    Starship troopers is one of my favorite sci-fi movies. I love the way it dared to show alien life in another form other than humanoid. I also like the way it showed a natural progression of technology. Very believable. I just wish the sequels hadn't sucked so bad.

    Starship Troopers is one of the greatest movies ever, not just in sci-fi. Absolutely brilliant. So corny, good old Casper is seriously ordinary, but is just so great in this movie.
    Dina Meyer has aged wonderfully, so gorgeous, and Rico's mum, man, what an absolute stunner.
    Paul Verhoeven has directed two of the greatest movies ever. Robocop and Starship Troopers. And the original Total Recall was great too.

      @petefumberger5225 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@robertbe2520 Both are great movies, GWTW is the greatest movie of all time. But, if I am honest, I prefer to watch movies like RoboCop and Starship Troopers, or Kick-Ass, as they are nonstop entertainment for 2 hours, so visceral, while GWTW is a movie you watch when you are feeling mellow and have a few hours up your sleeve, and you sit back and watch a grand spectacle unfold before you. For a movie made in 1939, it has held up extremely, exceptionally even, well. I simply adore Scarlett O'Hara, and how Rhett the loveable scoundrel didn't win an Oscar, defies all laws of logic.

      Have you ever looked into the book it was based off. While you are correct that plently would just view it as almost a comedy scifi, it really says more than most think. Sure on a surface level it seems quite silly, but it's also quite deep. Considering when it was written and what it was really portraying.

      @@willflynn3370 I disagree. I've read the book and like both. They could've made the troopers more like the book in later films maybe because so many got chew up in their war with the bugs. I think they captured and completely unique cultural vision of the future. The book is quite sparse in that department, so they had to invent a lot. Also, so many earthbound sci-fi movies depict a very bleak and ruined planet where Starship Troopers does nothing of the sort. It looked like a world where everyone was healthy and free of economic hardship. I'm not saying that's what they intended, but it sure made that impression. They also captured a much more "law and order" society where the idea of being a good citizen is paramount. Idealistic? Perhaps. Now...about that acting and cornball script. "This is about saving the species boys and girls!"

      One thing they changed a lot was that the MI "Mobile Infantry" were more like one man armies in their suits. The reason they were called Mobile Infantry is that they had jump packs and bristled with weaponry. In the movie they were really fragile when in the book each Trooper was like Robocop with a jump pack, rocket launchers, helmets full of electronics and portable nukes. Also funny is that in the book, "Dizzy Flores" was only mentioned in passing at the beginning of the book as a casualty.
