurde im Stratos Floor auch immer Abwechslung geboten.

Außerdem: Wir befinden uns durchaus wieder an einem Zeitpunkt, wo der ganze schnelle und analoge Stuff mit stets großen Schritten zurückzukommen scheint. 😉 [Ist aber nicht mehr unbedingt mein Ding, ich habe mich mittlerweile auf etwa 128/129 bpm eingeschossen.]

I'd definitely have to disagree with that. I remember him playing in Cape Town about 9 years ago, and I was waiting for my taxi once his set (and the party) was done. He came up to me himself, and said, "Thank you so much for coming to night, your energy was fantastic". I stood there, somewhat gobsmacked, thinking, "Shouldn't it have been me going up to him to say that?" 😄 Anyway, that's my experience, and I (at least based on that) still think he's a top geeezer 🤘🏼

@@stefanradu4550 most dnb djs stay focused on their decks either whith 2,3 or 4 .check Break for example..these dudes play 30 tunes per hour..anywayz whats the hype whith crowd interaction ?don't like showmen dj's..kind of taste..
Dave is the man and dont nead to make a Show. Raver come for the music. The most Importen Thing is the music. Maybe you have to go to Real techno raves not any comercional Partys
